It’s a good thing you’re funding them.
Planned Parenthood spent more than a million dollars last year to get democrats elected.

They’re still at it.

On March 25, the Planned Parenthood bus was in Madison, Wisconsin to protest against Republican Governor Scott Walker.

The Washington Examiner reported, via FOX Nation:

Here’s something to keep in mind as Democrats risk a government shutdown in order to preserve federal subsidies of Planned Parenthood. From the Center for Responsive Politics:

In 2010, Planned Parenthood and a California affiliate together spent more than $700,000 on federal lobbying efforts, a Center for Responsive Politics analysis of federal lobbying records finds. By comparison, all other organizations that primarily advocate for abortion rights collectively spent $247,280 on federal lobbying efforts during the same period, according to the Center’s research.

Planned Parenthood’s political influence efforts hardly stop at lobbying.

The organization’s political action committee, for example, donated more than $148,000 to federal candidates — almost all Democrats — during the 2010 election cycle. The PAC spent more than $443,000 overall.

Republicans voted to strip the abortion group from receiving $363 million in taxpayer funds but senate democrats put it back in the budget. It’s like taking your money to fund their campaigns.

  1. The headline needs an “M”

  2. Planned Parenthood also recorded $905,796 in independent expenditures during the 2010 cycle — money spent in support of, or in opposition to, federal political candidates, largely through advertisements. The top beneficiaries of this money were Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) and Patty Murray (D-Wash.).

  3. Planned Parenthood spokeswoman Tait Sye recently told Bloomberg Businessweek that 90 percent of that $363.2 million came directly from the federal government or from Medicaid, a federal-state program. Thus, Planned Parenthood received about $326.88 million from federal programs in 2009.

Although the money from federal programs that went to Planned Parenthood in 2009 theoretically paid for things other than the 332,278 abortions the organization performed that year, the fact remains that Planned Parenthood—an abortion provider–received subsidies from federal programs that equaled about $932 per abortion it performed.

  4. And how much did the Dread Pirates Koch spend getting Republicans elected?

And how much of the money PP spent was given to them via tax dollars and “stimulus” funds?

What a world. What a world.

  5. What is that word ???Oh yeah
    KICKBACKS

  6. Democruds pay US taxes to PP who then returns the campaign money to elect them. That’s socialism.

  7. Gov to Gov election plan

  8. Hey Boehner, how about a law that makes it illegal for an organization that accepts direct handouts from the federal government to make political donations?

This is actually somewhat cheering to me, because it points to the possibility that at least some PP offices have some success focusing on their original mission: birth control, as opposed to abortion. The people that I knew that worked for PP vastly preferred making sure that teenagers who were deciding to become sexually active were taking sensible precautions than dealing with the consequences of thoughtless, unprotected sex. Teenagers don’t listen any better to the PP representative than they do to their parents. This is an unfortunate fact.

I submit that, because PP is receiving government funds, that any materials distributed by PP can and should be vetted by anybody who happens to be interested, and that PP can be kept honest by publication of their written materials.

Why not require them to publish all their teaching materials on their website?

  10. I’m with Beef at #8.

  11. we need a law that prohibits individuals or organizations that recieve tax dollars from engaging in political activities. it is the only way this money laundering will be stopped. the politicans take the fruits of our labor, dole it out to people that use it to help them get reelected. this is the same money they claim they are taking to provide us with services. how long are the american people going to put up with this tyranny. notice union leader will complain of this misuse of the workers income.

  12. If you receive taxpayer funds, you should not be allowed to lobby. To take taxpayer dollars and use them to lobby for more taxpayer dollars is a vicious and never-ending cycle of waste.

It’s as ridiculous as unions… force people to be in unions, they pay their union dues, which go to electing Democrats, who pay back the unions with sweet contracts and benefits paid for with tax dollars, rinse and repeat.

If anyone is left who hasn’t figured it out and wants to know why Dems are going ballistic over these efforts against unions and Planned Parenthood, there’s your answer. It’s the cycle of money and power that keeps getting Democrats elected.

  13. Dems would rather shut down America than see their gravy train derailed.

    OT,
Significant investigation being announced by Milwaukee County DA and GOvernment Accountability Board at 2pm tomorrow…….

  15. 8 & 12: Agreed. Unions, PP, Acorn, GE. It should include any organization that receives any subsidy from the government.

  16. You are being SO short sited. Eliminating Planned Parenthood will result in a million new welfare babies within a year, which will cost much much more.

  17. Update at this site says is NOT about last week’s election.

  18. #16….if you didn’t have planned parenthood encouraging young girls to have sex maybe so many of them wouldn’t get pregnent to start with.

  19. OOOOOOoooooohhhhhhhhh, it’s all making sense to me all of a sudden. Harry Reid throwing a hissy fit over abortions? That had me stumped. But the CONTRIBUTIONS to the DEMS on taxpayer nickel, THAT explains their fervor for “women’s health” all of a crystal clear sudden.

    ……………

Typical Left one-dimensional thinking. It will NOt result in one million new welfare babies a year. There will be fewer pregancies as no abortion option means women will think twice about not thinking. Of those reduced number of pregnancies it is playing god to haughtily prophesize the babies will ALL be on welfare. Quite a number of abortions are NOT “welfare” circumstances, they are college students overpartying, professional women who can’t be bothered, a slew of OTHER reasons.

A lot of “welfare” women keep their babies – they get a government payment for them. Each kid is a % increase in the monthly check. What stupid moron aborts when there’s cash involved to keep the baby?

The protecting abortion lobby is full of falsehoods and exaggerations and incredibly rigid scenarios that don’t reflect real life.

  21. Gah. WHat IS it with the pink? It’s suppose to be cute, not associated with death and destruction.

  22. This is the tip of the iceberg, folks. Every government agency, no matter how great, is run by the dims. Every federal government agency has cronies of the Dims in charge and they are skimming the cream off the top to the tune of millions and donating some of it back to the dims campaigns. This is why they don’t want to cut back on any agencies. They have a crony in charge giving them donations. PP is not the exception but the rule. And the louder the dims scream the more money they are collecting. The dims are entrenced in federal government and have been for decades. Why do you think DC overwelmingly votes for dims along with Northern Virginia and Maryland? Clinton retired just about every conservative in government and the dims in charge will only hire other dims or minorities. It’s a lose-lose situation for the rest of us. The republicans in congress know all this but are too scared of the media to make an issue of it.

  23. Another pet peeve of mine is that when I talk to a government worker and they can barely speak English or have a heavy accent. It makes me furious to know that foreigners have taken jobs that our own citizens need. Besides, I don’t want a non citizen or a recent citizen to handle anything re the government.

  24. Without all those abortions, hell, the black bastardy rate might be 70 percent or more.

Wait a minute. The black bastardy rate is 70 percent, despite all those abortions.

  25. an itsy bitsy part of our billion dollar enterprise has to do with killing babies in “urban” areas. our main job is petting furry little bunny rabbits, making cute kitten videos for YouTube, breast exams, and getting Democrats elected. And NPR has an itsy bitsy part in shilling for the Democrat agenda, while their main focus is on producing high quality, cuddly baby panda videos for YouTube.

i am with you bobroberts. i hate poor colored teenagers as much as you do, probably more. why yesterday night, me and a group of my friends dressed up like ghosts in our big billowy white bed sheets and white hats and headed for the home of one of these promiscuous teens.we paraded outside her house nearly the whole night. we had a good ‘ol time hooping and hollering and shooting our guns in the air. didn’t do a lick of good, however.even after burning a big ‘ol cross in her yard, it still didn’t make her go running to Jesus. we were totally stumped. tomorrow night, me and my boys are going to shave our heads, put on some of them Nazi uniforms, and scare that girl straight with a good ‘ol WWII reenactment. if that doesn’t get her off the welfare wagon, i don’t know what will.

i think we lost the narrative a long time ago.

  26. I worked for a non profit for years. It has always been my understanding that a non profit can lose their tax exempt status if they support any political candidate. Guess that doesn’t apply if they support the dims.

H*ll, when I went to work for thse people they were not issuing the six 1099s they should have done each year. I found a letter from the IRS saying if we did not send out these six 1099 we would lose our tax exempt status. But then, the majority of our members were republicans. If we had been dims it would have been a different story. Does anybody really think that Rainbow Push follows the rules to the letter?

  27. Money talks and the Democrats are good listeners. I agree with #11 and #12 . The ban should also include Federal agencies from wasting money on advertising and public relations.

  28. 830,000 breast exams. i thought they didn’t do those.

  29. hehe Nice deal. PP gets money from the GOV and then uses the money so suport one side of the political aisle. No wonder that Demorats are shaking in their boots are the thought that they stop getting political donations. They are righting for themselves.

  30. I remember when Ross Perot ran for president he said his first order of business was to reform Washington and get rid of all lobbyists. He said nothing could get better until that was aqccomplished first. The media painted him as crazy…..NOT.

  31. And, PP gets money from the Susan G. Komen group:

    http://hotair.com/greenroom/archives/2011/03/30/what-are-the-planned-parenthood-contributions-from-the-susan-g-komen-for-the-cure-foundation-used-for/

Stem cell research on aborted babies? Contributions to dems to keep the abortions going?

  32. That’s called money laundering. The Democrat Party is a criminal enterprise, and Planned Parenthood is just one of its arms.

  33. You know it is a funny thing. I was listening to Fox over the weekend, and I heard Kirsten Powers make a solid point. Yes, I know who and what she is and what everything she says is intended to do, but get this (not quoting):

What doesn’t make sense at all is how the Democrats “paid billions” for Planned Parenthood.

I hadn’t thought about this, but with the gov’t about to shut down, even Harry Reid said in his own way that it was PP’s funding that was holding things up. What is that funding? Something like 300 Million right? But the Dems moved another couple of billion to the Republican side before the Republicans caved on the PP issue. So in effect, they salvaged a couple billion dollars of other stuff that they previously felt they just couldn’t cut from the budget in order to keep PP in at 300 million. Kinda like selling your car to pay off the stereo isn’t it? No wonder Democrats can’t write a budget. I wonder how much more they were truly willing to give up to keep PP going? And ironically, the families they target (blacks, as demonstrated on previous telephone sting operations) vote about 90% democrat. They are fighting desperately for the funds to shrink their voting base.

Powers only said the first line of that. The rest is me. But funny to hear a liberal say it first.

  34. sorry,
    #36 salvaged should say sacrificed

  35. I understand PP is a $1 Trillion operation. can’t they operate on $637 million??

  36. One million out, 362 million in. That’s a damn good investment.
