If you thought the Muslim Brotherhood would sit back and watch this opportunity in Egypt pass them by you were horribly naive. The disciplined and organized Islamist groups are already stealing the revolution from the youth groups.

Today thousands of protesters rallied in Tahrir Square in Cairo. But it may be too late.
CNN reported:
Thousands of demonstrators gathered in Cairo’s famous Tahrir Square on Friday, as part of an effort by liberal activists to revive their movement after a series of perceived political set-backs. Dubbed the “Friday to Save the Revolution,” the rally is an effort to show opposition to a recent proposed law which would criminalize protests. It is also an effort to re-assert the youth movement which drove former president Hosni Mubarak from power.
Many liberal activists fear they have been side-lined since Mubarak’s February 11 overthrow by Egypt’s ruling military council and by more politically-experienced Islamist groups, well disciplined after operating for decades in secret while facing harsh persecution.
“We want to ensure that our revolution is not stolen from us,” The group denounced a recent raid by soldiers to break up a sit-in at Cairo University. It also demanded the prosecution of several former allies of Mubarak and the removal of Mubarak supporters from top positions at Egyptian television stations and newspapers.
In a recent interview with CNN, a spokesman for the Youth Coalition conceded that liberal groups were scrambling to catch up with better-established political organizations like the 83-year old Muslim Brotherhood ahead of parliamentary elections, scheduled to take place in September.
“We are in a competition with time,” said Mohamed Taman, an artist who suffered a bullet wound to the eye from security forces during the protests that began on January 25th. “For the next parliament elections we are sure that we will not be able to be ready.”
Unfortunately, Obama Administration officials won’t be much help to these Egyptian freedom fighters. They’re too busy fighting a kinetic military operation in Libya to notice that Egypt is being lost to the Islamists.

Protesters demand Mubarak face trial in Egypt
[Thousands of people have gathered on Friday in Tahrir Square in the
Egyptian capital, Cairo, calling for ousted president Hosni Mubarak and
members of his former administration to face justice.
The demonstration, dubbed "Friday for the rescue of the revolution," was
organised by the Youth Revolution Coalition, a group founded by the young
activists who started the January 25 protests that led to the end of
Mubarak's rule.
The protest called for remaining members of Mubarak's regime to be put
on trial, namely Fathi Serour, the former parliament speaker, Zakariya Azmi,
head of the presidential palace, and Safwat al-Sherif, the former secretary
general of the ruling party.]

Ah, what sweet, sweet satisfaction to have CNN report what anyone with two grey cells bumbing together already knew, that the Muslim Brotherhood would wind up being the controlling power in Egypt after all the dust settles. Unfortunately, the occupant of the Oval Office seems to lack two grey cells.
And how nice that bg (granny) still supports, and prays for, the rebels in Egypt, only it seems she is no longer willing to do it with her last breath. (Medical problems and all that, you know)
Perhaps bg should read the Pew Research poll that tells us exactly what the Egyptian street thinks about the U.S. and how it feels about living under Shi’ria law. The people bg (granny) needs to pray for are us Americans.

bg, first, I have NEVER said I don’t read your posts. I don’t read your stupid links. If you want to link to something, start your own damn blog.
Also, you seem a bit sensitive, calling my criticism of you “ad hominem” attacks. Believe me, if I wanted to “attack” you, you would be running to lick your wounds.
I know you think you are the smartest brick in the wall, but you’re not. You constantly embarrass yourself here, but unfortunately, I don’t think you have the brain power to know it. You say stupid stuff like how you will defend the Egyptian protesters with your dying breath. But then, you said that with your medical excuse in hand, showing YOUR hypocracy.
I still recommend you have that discussion with your doctors about Aracept.

No, they’re not in competition with time. Time’s already run out for them. They just don’t know it yet. It will take a while for this to sink in.
“We want to ensure that our revolution is not stolen from us”
You never had it to begin with. These “youth coalitions” are usually made up of a fringe group. University students. How many of those exist in Egypt compared to the rest of the population? Exactly. How many of the, let’s say, 20 year old Egyptians are students? Not many. The MB will always get more people into the streets when necessary. And they have one significant advantage: they won’t be afraid or hesitant to exterminate any resistance.
Peaceful protests against them won’t work. Violent protests will be terminated quickly.
It’s funny though, those kids in that youth coalition, they are mohammedan. Yet their own “faith” just fooled them into this. It’s amusing.
This Freedom & Democracy Coalition is done for. That was obvious from the very beginning. Cause, you know… as long as they have islam, they won’t have freedom and democracy. Yes, it’s that simple.
SandyfromChesterfield commented:
Let this be a warning to the teachers, firefighters and police that are protesting with the Communists! The Communists will not need you after they get what they want. Exactly why Hitler got rid of the unions AFTER he took control of Germany.
