Did this really just happen?

Did popular conservative Rep. Michele Bachmann really just hire Ed Rollins?… The same Ed Rollins who immediately attacked Sarah Palin?

Stars collide: Michele Bachmann vs. Sarah Palin

This is the same guy who picked fights with Rush Limbaugh and said he wanted to knock out Mitt Romney’s teeth.

Michele Bachmann is a classy lady and a brilliant conservative.
Michele needs to dump Rollins now.

  1. As a previously enthusiastic supporter of Congresswoman Bachmann I am wondering how it is that people who do so much good are also capable of undoing the good they have done.

I will no longer support her.

  2. Bad move, Michelle.

  3. Bachmann said this was not her game, but to attack Obama.

    Not good if true

  4. I could have voted for her if Sara didn’t get in, but now there is no chance I will vote for Bachmann if there is any other Republican to vote for.

  5. Why is Bachman paying Rollins to run a campaign for Obama ?

  6. a wolf in sheeps clothing…can not trust her again if indeed this is true

  7. Ok, honey, show us you have something BO does not: the ability to recognize a hiring mistake, and correct it.

    ___________

Yeah, you have to wonder. I read somewhere earlier that Rollins had said exactly the same thing about her that he did about Palin – before she hired him.

Truthfully though, likeable as Bachmann might be, she has NO experience other than a few months in the House. Even IWonWTF had more experience.

It might be “her turn” – but if Bachmann is who the GOP chooses to run they will lose.

  9. I used to have a positive opinion about Bachmann, but it has been fading fast and will be forever gone unless Bachmann does as Valerie suggests above.

  10. Bachman can’t be that classy to have hired Rollins.

  11. Rollins should be given his walking papers ,as Her first test, of showing Presidential Leadership.

  12. I formerly supported Bachmann stoutly. Now I recognize she is a bought off stalking horse in the pay of Romney hired to dilute Palin’s support.

She seemed a firebrand, but when the good ole boys put her in the wilderness for being too Tea Party, she decided to become a cringing toady and do their bidding.

I revile her now; she needs to GET OUT before we who defend Sarah start playing hardball too: how about that shady husband and that creepy church, just for starters. And there’s more.

You’ve wound up like Nixon, MB, with no friends on the left OR the right.

  13. A lesson people should have paid attention to in 2008, the type of company one keeps. This shows very poor judgment on Bachmann’s part.

  14. Bachmann is done, her run is over. She cannot survive this big a screwup.

  15. I really like Michelle Bachmann but this is a bridge too far. Ed Rollins is Establishment scum.
Drop the bum Congresswoman while you still have your honor.

  16. I liked Bachamnn, but even I knew how bad Ed Rollins is…. how could she possibly have made such a horrible decision?

Unless her only goal is to siphon votes, or she really is incompetent not to see blantant incompentence in others, like Rollins. Either case, I won’t be donating to her PAC any longer.

  17. Bachmann should have understood that Rollins is old school and way out there with the Rino’s. I love her but now I question her judgement…

  18. How stupid is Ed Rollins?

He’s stupid enough to attack a NON-CANDIDATE that, if she doesn’t run, is the BEST person to drive support to the ONLY WOMAN in the race.

    That’s how stupid he is.

  19. Not a good move at all.

  20. I never could figure out why she wanted to be in the race anyway. She’s running against the Governor of her own State who has written a book and Palin who campaigned for her in the midterm and has written two. It seems like her goal is to win Iowa, but even if she does, where does she go from there? The Governor of SC will almost certainly endorse Palin when she gets in and Romney will probably win in NH. Herman Cain also has very popular in the south and if she wants a 3 way split of TEA party support; I expect she’s not going to do that well against Palin and Cain, especially with the clown she’s hired. If Palin does not get in, and I think she will unless Perry does, it doesn’t make sense for her to alienate Palin supporters because we also like Cain.

  21. Meh. Every time I see Bachmann being questioned by the SRM she backpedals.

  22. Candidate Bachmann just kissed my vote buh-bye. Ed Rollins? ED ROLLINS?????? I guess she’s not as smart as I thought she was. AFAIC, her vote for Rollins just shifted my vote to Pawlenty.

‘Pubs are just completely devoid of any street smarts whatsoever. It must be in their DNA.

  23. Who did Pawlenty’s hire?

  24. Bachman sounds like someone who believes her own publicity. What is she thinking? She has virtually no experience and she comes off as being extremely naive. There is also a question of earmarks. Bachman is not straight conservative.

  25. Preceding her ’10 re-election bid, Bachmann asked Sarah to do a fundraiser with her, Sarah graciously agreed (remember the one on Hannity?), she raised a boatload of money, SarahPac also gave her the max donation allowed, and Bachmann decides not to cash the check. Bachmann had no more use for Sarah after that.

It almost looks like Michele was in it to take support from Sarah in exchange for a veep spot from someone the establishment GOP wants more…

Heh, heh. Sarah Baracuda ALWAYS gets in late and ALWAYS runs an unconventional campaign. Hang on. The cavalry, er, Mama Grizzly’s coming!

  26. Bachmann hired a guy to attack Palin, so she could keep her hands clean, but it blew up in her face. Nothing honorable about that.

  27. To Tru @ 22, Pawlenty hired Nick Ayers.

  28. Rollins is the kind of GOP beltway type that has soured me on the whole GOP.

  29. I think we have to hold our noses and go with Romney. He sucks balls but can go beyond this sh*t because if not, we lose….We don’t lose….

Among other things. Frankly, if it came down to a choice between IWonWTF and Bachmann, I would have to choose between IWonWTF and sitting out the election. At least IWonWTF will have some “experience” such as it is and we have a pretty good idea who he answers to. Bachmann really has NO place at all running for POTUS with virtually no experience under her belt.

  31. Bad judgement on her part, i really like Bachmann i hope she kicks Rollin to curb before he can do alot damage to her.

  32. shark has been jumped………

ed rollins….sheesh, if that’s the best she can do she should just save her money.

  33. Head over to Bachmann’s Facebook page and let her know how you feel about Rollins. Lots of folks are commenting that Rollins must go.

  34. I can’t imagine Rollins being employed tomorrow. He is ruining his candidates chances at a pace that should have her at “Q” point by midnight.

Unfortunately to comment on her Facebook page you have to “Like” her . . . .

  36. Look…. Bachmann is an idiot. How can you trust her judgement when the most important person she could hire… the person who would run her campaign… is an absolute jerk off who attacks the very person and her supporters she needs onside to win.

The only other explanation is the one that Sheya posted at conservatives4palin.com and that Tammy Bruce has told us for some time now is happening…

Bachmann is attacking Sarah at the behest of Romney (didn’t he just say he was going to lay low til the fall?) and the payoff is the VP spot. Now, that makes much more sense than the other that Ed is just a big mouth. I think Bachmann figures this is her ticket to the big time so she is going to go after Sarah and Mittens will act surprised and try to make it look like he has clean hands.

  37. #36 PhilipJames -

You might be right, but again – Bachmann has NO experience. I would hope the American people have learned a thing or two about putting a rank amateur within spitting distance of the White House.

  38. This looks like the old boys sending in someone to sabotage her campaign. The stupid party has lots of jerks sniping at republicans in violation of Reagans commandment “do not speak ill of another republican”.Why are they carrying water for the democrats?

  39. My guts just ain’t saying good things to me about Michelle Bachman these days.

I would that, given the job she is doing in Congress, she was content for the time being to stay there and to support Sarah – seems her personal ambitions are overloading her classiness – and sadly, I ain’t impressed with her decisions related to non-Congressional National Political stages.

She’s young, and with the work she is doing still, consistently, good work., in Congress, that is where she is needed, that is where she is thriving – she would keep all her good beneficial “public goodwill image”. She should just concentrate on developing herself, fully, there, as someone capable of carrying a heavier Mantle.

  40. Nobody has been elected to the presidency DIRECTLY from the House in well over a hundred years.

People should keep that in mind when pressing for House members to run, any House members, including Ryan or West.

  41. This could be Romney’s strategy. I don’t think it will work especially if Palin gets in. He’s all about the money and Bachmann raised 2.2 million in the first quarter. Like McCain he knows conservatives will stay home in the general unless he puts a TEA party candidate on the bottom of his ticket. Bachmann wants out of congress. Limbaugh said today that if Palin gets in she’s the one to beat. I agree and if she gets Rubio on the ticket, she takes Florida and wins.

  42. #30 Granny – Actually, unfortunately, Michelle is coming off more “beachy” and egotistical, and self-serving, than she is “naive”.

Leaves a bad taste when I see her associated with such stuff.

You know how we women can be – it always looks a lot worse on women than it does on men to be a bit classless.

Michelle’s advantage would lay in being as classy and gracious as possible.

  43. Bachman is a backstabber and fox news loves her. Palin fundraised for her 2010. That’s all we really need to know.

Better still, how ’bout she stay there and support the Constitution…being as she took an oath to do so and all.

  46. Ed Rollins is nothing more then an attack dog with no real loyalty to anyone or anything. I thought that Michele Bachmann was a real class act until she made this stupid move. It was not to long ago the Rollins was badmouthing her. Republicans just can’t get it into their heads that Obama and the Democrats are the enemy.

  47. Bachmann wears a RINO dog collar and the corrupt old boy lobby / consultant network pulls the leash. She does not have the legislative accomplishments to be seeking the Presidancy. She is only in there at the command of the men to split Sarah’s primary support. It is why Sarah has not announced yet and why Michelle hasn’t either.

  48. This media has been trying to create this story long before Ed Rollins.

Why? Because it’s there attempt to trivialize both candidates. They seriously have problems with female conservatives.

Bachmann and I go back about eight years. About three years ago, I donated to her campaign. Now, I get “urgent” emails from her on nearly a daily basis asking for more money. Really don’t know what happened to her. Like her ambition but ambition has turned to aggression.

So, it doesn’t surprise me that she hired Ed Rollins. I’d never vote for her.

    …………..

WHat kind of analysis is THAT? Romney lost to McCain who lost to Obama. There’s no mathematical equation that can make Romney > Obama.

He’s standing around in mom pants with his Powerpoint, while Palin’s in black leather, rolling down Constitution Ave on a “Hog.”
It’s SUPPOSED to be the other way around, but if Romney tries it now, his lack of familiarity with the biker scene will be painfully OBVIOUS.

The one who fights the hardest will win. Romney is too soft.

  50. Why is everybody going nuts? It’s 7 or 8 months before anybody but the wonks pay attention to primary races. Chill out and see what happens. This was a stupid move, but, she was never a serious contender anyway. We have plenty of time to find the right horse to ride in this race.

  51. …Who Picked Fights With Rush and Said He Wanted to Knock Romney’s Teeth Out

Somebody needs to remind the guy he isn’t in his 20s anymore.

  52. Rollins has always been an attack dog, a good strategist but one known for playing the game as dirty as it gets legally. Usually he isn’t the front guy on this stuff, relying on spreading rumors and other under-the-radar tricks.

But no one in politics can claim not to know this. Bachmann hired him, and she knew darned well who and what she was hiring. Maybe she didn’t expect him to step in it right away, but she knew who he is.

  53. #51… There’s a darn good reason to fire and fire quickly. The motivated conservatives are fed up with business as usual. Newt, Romney and now Bachmann have indicated they’re expecting to play the same old game. The sooner we squash these useless, pandering phonies the quicker we can get down to finding a real leader.

As for Michelle, she should save her money. She’s done. She’s ridden the Tea Party so long she obviously thinks it won’t roll with out her. Let’s leave her on this beach and move on. She and the wretched, bitter jerk she hired can keep each other company while the rest of us figure out how to save the country from Obama.

  54. For a while it looked like Michelle would emerge from her presidential campaign as a stronger, more attractive figure, but now it appears that she is going to come out of it diminished. She needs not only to rethink the Rollins hire, but the whole campaign.

  55. I can’t believe I’m the one who has to say this.

Look how easily conservatives are split. This is ridiculous. I hold Palin and Bachmann both in the highest esteem. Wait and see who Sarah Palin hires. The campaign people are operatives, one and all. They run campaigns for one side and then the other.
Sure, Bachmann will have to explain and/or correct this choice, but look how quickly you are willing to throw a Tea Party patriot under the bus.
All you brilliant thinkers who suddenly have it all figured out. That’s just ridiculous.
Bachmann has shown time and again where her sympathies lie, but that’s meaningless to you once she makes a mistake (which probably was a mistake made by one of her underling advisers). Geez.

Granny, that ‘s really brilliant. If you get stuck with the wrong candidate in the primary, then by all means sit out the election. What’s the worst that could happen? Oh yeah, Obama got elected that way. It’s conservatives like you that we don’t need. You’ll throw the whole party, the whole movement, and the whole nation under the bus because you didn’t get the candidate you wanted in the primary? You’d seriously sit out and contribute to Obama getting re-elected because he ha more “experience”? You mean experience destroying America, right? Is that the experience you’d prefer over Bachmann? Really?

Bachmann is one of our own and she has done enough (at least as much as any of you) to deserve a minute to explain or correct a bad decision. She’s no sell out. Anybody who thinks that is a political simpleton.

If you disagree, it’s not your fault because you are after all a simpleton.

  56. Big mistake on Bachmann’s part cause Rollins is a sleeze…

The GOP will have to have a candidate that can bring in the independents ( Reagan Democrats now Obama Democrats ) This means a candidate with a clear plan & effective means to communicate that plan and not so much baggage you have to hold your nose in the booth to vote.

  57. Are you saying you’d have to hold your nose to vote for Bachmann?
The only representative in the house who has been crying out to repeal Obamacare from day one?
The one started the Tea Party caucus?
The one who voted against raising the debt ceiling when all the RINOs voted for it?

News flash: Bachmann is more conservative than Reagan.
Don’t forget Reagan was a Democrat for most of his life.

  58. I suspect Michelle was told to hire Rollins – by Romney or the GOP establishment. She had no choice in the hiring and has no say in his firing either. They hope she can be a stalking horse candidate for Romney taking away votes from Sarah Palin in places like Iowa.

Sadly, if the GOP establishment really thought attacking Sarah Palin would make social conservatives then turn around and vote for Michelle Bachman instead, it proves how stupid they truly are and it really is time for a change.

  59. Tango, why would Bachmann have no say in the hiring or firing of Rollins?

Gary, you’re right and Granny’s wrong but the name-calling wasn’t necessary.

  60. OK Auntie. Sorry about that. I wasn’t calling Granny a simpleton. When I break paragraphs, I’m moving on. That was a general admonishment not to be an idiot and throw Bachmann overboard after all her hard work.

  61. This reflects quite badly on Bachmann. I watch not merely what people say, but what they do. I’m not a “three strikes and you’re out” sort of person – I’m a “one strike” and you’ve lost my trust, period. I must have hung up on at least 25 robocalls from Bachmann over the last few days – she’s pushing too hard, and she’s already lost me.

  62. I still trust Michelle Bachman. I’ll wait until she actually declares her run and starts campaigning before I pass any judgement. Calm down people.

  63. Agreed Zelda
    Sheila #62
I have to wonder how much you’ve done to promote the Conservative movement that you can discard everything Bachmann has done in recent years when you hear a little piece of news like this.
Just so we have it straight, no matter how perfect a Conservative has been all their life, once you hear something you don’t like, they’re out. One strike.
Newsflash: You’re not going to have anybody to vote for then. Tell you what, you name a conservative, and I’ll name a mis-step they’ve made with regard to the Conservative movement.
    Go ahead, name one.

  64. Gary, I’m not a “conservative” (i.e. a right-liberal). I am an ethno-nationalist (i.e. a proud right-wing extremist). There is no one I am currently willing to vote for (okay, strike that – I did just vote in a run-off for a position on my city council, where one candidate specified he would implement e-verify and the other blasted it as anti-business – but that’s because I’m a racist).

  65. All right then Sheila.
For starters, that’s just word play. Labeling yourself as an extremist is almost a paradoxical statement. If you’re aware the position is extreme by your own determination, then that means it is skewed from what you consider centered. Therefore, you admit to having skewed views.
Conservatives on the other hand view right-leaning thought as the traditional center, hence the name Conservative (conserving what were once considered middle of the road values but that have now been skewed right in appearance only by those whose thinking is so far left).

    But more importantly, consider this:
You are the most extreme right wing person in America and nobody lives up to your expectations for president.
So when it comes time to vote, you sit it out, refusing to give your valuable vote to any conservative who doesn’t perfectly mirror your views.
Result: you put Obama one vote closer to getting the electoral points in your state.
So in order for you to sit around feeling good about yourself that at least in your own mind you can rest assured that you are the most principled right winger out there, you allow the most extreme left winger out there to keep his hands on our great nation’s future for four more years.
I suggest you rethink your philosophy.
If you are against what Obama is doing to this country, I suggest that you cast your vote for whichever person wins the (R) nomination.
Yes, there will be plenty of room to criticize that person, but would you rather be going 20 mph toward the cliff or continue going 90? I’d rather have more time to stop the car.
