Governor Rick Perry told reporters today that he is considering a White House run.
The Statesman reported:
Gov. Rick Perry today gave his strongest indication yet that he may run for president.
“I’m going to think about it” after the legislative session ends Monday, Perry said. He added, “But I think about a lot of things.”
For years, Perry has said that he would not run for president and that he had no interest in the job. He has often said that he has said no to the presidential question in as many ways as he could.
But he and his advisers have inched closer to saying he may run all week, following the announcement that Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels would not enter the GOP field. A couple of days ago, he told Greta Van Susteren on Fox News that a run was tempting.
For the record, Texas has added 732,000 jobs in the last decade. No other state has created over 100,000 jobs.

A true conservative like Rick Perry would run circles around that socialist Obama. We are not going to hold our noses again and vote for another lib-rino like McCain or Romney!
noislamocommie commented:
He is a supporter of the DREAM ACT has led his state into becoming a satellite of Mexico. It’s easy to run a successful economy when you find ways out of passing real immigration enforcement bills and can access non-stop cheap labor. Texas did not get ONE enforcement bill on illegal immigration bill yet. We got stuck with two RINOS Dewhurst and Speaker Strauss all set up to punt and fumble on enforcement.
If you do not want the USA to transform into a communist country via gazillions of illegal aliens then stop supporting the stealth amnesty comprehensive candidates that appear to be pushed by the BUSH-ROVE-NWO open borders crowd.
flyoverland commented:
There is still that vaccine business that left a bad taste in my mouth.
Chisum commented:
According to this article Perry is not a supporter of the DREAM Act.

retire05 commented:
noislamcommie, you have lobbed that DREAM act accusation before. So again, I ask you to prove that claim. Last time you ran from my request for proof that Perry supports the DREAM Act, a federal bill.
A satellite of Mexico? How so, when we are really the only ones defending our borders with Mexico? Oh, and perhaps you forgot that Perry refused to meet with the Border State/Mexican governors when Calderon slammed Arizona so badly and refused to meet in Tucson.
No, Texas did not get ONE enforcement bill. Gee, I guess you want us to have to go to court like Arizona who DID get an enforcement bill. How you must love spending our money. So, tell me, just what enforcement bill did you want? Perry supported the “sanctuary city” bill, but Democrats in Austin killed it.
Perry is pushed by the Bush-Rove-NWO bunch? Guess that is why Bush/Rove supported Kay Bailey Hutchison in the governor’s race.
I am sick of your false claims. Either back them up or stop making them.
Militant Conservative commented:
Perry supported the Dream Act in his first term. He has since changed his tune due to the damage he has seen. He’s enough of a conservative for me. There are no perfect candidates.
In no specific order the conservative candidates are Palin, Cain, Paul (although crazy), and Perry if he gets in. Romney is a rino establishment candidate.
powder is dry
Ben commented:
Who cares about jobs? Perry made a mistake once related to a vaccine. We should give up on America and just let the socialists have it rather than elect someone who might have made a mistake or two. (end sarcasm)
Perry should run. He’s a strong leader on economic and liberty issues. He would easily beat Obama.
Spider commented:
Chisum, thanks for the link. I like what I’m reading about Perry so far.
I’m a jobs, jobs, jobs guy, so his record of creating jobs in Texas bodes well for me.
The idea that Palin would support him is a big plus.
Sally commented:
Absolutely, #3-
He is the one who pushed for mandatory Gardasil vaccinations of all teen/pre-teen girls.
Never forget this about him.
Judicial Watch filed for the adverse events records on this; it is horrifying. You can read more on the JW web site as well as on the sites of any “wellness” focused medical site, like http://www.mercola.com or http://www.russellblaylock.com or many others.
retire05 commented:
Sally, if you are a one issue voter (Gardasil) you are going to be sorely disappoint in ALL of the candidate. And if you can name another governor who has not made a few mistakes, please name them. Even the beloved Christie has made mistakes, like appointing a Shi’ria supporting judge to the bench.
But how many states have created job in the last 10 years? Only 19 of them. And how many have balanced budgets, have had the Obama administration try to usurpt their 10th Amendment rights like they have against Texas, lowered taxes for home owners, created legislation that will require women to have a sonigram before an abortion, voted in photo ID for voting and basically done as well as Texas?
Stuart commented:
The main objective of the 2012 election should be to get rid of Comrade Zero.
To that end I would even support Romney (belch) if that were the only choice.
Perry seems to me to be a strong contender, perhaps-potentially- the strongest.
I like Palin, but I think she might be too easily ground into powder by our dishonest MSM.
That’s my opinion at this point in time. I could be convinced otherwise by events; but isn’t that what campaigns are all about?
huckleberryfriend commented:
The Texans I have heard from all say they won’t vote for him. We need more information.

If she hasn’t been ground into powder by now, she won’t be.
Spider commented:
Perry’s profile is being raised right as Sarah embarks on her ‘listening tour’. So I think it is coordinated.
They will not run for the nomination against each other.
Hopefully we will have more clarity soon.
retire05 commented:
huckleberryfriend, the Texans you have “heard” from? Were they all from Austin? Gee, the Texans I talk to every day of my life (since I live in Texas) are chomping at the bit for Perry to run. They all support him.
But hey, I guess someone living in another state is more informed that I am (snark).
Chisum commented:
Spider,
You’re welcome. I’ve always liked Perry. He can beat BO.
Ron commented:
I think Gov. Perry would be major improvment over the current crop of potential candidates that we have now, with the exception of one or two. However; The just like Bush meme will surely come in …1..2..3.. if he chooses to run. The MSM will do nothing by try to besmirch and belittle all of the accomplishments that Governor Perry and my fine state has achieved with Republican majorities in all branches of our states’ government. I feel that if he does run and gets the nomination, that he will have to do a lot to prove that he’s not just a political populist, but that he’s a bonefied born again conservative. Governor Perry; If you do choose to run you’ll have the support of a lot of good people. Remember: All of us that would support you will be watching you and we’ll hold your feet to the fire. God Bless.

How in the world can Rick Perry be a real conservative?
This comment at Hot Air the other day was a real eye-opener for me:
“Perry took heat during this year’s Republican primary for backing in-state tuition for illegal immigrants, saying in a debate that the students are on a path to citizenship.”
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/special/immigration/6982707.html
Oh and…
-Chairman of Texans for Gore in 1988
-Backed Dukakis over Bush in 1988
-Backed Mondale over Reagan in 1984
-Backed Carter over Reagan in 1980
I have a hard time trusting a Republican who came over from the Democratic Party after the Reagan Administration. Could be W 2.0 (not a good thing imho)

retire05, they are mostly rural people who are very conservative. The Gardasil vaccine program, illegal immigration, and Trans Texas Corridor are the main things they brought up.
I’m looking for info and open to being persuaded.
czekmark commented:
Thankfully some real conservative candidates (Cain, Pawlenty, Palin, etc.) are starting to emerge. The only problem will be that the conservative vote will be sufficiently divided to let a Guiliana or Romney to win the nomination.
