Maulvi Asmatullah and his party members offered prayers for Osama Bin Laden in parliament yesterday.

They prayed for his salvation.
The Daily India reported:

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) members have offered fateha for the salvation of the soul of Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden in Pakistan’s National Assembly (NA), without the permission of Acting Speaker Faisal Karim Kundi.

The Saudi-born terrorist, who had evaded capture for a decade, was killed in a top secret operation involving a small team of US Special Forces in Abbottabad, located 50 kilometres northeast of Islamabad and 150 kilometres east of Peshawar.

On a point of order, JUI-F lawmaker Maulvi Asmatullah raised his hands for dua, and was followed by two other members of the party, including the younger brother of JUI-F chief Maulana Fazalur Rehman.

Although the Acting Speaker repeatedly asked them not to do so, Maulvi Asmatullah went ahead while ignoring him, the Daily Times reports.

Before offering fateha, a JUI-F MNA said that as the US had admitted that bin Laden’s burial in the sea was carried out in accordance with the Islamic rituals, so it had become necessary to offer fateha.

  11. One more sign that real threat to American interests comes from Pakistan, not Afghanistan. With the death of bin Laden (in Pakistan) the United States has a historic opportunity to rethink its approach to a $120 billion a year war that is adding significantly to the national debt without adding to our national security. It is time to bring America’s engagement in Afghanistan back into balance with its interests there…and it can be done for far less than $120 billion a year.

More and more conservatives see the struggling economy and excessive borrowing for decade-long wars as the greatest threat to America’s national security. Ann Coulter, for one, recognizes that this war is “bleeding us dry” with no strategic benefit.
