Barack Obama continued to blame Bush and lecture on the national deficit yesterday at a town hall event in Reno. The far left president blamed Bush and tax cuts for the current financial crisis. He also told the crowd of leftist supporters,
“We can’t just let the rich relax and count their money.”

Via FOX Nation:

If only we would have listened to Joe the Plumber while we still had a chance.

Just to be clear…
Obama said he was going to cut the deficit in half back in 2009. Instead he tripled it his first year in office and it’s only getting worse.

The Obama deficit this year will reach $1.65 trillion. (The Captain’s Comments)

Obama didn’t mention that in his speech.

  1. Hmmm…

Barry is “rich”. Annual income well over $250,000.
Barry relaxes quite a bit, golfs, parties, etc…

  2. I intensely detest that SOB and his puppet masters!

  3. Disgusting! What a punk.

  4. He makes me ill! The only thing he is good at is creating class warfare!

    And his followers are dangerous!

  5. ADVERTISEMENT

  6. I wonder if he’s going to be doing any regular public appearances for campaign purposes. Or will they be all closed, by invitation only, fundraisers? I’m betting on the latter. During the 2008 campaign the Tea Party didn’t exist. Now, if he comes to my town for a public appearance plus speech, he will be met with a sea of Tea Party signs. I would make my absolute best sign for the occasion. And he wouldn’t like it one bit.

  7. Soetero is increasingly…..desperate….ummmm…..yeah…..

Go Trump, West,Ryan, Issa, Grassley,! Keep up the Pressure….

  8. Who are these rich he is taking about? Immelt? Pelosi? His Honor Obama?
He is outrageous and needs to be stopped.

  9. Obama’s escalating rhetoric signals that his campaign is going to grasp the Wisconsin nettle and go for all-out class warfare, if necessary. That’s REALLY fascinating. Not even the appearance of a conciliatory approach anymore.

The demagoguery is indeed nauseating. Worse, it’s just intellectually insulting and embarrassing.

A president should not sound like a two bit community agitator. Alas, when he happens to be one…

  10. The commercials just keep writing themselves. This one could ask… Are you as confused and clueless as President Obama is ?

“We can’t just let the rich relax and count their money.”

on signing Bush Tax cut extensions…“This is progress and that’s what they sent us here to achieve,” Obama said

“We’re not trying to push financial reform because we begrudge success that’s fairly earned. I mean, I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money.

“I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.” — defending his tax plan to Joe the Plumber

Let’s take another trillion of that [money] that we raise through a reform in the tax system,” Obama said at Facebook headquarters, “that allows people like me — and, frankly, you, Mark — for paying a little more in taxes.” “I’m cool with that,” deadpanned Zuckerberg, whose fortune is estimated at close to $15 billion, as the audience laughed appreciatively. “I know you’re okay with that,” the president shot back.

  11. I don’t want anyone to think I’m a bigot, but change a word or two, and you’re in 1930′s Germany. We’ve heard this before. Today excuse is that it’s “the Rich”; yesterday it was “the Speculators”. Scapegoating is stock in trade for tyrants and tinpot dictators throughout history. It’s always somebody else’s fault. I’m starting to get pretty uncomfortable with all this blamecasting.

Is “the Rich” just code for “the Joooz”? Is it really the greedy “International Jewish Banking Conspiracy” that’s causing all of this? What the hell – is Obama taking his political and economic advice from Louis Farakhan these days? Or is Farakhan taking his counsel from Obama?

I know that Obama thinks this kind of nasty, divisive talk is going to get his sorry butt reelected, but it’s appalling to me that Obama apparently thinks we’re that stupid. I just hope he’s not right.

  12. Hauser’s Law

there’s a fascinating graph showing that NO MATTER HOW HIGH OR LOW TAX RATES ARE, tax revenues will NEVER exceed 20% of GDP. Raising taxes is NOT the answer. Raising GDP is the answer. The more productive the country’s economy is, the more taxes it will yield.

You don’t cut a bigger piece out of the pie to solve deficit/debt problems. You bake a bigger pie, and cut a proportionally sized piece out of it (20%) to yield more tax money.

  13. I’m willing to compromise on paying Social Justice do-gooders ‘fair share’ of federal income taxes, I’ll pay what 47% of American’s pay…Nothing, Nada, Zero.

Fair is fair, sharing and caring for the social justice do-gooders; I’ll pay exactly what the Social Justice do-gooders pay…Nothing, Nada, Zero.

  14. Hey, Obama! The RICH are Americans too. Unless being rich is crime, STFU and do your job to guarantee the liberties for ALL AMERICANS, including the rich.

  15. dwd, I think your refering to the Laffer curve.

Bobdog, your seeing it right. What have you done to prepare for the economy and society falling into disarray??? Stock up, it’s not too late. The crash is coming though.

    powder is dry

  16. He also didn’t mention that on his OWN tax return, he took full advantage of the lower Bush tax rate. If he wanted to be a real leader on this issue, why didn’t he put his money where his mouth is and voluntarily pay the higher rate, that HE himself is pushing for?

  17. #9

You can fill in the blank with any group that fits the Soetero strategy formulated & enacted by the murderous tyrants of history….especially those of the 20th century….

    He will use…race…wealth…religion…gender….age….traditional values…cultural/ethnic differences…ideological confusion etc….
because this is all these people know…the strategy of resentment of the “have nots” towards the “haves”…

  18. Hey Obama. . . you sound smart. . real smart. . .NOT!!! Did you think of this all by yourself or did you pay a speechwriter to come up with it for you?

You sound so Presidential- – - Not!!! And definitely not a uniter. Just a radical divider. . . of the worse kind!

And by the way, don’t you mean the rich relaxing and PLAYING GOLF?????
Hey don’t you play GOLF too??? Too Much that is. . . .
while Angry Big Mama flies her & her friends around on taxpayer expense!

By the way, the if the rich are counting their money it is because you and your “never worked a real job” staff are busy taxing them and taking their money away. . . I think you called it redistributing wealth!!!

or maybe they are counting it for the “i” word. . INVESTMENT! (Obama not all “I” words are about you!!! Unless we mean you are Incompetent, Inept, Inexperienced)

INVESTMENT. . . yes . . the fuel that drives the economy (not just consumption). . . investment in new businesses, new buildings, new equipment, and maybe even investment in hiring people. . . ever heard of risk/reward O-buma???

2012 can’t come soon enough for this man-child to go back to counting on his toes!

    Obama – - – Incompetent, Inept, Inexperienced. . . & a radical socialist – - -O-buma!!

  19. Pathetic! This is one terrible man.

  20. He said it in San Francisco, too.

It’s not because we want to punish success. It’s because if we’re going to ask everybody to sacrifice a little, we can’t just tell millionaires and billionaires they don’t have to do a thing — just relax, that’s fine. We’ll take care of this. (Laughter.) Go count your money. That’s fine. (Laughter and applause.)

  21. Barack Obama is so full of crap its ridiculous!! I mean how much of a hypocrite can he be?! Instead of flying around to Hollywood doing fundraisers, STFU and do the job the people elected you to do. If not, we will vote your sorry-ass out of office in November 2012!!

  22. This is getting to be a pattern. He said it in Los Angeles, too. ..In front of fat cats at Sony:

    http://www.myfoxphoenix.com/dpps/news/politics/obama-westside-fundraisers-20110421_12866122

We don’t want to punish success, but what we do want is a society where if we’re going to ask everybody to sacrifice a little bit, we don’t just tell millionaires and billionaires, `Oh you don’t have to do anything, you just go ahead and relax. Count your money.”‘

  23. Socialism is the fraudulent bargain that we each can live at the expense of others, all made possible by a coercive government that seeks to intrude into ever-finer details of our economic and personal lives. Those who are familiar with the Ten Commandments will easily see how this must violate the Commandments that forbid lies, coveting and theft.

As a capitalist, I can assure BHO that any person who lives by investing is busy seeking “yield”, because the government’s monetary puppet, the Federal Reserve Corporation, has driven the amount that savings pays down to almost zero. So, in order to pay my own bills, I must search far and wide for investment opportunities that offer some hope of growing my capital and paying me back in proportion to the risk it entails.

I know better than to just count “money”, for I know to not confuse money with wealth. Government is busy destroying the value of the money, so not only do I have to grow the number of dollars, I have to grow them faster than government is inflating them, that is after accounting for the tax on “income” caused solely by inflation.

When more money flows into precious metal and commodity ETFs than into stocks, there is something drastically wrong with the investment environment.

If we are looking for why job growth is so pitiful, we only have to look to how government has destroyed investment opportunities and allowing investors to preserve and grow their wealth.

  24. $76,000 a plate fundraiser at a billionaire’s home in SF.
Those rich white folks obviously don’t believe they are included in the rich he’s talking about or are they THAT easy to mesmerize?
It’s hard to believe they don’t see how much he hates them… but Obama has a sorta creepy ability to mirror back what people want to see when they look at him.

  25. Yeah, those rich bastards, they don’t work. They just sit around and count their money.

    PURE. EVIL!

  26. I just love hearing this fraud, the Obamboozler, lecture everyone. Proto-typical elitist snob with his hand in your pocket and contempt for Americans oozing from every pore.

Nothing like making out the payroll while getting this guy’s view on how the world should work. It takes me $1.30 to get $1 into a workers pocket after the payroll taxes and the withholds that hit people making $9-$15/hr. I send everyone a note on not just their pay slip but the total that I pay to DC so they can pee it away.

The follow up at Facebook should be to find employees who think they are undertaxed.

  27. What amazes me is how much money these idiots pay to hear him say this crap!

  28. This is the fraud who boasts that he’s going to spend a billion dollars on getting himself reelected. He’s lower than pond scum — which at least has some purpose in nature.

  30. MC – Hauser’s Law and Laffer Curve are similar, but:

“The proposition was first put forward in 1993 by William Kurt Hauser, a San Francisco investment economist, who wrote, ‘No matter what the tax rates have been, in postwar America tax revenues have remained at about 19.5% of GDP.’[3]

Hauser cited Arthur Laffer’s concept of the Laffer curve in his original article. While the two concepts are similar, Hauser’s Law was put forward as an empirical observation whereas the Laffer curve was thought of theoretically.[4]”
    -wikipedia

The original link I posted used actual observed empirical evidence to show the ratio of tax revenue to GDP was always ~20%, while the Laffer Curve shows the theoretical relationship between tax revenue and tax rates. Laffer showed that in theory the more you raise tax rates the more unproductive it becomes, which is why during those periods of time when tax rates were astronomical, the Hauser’s Law graph still doesn’t spike over 20%.

Laffer – raising taxes past a certain point hurts revenue
Hauser – no matter the tax rate, tax revenue won’t exceed 20% of GDP, so anyone who makes future plans/budgets/predictions using a higher number than 20% is an idiot and not to be trusted (aka, Barack Obama)

  32. Since when is it a crime to be “rich” in this country?
Since when are we now supposed to hate our neighbors because they are “rich”?
Since when are we supposed to confiscate money from the “rich” because someone else isn’t?
Inciting Americans to hate and envy each other over money is creepy…

  33. I notice is approval rating is holding steady in Rasmussen. I also read that if unemployment drops below 8% he’s lock for re-election. Well, here’s the deal. Unemployment could be at 20% and MSM would say it’s 7. The nation’s mood might be sour, but the MSM prints all this happy talk and the only ones who are depressed are us. So let’s get ready to rebuild in 2016.

  34. What a pathetic POS!!! Yes we had a surplus in 2000 but we then the tech bubble burst!!! Revenue dropped, jobs were lost and the stock market tanked, but we recovered thanks to the policies of the Bush presidency!!! His anger for this country and the people is barely contained. Who does he think is paying for him to fly all around the country??? The 50% who pay no taxes???

  35. It seems we have in WTF the first case where a president spent the full four years of his time in the White House campaigning for the second four years.

Americans have got to stop allowing him to create a gulf between us and fellow Americans. We all make mistakes, voting etc. we have but one enemy in this country, and that is WTF and those he owes his allegiance to. Police, firefighters, even union members are for the most part Americans first. People like Soros, Trumpka, Bob King, Ayers, Al the manpig Gore, Reverend Wright (not even) are the enemy of America and her citizens. These are who need to be targeted, marginalized, exposed, and rejected by America. Yes I understand union hired thugs, and the New Black Panthers are a threat but only because they are WTF and his handlers private army.

  40. The Khmer Rouge killed people for “pre-revolutionary lifestyles and crimes” which usually included some kind of free-market activity; having had contact with a foreign source, such as a U.S. missionary, international relief or government agency, or contact with any foreigner or with the outside world at all.

Just thought it was worth mentioning.

  41. dwd, you’re preaching to the choir. The irrefutable evidence and simple math cannot be disputed unless you’re a warped, angry ‘progressive’.
My German mother says this is all so familiar.

  42. Note….If you confiscate ALL the wealth of the top 10% wealthiest people in this country….it won’t make a damn dent in our deficit.

Note 2….If you take all the money in the U.S. and evenly distribute it to every Citizen in our country, within ten years, the top 10% of all earners will have all the money again.

  43. So, Obama is calling the rich, those that creat companies and jobs, lazy. Isn’t that the pot calling the kettle black? (No racist intent)

  44. “The Khmer Rouge killed people for “pre-revolutionary lifestyles and crimes”
The KR would arrest people if they:
    wore glasses
    had soft hands
    had pale skin
as they thought this indicated that they were educated.
When the people were arrested and brought to S-21 their photo was taken. The museum has these photos on display and it is a haunting experiences looking into the eyes of those who were subjected to such awful and heinous crimes.

  45. “we can just let the rich sit back and count THEIR money.” was that the politicans he was talking about. the only ones exploiting the working class in america today is the american politican.

  46. there is no redistribution of wealth in socialism, only confiscation of wealth from the working class to the ruling class. that has been the trend in america over the last fifty years.

  47. the only redistribution we need in america is from the ruling class politican back to the people that worked for it and earned it. any of you union leaders out there listening!

  48. Never have been so repulsed by a person in all my 58 years.

  49. Funny, the millionaire I work for doesn’t just sit around counting his money … he’s been working on new ways to invest it.

As a result, his company has grown significantly in the six years since I came on board … and the number of employees working here has grown about 25% in those six years … including all these years of recession recently.

And he’s started a second venture, that will employ some more people as it grows.

I’d wager he’s “created or saved” way more jobs-per-dollar-invested, than the Re-, er, Progressive geniuses currently in charge in DC.

Maybe they should just sit back and count the money … and make sure they aren’t taking money away from those who REALLY create jobs.

BTW, Mr. President … you raise the taxes on that millionaire, you are taxing me and all the other employees who make a lot less than $1M, because he shares his profit with us … and taxes count against that profit.

Ignore that, and you prove my point about the Best and Brightest being dim bulbs …

  50. tommy, your words ring true …

… the “rich” and corporations can only exploit us when they can collude with government to do so.

Otherwise, our freedom-of-choice and market competition effectively negates their power.

As I often point out, if corporations had the kind of power Re-, er, Progressives say they do, Sam Walton would have wound up as a greeter at Sears, instead of taking so much business from Sears.

They only have that kind of power, when government colludes with them to give them an advantage over their competition … and us.

The irony is, the very Progressives who decry Corporate America as the corrupting force in our society, are advocating policies that expand the opportunities for the very crony capitalism they decry.

Another proof that the Best and Brightest are often dim bulbs …

  51. 0bama:

We can’t just let the rich relax and count their money…like Nancy Pelosi!

Those wealthy people making over $250,000 per year should be stripped of their money. Sure, I make over $250,000 a year…what? Read the teleprompter? Ah crap! I can’t see the teleprompter. Please adjust it. Thank you.

Let me start over. We can’t just let the rich relax and count their money. We need to take it from them! [applause]

Thank you… unless they are wealth limousine liberals – like me!

Sure, I have never held an honest job in my life and never paid any meaningful amount of taxes. I am a net tax recipient! I just stick my hand in other people’s pockets and spend their money. Ha ha!

My limousine is burning premium gas. I don’t pay for it – the Taxpayers do! I think I have made my point! {sniff} The Taxpayers suck! I don’t know why anybody would want to be a Taxpayer. We should take all of their money! That is my campaign promise! Good day.

  52. Mona, #47, I agree. Obama is vile. The sight and sound of him make me say words that are not usually in my vocabulary. And I have little regard for the morons who insisted he would be a good president. They all have a great deal to answer for.
