Worst. President. Ever… Percent of Americans Working Lowest Since Reagan

Worst. President. Ever.
Barack Obama is the worst jobs president since the Great Depression.
And, the jobs situation is even worse than we thought.
USA Today reported:
The share of the population that is working fell to its lowest level last year since women started entering the workforce in large numbers three decades ago, a USA TODAY analysis finds.
Only 45.4% of Americans had jobs in 2010, the lowest rate since 1983 and down from a peak of 49.3% in 2000. Last year, just 66.8% of men had jobs, the lowest on record.
The bad economy, an aging population and a plateau in women working are contributing to changes that pose serious challenges for financing the nation’s social programs…
Another change: the bulk of those not working has shifted from children to adults.
In 2000, the nation had roughly the same number of children and non-working adults. Since then, the population of non-working adults has grown 27 million while the nation added just 3 million children under 18.
More bad news… The Labor Department showed initial claims for state unemployment benefits rose 27,000 to a seasonally adjusted 412,000 this week, well above economists’ expectations for a fall to 380,000.

Actually to be honest gw handed this president a disaster. If you look at a chart just after obama was elected hes steadily and consistently improved the labor situation month after month.

I love how the libs assume we’re in love with W’s policies. Find the definition of “neocon” and you’ll see it’s got not much to do with conservatism.
That aside, Obama has only made things far, far worse. Just how long can Bush be blamed? Sometime in Obama’s second term? 2032? No, considering we can’t even get back to 2010 levels of insanity as we’re too far past that – I don’t buy any of it.
But please, enlighten us and develop said chart for us to gaze upon the steadily and consistently improving “labor situation”. I’d love some good news.

I will agree that at the end of GWB’s term our economic status was teetering on the edge. Obama has pushed it over the cliff – WITHOUT A DOUBT!
IF you are a small business owner (which I am), anywhere in this nation you will find that since Obama, business owner’s doors have been closing up right and left. I have never witnessed anything like this – in my lifetime. It is by far the worst climate this country has seen.
Those who work in the public sector (I’m betting that is You, fredrica), you may not notice the demise of our private sector, YET, but you will because it will eventually hit you in your own backyard. For those of you out there who STILL do not understand, it is the private sector that sustains America. Capitalism has always been the answer and will always be the answer!

REALLY? Here in California there isnt a construction project anywheres except Govt. Highway crap and a few commercial gigs..

I cannot recall a single month since Obama took office that the unemployment numbers were not fudged, refudged and then revised – invariably upwards. I would be extremely surprised if you could actually find any accurate data to put into a chart.

When he was sworn in, the crash had started 20 months prior and unemployment was at 7.8%. He then passed the stimulus that month, and since then unemployment has gone up 1% overall with 12 monthly increases, 6 months without change and 8 months where unemployment fell. Even over the last 10 months, unemployment rose 3 times, fell 5 times and stayed the same twice. So:
18 stagnant/decline vs 8 improvements (31% improvement rate) – entire presidency
5 stagnant/decline vs 5 improvements (50% improvement rate) – last 10 months
Side-note – he has somehow even managed to do that poorly while adding half a million people onto Government payrolls with the Census Workers.
That is hardly “improved labor situation month after month”. In fact, it should be argued that he hasnt improved labor situation one single bit since historically we naturally start coming out of recessions much faster then the stagnant situation he currently has us in 46 months (just short of 4 years) after it first started.

Might as well throw the Ca Teachers Union in there also…What a joke our public schools have become.
They spend around 13k per year per student and the private school average is 9 k…What a value huh?

Remember 30 years ago, more families fit the traditional “father working, mother staying at home with the kids” model. I doubt that is happening today. People just can’t find work and a lot of those people are retiring early. $6 gas, inflation and chronic unemployment. By November 2012, a ham sandwich will be able to beat Obama.

That BayBridge ramp issue is nothing. Here in SoCal I watched them spend years building a 405 overpass, only to find fatal cracks upon completion.
But that incompetence doesn’t even touch the Riverside 215 issue. At the 215/91/60 intersection, Cal-Trans spent 4 years (2 years over projections) and went $125 million over budget to create an overpass that has since seen the ramps concrete crumbling onto the lower Chicago Ave not once, but twice!
