It’s not clear what was more crazy about this video, Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. blaming Republicans for the Obama unemployment rate or Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. blaming the IPad for killing jobs.
Via Real Clear Video:
The unemployment rate increased from 4.6% to 9.4% during the Pelosi years.
The unemployment rate has skyrocketed under Obama.

The percent of the population that is working fell to its lowest level last year since women started entering the workforce in large numbers three decades ago during the Reagan years. More Americans now work for the government than in manufacturing, farming, fishing, forestry, mining and utilities combined.

Yeah… That idea was already tried before. It was called communism and it failed miserably.

Does anyone have any suggestions for the employees who have or will lose their jobs because current printed matter is completely digitized?
I was in a supermarket yesterday and overheard a conversation between two people in the self-checkout line. They were complaining about the high prices and the lack of jobs, yet there they were in the self-serve line denying a worker a job because they were more intent on doing for themselves for no salary and still paying higher prices to support the technology to self-checkout and proving to the manager that the store can operate with even fewer employees.
Sorry folks. Jackson is right on this one.

Hey Dumba$$ – it creates jobs when you actually make and sell things!
(to his credit though, it is extremely difficult for all Commies/Socialists to grasp this rather simple fact; so I don’t hold him personally responsible for such an idiotic statement. Rather, its the colleges that teach Utopian Ideological over practical reality which are probably really to blame…)

Technology causes job shifts and changes, it doesn’t take jobs.

So that’s why 41% of Americans, and 35% of independent voters, think Obama is doing a satisfctory job. By this time in the 10 post WWII recession/recoveries jobs were higher 4.5% than they were before the recession. Now, they are 0.1%. Plus, comparing the same recoveries each American would be about $3,000 richer each years going forward. Regulatioins, threatening entrepreneurs, Dodd-Frank, taxes, taking over health care all killed the recovery.
I blame Bush for not issuing a signing statement/executive order prohibiting incompetent, demagogues to be on the ballot in a presidential election.

Yeah, but you always have to factor in the black vote in such totals. They still support him at a rate well over 80% – remove that level of support and you realize its almost non-existent.
Plus, I’ll tell you, being in L.A. (CA) most of my conversations about him come not only with blacks, but also actual self-proclaimed democrats. They don’t like him! They “support” him because he is the first black president – but they don’t like him or his policies.
And that’s likely why there is such a gigantic (almost unbelievable) disconnect between his “approval rating” and every one of his actual policies approval ratings in all these polls…

Higher prices for self-checkout, Indigo Red?
I don’t think so … they wouldn’t be buying the technology, otherwise. Keep in mind the technology the humans are using to do the same job … it isn’t that much less.
And with that technology, you also don’t have to worry about it calling in sick … or texting to their BFFs while customers wait in line … or being unable to reconcile their cash drawer.
All that reduces costs, and prices (thanks to competition) … which means that EVERYONE ELSE’s purchasing power grows.
Even those with the lowest incomes. Re-, er, Progressives never seem to count that expansion of purchasing power as a benefit to the less fortunate.
Why isn’t it the responsibility of the WORKER to remain competitive, if they want to keep the job … or find a position where they can be competitive. Why do we “owe” them support at our expense?
OTOH, I do like to use a human checker/bagger myself if I have more than one or two things … but that is my choice, for my convenience, and I will pay the price for the added value I perceive.
But I don’t sit up on a pedestal, and demand that others give up that choice to save a job of someone I deem “worthy” of protection.

A few days ago some congresswoman was going on and on about we need a ‘vision’ for the future, and government should pay for that ‘vision’, instead of worrying about debt.
Is this congressman providing some of that ‘vision’? The ‘vision’ is to regress? To reject technology advances and go back to publication and production methods of last decade? This is not adding up somehow.
My word- this man wants us to ‘save jobs’ by going back to last decade, meanwhile the rest of the world is surging ahead with latest technology and labor-saving methods. (Some of them with unfriendly intentions, by the way.)
Obama was saying a few days ago that America was becoming a third-world nation. Mr. Jackson here seems to be leading that effort. Color me confused.
Best regards, Peter Warner.

I think he’s on to something here, destroy productivity to save a few low wage jobs. Perhaps we should expand this idea to other areas as well? Maybe we can save a few jobs by getting off oil, coal, and nuclear power as well?
