The far left strikes again—-
A far left protester disrupted and assaulted Newt Gingrich Tuesday at his book signing in Minnesota.
The activist threw glitter at Newt and his wife Calista at the pro-familiy event. This was just the left’s latest attack on a prominent conservative. They think it’s cute but it is clearly an assault.

There is enough to gag seeing Newt at anything to do with “Family Values.” Having someone however cross the line into any type of getting physical, well as physical as an homage to Studio 54 could be, isn’t right.

I agree with you on the rest, too. It’s one thing to profess certain values, then slip up, then repent and try to do better. Most of us do that sooner or later. But most of us don’t subsequently go around posing as moral leaders.

However after the attempted murder of Gabby Gifford, I am surprised that this man was allowed that close to Newt with his suitcase sized purse. Watching him slowly pull a large item from his purse I was again surprised that no one attempted to stop him.
It was so fortunate that all he did was throw glitter, the opportunity was there for it to be much worse.

It doesn’t matter if Sasja, Jharp or anyone else think that it wasn’t assault. What matters is what the law says. We are either a nation of laws, goverend by right behavior or we are a nation ruled by chaos – selecting what is right and wrong based on the mood of the day.
So, it’s “just” glitter? Or, it’s “just” a comment? Or, the communicable disease was “just” coughed onto the salad bar? Or it’s “just” a pie thrown in the face. Those who don’t think this type of behaviour is actionable should read the law as it pertains to their jurisdiction.
There are many people I know who will not tolerate this type of behaviour – they know the law and they will take action when this type of thing happens. Is one justified to use physical force – check the law. Given the uncertainty of the exact composition of the material thrown on Newt, I believe that physical reactions would be justified.
