This loon is freaking crazy. Notice too that he delivered this speech at radical Father Pfleger’s wacky church.
NBC Chicago, via News Alert:

The pervasion of illegal guns in America’s black and Latino communities is a result of “government-sponsored racism,” akin to “slavery, segregation, black codes [and] Jim Crow,” Rahm Emanuel’s new police chief, Garry McCarthy, told parishioners at St. Sabina’s Church earlier this month.

“This is sensitive. You know, because everybody’s afraid of race. Have you noticed that? Everybody’s afraid of race. I’m not afraid of race,” said McCarthy, who told of growing up in the Bronx with guns, gangs and drugs plentiful.

“Let’s see if we can make a connection here. Slavery. Segregation. Black codes. Jim Crow. What, what did they all have in common? Anybody getting scared? Government sponsored racism.”

“Now I want you to connect one more dot on that chain of the African American history in this country, and tell me if I’m crazy: Federal gun laws that facilitate the flow of illegal firearms, into our urban centers across this country, that are killing our black and brown children,” he said.

McCarthy blasted the NRA, telling parishioners that their communities have paid the price while the gun manufacturers are getting “rich and living in gated communities.”

And he told an anecdote of just one night with the New York Police Department. After returning home from investigating a pair of shootings, he said he flipped on the television to relax, only to find “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” being broadcast.

“She was caribou hunting, and talking about the right to bear arms,” he said. “Why wasn’t she at the crime scene with me?”

“[McCarthy] got it right on parts and got it wrong on others,” said Shawn Gowder, the Vice President of the Chicago Firearms Safety Association and the Sergeant of Arms for the African American Police League.

Gowder said McCarthy was right in remarking that government-sponsored racism began with slavery and Jim Crow, but said it was wrong to make the association with that and the availability of guns.

  1. “Institutional racism”? Sounds like he’s blaming Chicago’s mayor and its new police chief. Nobody else has jurisdictional authority to be the institution in Chicago.

    Resign.

  2. Chicago, you deserve this. Enjoy.

  3. The irony here is that Chicago has some of the strictest anti-gun laws in the US. Yet…

    Of course it’s not working.

  4. McCarthy simply does not make sense. He’s combining apples and oranges.

  5. That’s funny. They blame Sarah Palin who has nothing to do with anything
And I blame Barack Obama who has everything to do with everything.

  6. Yeah it must be Palin who set up all these Progressive controlled Gaza Strips all over America. Filthy rich elite, (see any demoncrat pols and the people who fund them) only people able to earn a living are the paid muni workers, no commerce and there is always someone “outside” to blame.

  7. Gun Control’s roots and intents are racism! The advocates are racist. Don’t believe me, take a look at these reports:

Clayton Cramer’s Racist Roots of Gun Control

    http://www.firearmsandliberty.com/cramer.racism.html

GeorgiaCarry’s research into the origins of Gun Control in Georgia which liberal historians have agreed is accurate. Democrats were behind each of these laws.

    http://www.georgiacarry.org/cms/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/racist-roots-of-ga-gun-laws.pdf

The title Disarm the Negroes was the title of editorial written by the editor of the predecessor of the Atlanta Journal and Constitution. One of the many quotes “A good negro is contaminated by the possession of a weapon in a time like this; a bad negro is made very much worse the moment he places a pistol in his pocket.” Sounds much like what Rham is saying today but with code words.

GeorgiaCarry also researched crime rates and compared them before and after a gun control law was enacted for over 10 instances. Each time crime goes up when guns are banned and down when guns are allowed. Here is the link:

    http://www.georgiacarry.com/research/GCO_-_Guns_Good_Bans_Bad.pdf

Chicago’s gun ban enactment is shown on page 15 …. crime rates quadrupled in 3 years after the ban.

  8. “Institutional racism”? Police Chief McCarthy seems to forget who has been in charge in the City of Chicago for over 100 years. What a loon!

  9. I had to look up “pervasion” because I had never heard it used before, and now I know why.

  10. Andreas is right. More guns less crime.

    Look it up.

    Powder is dry

  11. This shows Mayor Imanuels seriousness in stopping crime in Chicago. A brand new police chief who goes into churches to stoke racism hatred of conservative.

This has got to be Jeremiah Wrights brother from a different mother.

  12. Political pandering at its finest (worst).

  13. Typical Liberal equating completely unrelated subjects/events to come to an illogical moral conclusion. The Federal Government had a program to turn a blind eye to guns flowing across the border to Mexico and that is supposed to be OK with the most Liberal Administration in our history. Denying that policy contributed to violence in Mexico and more importantly in the border areas in the US. Yet in one of the many cities in America where ownership of a LEGAL firearm is strictly regulated they can’t figure out that the lack of guns in good people hands encourages bad guys to use theirs.

  14. Congratulations Sarah!!!!!!!!!! You were elected to run the city of Chicago?! Why didn’t you tell us? Wow, you are the greatest living human being to be able to do such great things! Back when you were on the streets of Chicago, organizing and making things better you got us free stuff and made us so happy and ….and…. and….

What the hell is in the water up there?

  15. “Let’s see if we can make a connection here. Slavery. Segregation. Black codes. Jim Crow. What, what did they all have in common? Anybody getting scared? Government sponsored racism.”

Again, what do they have in common- DEMOCRATS!

  16. When he talks about Government sponsored Racism is he referring to the Obama Administration?
I’d like to know how many of his audience have family members involved with Gun, Drugs, and Violence? Of this number how many actually condemned their family members or simply made excuses for them? I ask this because it’s easier to blame than accept responsibility.

  17. More directly, why does this church not lose its tax-exempt status?

  18. “Now I want you to connect one more dot on that chain of the African American history in this country, and tell me if I’m crazy: Federal gun laws that facilitate the flow of illegal firearms, into our urban centers across this country, that are killing our black and brown children,”

You want my help, Supe? OK: yeah, you actually are coming off a little bit crazy here. I realize you were at St. Sabina’s and there are certain expectations, and if you’re not going to do elaborate funny voices and spastic screaming then you’ve got to come up with some racist conspiracy theories or you’re not getting invited back, but a little dignity never hurt anybody.

McCarthy could make a big start toward making amends by meeting with Shawn Gowder and LISTENING to what the man has to say. He’s an impressive person who understand’s Chicago’s neighborhoods but never seems to feel the need to pander.

  19. “tell me if I’m crazy”
    OK, you’re crazy.
“Why wasn’t she at the crime scene with me?”
Because of your prior statement… You’re crazy.
    (this is too easy)

  20. First of all, the guy is totally correct when he says no one wants to hear what he has to say. The reason, however, is not because he has so bravely exposed institutional racism in America, but because he has the intellect of a snail and the speaking skills of Charlie the Tuna.

How is it that all of the (many) guns in the hands of suburban white America are not somehow correlated with massive numbers of shell casings in the streets of suburbia along with senseless gun crimes and massive numbers of dead white kids in the streets?

I submit that the problems they are having in Chicago are attributable to the Democratic Party’s policies over the decades that have perpetuated the cycle of ignorance and poverty in the lower class communities. Those people who are killing one another faster than McDonalds is making Happy Meals, have been left to rot in the ghettos as the failed subjects of the socialist’s deplorable experiment. When you isolate people from the negative consequences of their own behavior, (by giving them free money for behaving poorly) they fail to develop the traits that one can abundantly see in successful sectors of our society.

How is it possible that the Asian kids have somehow managed to obtain the highest SAT scores, despite the fact that they are yellow skinned, if racism has been institutionalized in America?
