US News and World Report today reported:
GOP Boss Says Birther Claims a Distraction
Newly-installed Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus has a message for Donald Trump and other so-called “birthers”: Shut up!
Priebus, who’s starting to score some fundraising and organizational victories inside GOP HQ, having taken over for controversial former Chairman Michael Steele, says the debate over President Obama’s birthplace and whether he can be president is a huge distraction away from the party’s effort to fight Democratic spending and tax plans.
Unfortunately, it’s not true.
It was made it up out of whole cloth.
GOP Chair Reince Priebus says he never said it.
This is just more proof that the enemedia will do anything to protect their favorite socialist Obama.

If Obama’s birth issue is so important to him why hasn’t he raised it when it did really matter, when Hillary Clinton’s lawyer directed it to the Supreme Court?
When it could indeed hurt Obama most and perhaps could derail his run for presidency.
Trump was then a known Bush hater and apparently Obama’s birth didn’t bother him at all.
I’m also critical of Bush’s Presidency but Trump misjudged Bush entirely and evidently believed that removing Bush from his office was more important to him than the issue of Obama’s elegibility.
Now Trump is threatening to go third party if he doesn’t get GOP’s nomination.
He is virtually blackmailing Republicans.
Can anyone imagine if Sarah Palin announced that if she doesn’t get the nomination she takes TEA party and goes independent?
It would certainly be easily for her considering her popularity within Tea party.
After all many its memebers threatened to do so if GOP disregards Sarah.
Yet she has worked for the unity of Conservative cause like no one else.
If she did that though, her political career would be over in a matter of a second.
Trump stinks increasingly to me like a Democratic plant.

The part about eligibility that matters now is states that are in the process of passing stringent requirements for getting on the ballot in future elections. States who do this may be closed to Obama in 2012. The more states who do that, the more trouble he has getting a second term.

Donald Trump is a New York businessman. He lives in New York and most of his interests are in New York. Those donations should be viewed — and explained — as what they are: Protection money paid to the Democratic politicians who can help, or hurt, Donald Trump. After all, it’s not like New York State has a competitive political environment. If you want to do business in New York, you have to pay the Democrats.
Plus, until his recent declaration a few weeks ago that he’s a “Republican”, I had always been under the impression that Donald Trump thought he was a Democrat himself. Doesn’t anyone remember back in 1992 that this guy was flirting with the idea of running for President once before, as a Democrat?
In my opinion, Trump needs to explain to America that the party left him. He’s a business guy who always thought there was a place for him in the Democratic Party, and it’s only the recent lurch toward complete socialism that woke his ass up. He’s concerned because a socialist America with a moribund economy will hurt Trump’s business interests along with all of ours. He’s a real estate mogul who depends on a growth economy.
He also needs to make peace with the social conservatives, and it’s not going to be by making these ridiculous assertions that suddenly he’s had a pro-life epiphany, or that Jesus is his best friend. Donald Trump needs to say he’s a person with the usual assortment of human weaknesses — his being for pretty women — and sins, but that he’s not running to be President of our local church board. Now is the time to set aside the social agenda, get the economy growing again, and above all else, take action to avert catastrophe. Talk to us straight about these issues, Chris Christie-style, Donald, and you’ll have this libertarian’s attention.

According to the New York Daily News, Trump’s been a registered Republican as far back as 1987, and it was in 1999 that he was flirting with running for President as a candidate for the Independence Party. So he’s not always been a Democrat. But he registered as a Democrat from 2001 (before 9/11) to 2009.

He is a Native Born Citizen, not a Natural Born Citizen. They are two different things.

When Trump was at first saying that he’d only run on the Republican ticket, I thought he was on the up-and-up. He’s since changed his tune and says he’ll run as an Independent if he thinks he can win. Whatever. He could be honest about that last part and go into thinking he can win but that doesn’t mean that he will win. The time to prove Obama ineligible is not over. However, you have a point about fighting birth certificates and other records. These can play a role, but the fact that Obama’s father was not a U.S. citizen at the time of Obama’s birth automatically renders Obama ineligible. One must have both parents as U.S. citizens at the time of one’s birth to be a natural born citizen of the U.S.A. Obama does not have this as his father was not a citizen at the time of his birth (he has never been a U.S. citizen).
We do not need a birth certificate to prove Obama’s ineligibility. His father’s lack of citizenship renders him ineligible.
This issue came up with Trump when it was said his mother was not naturalized at the time of his birth. Turns out she was naturalized several years prior to Trump’s birth. Trump is a natural born citizen of the U.S.A. and is eligible to run for President. Obama is not.
These are not only valid issues for 2012. They are matters of our identity as a sovereign nation governed by the constitution, which outlines who we are as a nation. The issue of a president’s identity as a natural born citizen of the United States of America is at the very core of who we are as a nation.
Therefore, the time for dealing with this issue will not be over until the condition of our White House is brought back into agreement with our Constitution.

The issue is NATURAL BORN CITIZEN. I don’t have access to Black’s at the moment, but we all know that citizenship is a legal term, defined by the laws of a country. We know that in the USA the 14th Amendment states that persons born in the USA except for the children of foreign diplomats are citizens.
The question is what does Natural Born mean? A person must be both Natural Born and a citizen to be a Natural Born Citizen.
And Black’s and Edwin Meese, and the vast overwhelming majority of constitutional scholars say that the Natural Born definition is simply citizenship at birth, of which the vast majority are born in the USA. And the original definition of Natural Born referred ONLY to the place of birth, not to the parents.

I’d sure like to see more attention focussed on the failing economy by deliberate action, and the ObamaNoCare defund. I think these issues are being driven off the front burner by crappy speeches by Obama all the time, his travelling and stories about same, and the birth records. BigL, all of the topic/issues you mentioned are important, including those mention as not being important. With the number of news outlets and the US, and the number of so-called journalists, investigative journalists and reporters working for each, there’s no good reason that all of those stories aren’t being investigated and reported. As for “focus,” the enemedia may treat us like children who can’t take interest in, read or watch, learn and retain reports on a variety of topics/issues (all with one common denominator, anyway), focusing for us on Charlie Sheen this week and Trump’s a Stoopid Birfer the next, but we’re not. We’re each perfectly capable of closely following a number of stories, particularly those we feel we’re most affected by personally, and more even if not as closely. Why the entire enemedia gets stuck on one story at a time, I don’t know. Laziness, perhaps? Following one another like a dog chasing its own tail? Beats me.

I have NO problem with Trump running as a Democrat. He should always be introduced as such EVERY time he shows up – the Democrat challenger to Obama.
He will probably run as an Independent, expressly to split the GOP vote, with the birth certificate as BAIT.
He’s talking like Joseph McCarthy – “I have the evidence in my briefcase,” without presenting anything.
Real investigators don’t’ say ANYTHING until they’ve got the irrefutable goods in hand.
