FORMER SPEAKER PELOSI Calls For Weiner Ethics Investigation

Ma Pelosi is not pleased.
Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the least popular leader in Congress, called today for an investigation of Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) after he admitted to lying about the lewd photos he sent to young women on the internet.
The Politico reported:
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Rep. Steve Israel, the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, are calling for an investigation into Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) over the series of sexually explicit conservations and lewd photos he exchanged with a half-dozen women during the last several years.
“I am deeply disappointed and saddened about this situation; for Anthony’s wife, Huma, his family, his staff and his constituents,” Pelosi said in a statement released on Monday night.
“I am calling for an Ethics Committee investigation to determine whether any official resources were used or any other violation of House rules occurred.”
Israel added: “Congressman Anthony Weiner engaged in a deep personal failure and inappropriate behavior that embarrassed himself, his family, and the House. Ultimately, Anthony and his constituents will make a judgment about his future .
“To remove all remaining doubt about this situation, I agree with Leader Pelosi’s request that the House Ethics Committee use its authority to begin an investigation.”

If we’re dumb enough to let them go this route, it means 89 days of “I can’t comment on an ongoing investigation.” followed by a party-line “Broke no House rule.”
The only House ethics rule he violated is the boilerplate one about bringing disrepute on Congress. Keep in mind these are rules about not accepting bribes, extorting money, hiring relatives… things like that. Rape isn’t a violation of the House ethics rules — though casting a vote after being convicted of rape, but before being reelected, is an ethical violation.
Making the question whether he violated one of the House ethics rules would be an extraordinary victory for Congressman Weiner.

Ethics investigation… how’s about nailing him for faking a crime? He knew he had tweeted this, then claimed he had been hacked (hacking is a crime)… Faking a crime is a crime in my book.

The reason San Fran Nancy wants this to go to the “House Ethics Committee” is that Weiner will die of old age before they can reach a decission. You don’t have to look any farther then Charlie Rangel or Maxine Waters. Now if he was a Republican, the death penalty would be on the table this afternoon.
