And, you wonder why Barack Obama is the worst jobs president since the Great Depression?

He doesn’t even know where the jobs were lost.

Clue to Obama: It’s not the public sector employees who are suffering.

Jim Geraghty at The Campaign Spot reported:

CBS’s Mark Knoller, covering a town hall on the economy with the president this morning, reports: “President Obama blames high unemployment rate on ‘huge layoffs of government workers’ at federal, state and local levels.”

This is completely wrong. Extremely and mind-bogglingly wrong. Epically wrong… We are about 8 million away from the most recent peak in private-sector employment…. As you can see, in terms of total number of Americans employed in government, there has been no real discernible recession. In fact, the number has increased slightly.

It would probably help if the community organizer knew a little something about the current crisis.

  2. Obama is a worthless, disgusting failure and should himself be unemployed as soon as possible.

  3. everyone willing to belong to a union and vote Democrat can be assured of a government job or subsistence welfare in the obama economy. this policy is doing very well in other countries around the globe, why not here? now go back to your bread and circuses.

  4. There are few valid inferences from what Zero says to what he knows. He lies so readily that there is hardly any reason to pay attention to his assertions. He comes from a world where factoid invention is rampant and rewarded. Concern with truth is for lesser folk.

This important fact, for him and his sheeple is that public sector growth is part of the master plan for destruction of the old order. No idea weighing against that growth is permitted.

  5. Everytime he opens his moo slum mouth sh*t just pours out

  6. “It would probably help if the community organizer knew a little something about the current crisis.”

    Again, the “ignorance” defense.

Obama knows about the crisis. He and his communist cohorts engineered the crisis. Each and every job lost in the private sector is something that he and they MEANT TO HAPPEN.

Why, Jim? As Rush said at the beginning of his program today….why can’t conservatives wrap their minds around this?

Obama and Co. are doing this all on purpose. They are NOT incompetent, they are NOT ignorant, and they are NOT unintelligent. Looking at this from a Soviet-style Communist perspective — from the perspectives of Cloward, Piven, Alinsky, Gramsci, and Marx — Obama is doing a masterful job, and a fully competent job, and a unbelievably well-done job.

If he was operating out of ignorance, wouldn’t there be some sucessful results, at least 50% of the time?

If I’m shooting at the range and hit the exact wrong target each and every single time, you gonna say that I’m blindfolded? The targets Obama is hitting, he WANTS TO BE HITTING.

It’s hard to imagine, I know. That we elected a president who wishes to destroy our nation. No, it’s never happened, until now.

  7. How many hundreds of thousands of jobs did we shed under bush? How many under obama? Thats why bush left office with an approval rating in the teens and obamas at 60. Figures

  8. Encountering the “ignorance” defense, at this late stage, given what we know about Obama and Co., it’s utterly exasperating. Leaves me shaking my head.

  9. Skippy is finding out affirmative action policies fail every time thus he is doomed to fail.

Your a failure and a black failure at that.

You had it all and failed due to your own policies.

    Choke on it.

    Powder is dry

  10. Up is down and down is up.
I pray we can overcome this economic crisis…

  11. Billy, did you even GLANCE at the chart?

Obama has Bush beat in the “jobs lost” department by ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE.

  12. http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.t14.htm

Table A-14. Unemployed persons by industry and class of worker, not seasonally adjusted

According to the data in that table the unemployment rate for government workers is 3.5% which they say is the same as the mining and oil sector

A bit different from others in the pack

Health and Education is the next lowest a 5.0

  13. #60 Billy Seeshell

Obama is at 60 ONLY because they so distorted the sample that it is ludicrous. I don’t think I have ever seen a public opinion poll with such a low instance of Republicans, a number of Democrats larger than even the very large numbers that voted IWonWTF into office and a category entirely separate from “Independent” – “unknown”. They couldn’t have been more blatant if they tried.

  14. PIMF – #12 should be addressed to #6 Billy, not #60!

  15. http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.t17.htm

Table B-1. Employees on nonfarm payrolls by industry sector and selected industry detail

If you look at that table which breaks groups down even more you will see that over all the weak growth we are seeing is despite government not because of it.

    Me either.

BO can take his teleprompter and fake intelligence and ram it.

  17. This is simple. Obama is lying, he is lying on purpose. The Media is aiding and abetting, and it’s called “messaging’. Stupid people believe Con-men.

  18. No, you’ve got it wrong. He’s not PLAYING dumb. He’s mentally unbalanced. Judgment impaired.

  19. First of all, every person at Obamarxist’s sideshow yesterday were either government employees or campaign donors. If he really wants to try a “Gutsy Call”, hold a townhall meeting that is open to anyone, now that would be “Gutsy”.
Looking at the above chart anybody can easily see that some catastrophic event took place in Jan. 2007, hmmm, what could that be, I know, Pelosi & Reid took control of Congress and drove the economy off a cliff. They spent $trillions expanding the government in size and power, strangling the private sector.

  20. I totally agree with your sentiment, but that chart is laughably distorted. Compare the scale for the primary Y-axis versus the scale for the secondary Y-axis: 106-118 million, versus 20-23 million. Let us not fall into the “lies, damn lies, and statistics” trap. We don’t need it in order to argue our case.

  21. #5 Taqiyyotomist:

I’ve been wondering if I would ever hear another person speak the truth you just did. Yes, yes, flippin yes, he knows ALL about the current…c’mon, folks…crisEs.

The freely-elected person occupying my house at 1600 PA Ave does not like my country, and has promised to fundamentally transform it. This person is very successful, and evidence suggests he will continue to be.

I have read some cloward-piven, marx, lenin, alinsky, nietzsche, cone (black liberation theology) dreams of my father, and the audacity of hope. Besides Christ, nothing has better prepared me to understand democrat motive. I recommend reading these, preparing for the person in my house to be reelected, and to behave similar to how Militant Conservative signs off.

  23. He’s a moron token…what do you expect?

  24. Jim,

    Your graphs are great.

Chip, if you have a better way to get the two types of information on the graph than to use different primary and secondary y-axes, please feel free. It’s a legitimate way to compare the numbers over time where, as mentioned by Taqiyyotomist at #11, the job losses for private industry are orders of magnitude greater than for the government.

  25. It’ll be news when the subprime blowhard states a fact accurately.

The Section VIII parasites, along with the parasites in the public unions and academia, don’t care whether he’s accurate or not, they just want their Obama Money.

  26. Obama makes annother ‘gutsy call’

  27. I’ll say he’s a moron token @truthteller #23.
No insider needed to know that.

  28. Valerie,

No, it’s not. To be frank: that chart represents shoddy data analysis. The baselines are different. The scales are different. It is charted to inflate the scale of government jobs as compared to private-sector jobs. The biggest problem is the scale. As-charted, it implies that the rise in public-sector jobs is commensurate with the fall of private-sector jobs, when in fact both the gross number and the rate of change is an order of magnitude greater for private-sector jobs.

We rightfully call out the AP when they statistically skew their polls through their ideological sampling methodologies. But we can’t then turn around and use the same sort of faulty methodology in our own data analysis in defending our arguments.

Look: there are plenty of data to support our premises. We don’t need to manufacture this sort of deceptive, apples-to-oranges data analysis. Public-sector jobs are an utter and complete drain on the economy, because they are funded through taxes, and produce absolutely nothing that contributes to the GDP. Then, factor in that total compensation for public-sector jobs is roughly twice that of private-sector jobs. So, compare that: figure out how many private-sector jobs are required to make up for the taxes/loss of production for each public-sector job, and then compare the number of jobs gained/lost in those relative terms.

  29. Forgot to add:

as mentioned by Taqiyyotomist at #11, the job losses for private industry are orders of magnitude greater than for the government.

That’s entirely the point. If such a chart is going to imply that the gains/losses are correlated (bearing in mind that correlation does not prove causation) then one assumes the burden of proving that a gain of 2MM private-sector jobs (ignoring the census spike) has a causative impact on a loss of 7MM private-sector jobs.

(Such a proof is confounded by the data observed from 2003 – 2008, during which both public-sector and private-sector jobs grew simultaneously.)
