A vast majority of Americans, 73%, blame wasteful government spending for the record deficit.
Gallup reported:

Hat Tip Ben

This is more bad news for President Obama since he tripled the national deficit his first year in office.

The Obama deficit this year will reach $1.65 trillion. (The Captain’s Comments)

This also may explain why the democrats platform to “tax the rich” is not catching on with the masses.

  1. So these ignorant peasants believe that spending money beyond the country’s means are bad for the economy???

  2. Even 56% of rats are figuring this out.

The pigs are flying, albeit low on the wing.

  3. See, it’s not that we waste too much on government spending (other than DOD), it’s that we don’t tax enough.

Especially the Republicans. And the Evil Corporations.

Wait. One and the same. My bad.

  4. #3…don’t believe that the major corporations are run by republicans much less conservatives. that is just a media deception . you don’t go to harvard, standford or the wharton school at penn and come out a conservative.

  5. government waste is democrat gravy. dems wont cut wasteful spending be cause it goes to them.

  6. My,my#1 and#3 you trolls are up early this morning.
Looks like even 56% of the socialist dems are seeing reality now.

  7. So where’s our idiot troll who protests every time Jim posts that graph? You know, the one who blames the 2009 deficit on Bush, even though it was Obama and his Democrat Congress who vastly INCREASED actual spending over the projected levels of Bush’s 2009 budget? You know, the same idiot Obama and Democrat Congress who passed an idiotic near-trillion-dollar NON-stimulus?

  8. And not only on the federal level but also on the local level.

Hell, if the wasteful spending were curbed, most government employees could keep their jobs.

As the economy is now, sooner of later government employees are going to have to be dumped. This has already happen on local levels all over the United States as local budgets have hit the dumper.

  9. I really wonder how much we need ALL of the public employees. There are many who are needed very much but I remember my mother going to work for the Extension dept of a an Agricultural University after my father passed. On of her jobs was to take people on public assistance out to the shopping malls and teach them the proper way to shop.
That would be one of the jobs I would eliminate and I bet any of you could come up with more jobs that are not needed too and could save $$$.

  10. Hey, Faye, that was tongue-in-cheek, or sarc, or whatever ya call it. You really should pay closer attention. Here’s a hint: look up ssbn 627. Go ahead. I’ll wait.

First time I’ve been called a troll.

Just familiar enough with the term to believe it’s some sort of insult…

  11. My apologies SSBN627, I still wish there was a font exclusively for sarc.
The James Madison, great job and thanks for serving.
I read all the available biographies of the founding fathers in our little town library and James Madison was the only founder that everyone had a good word to say about. Every other founder always had at least one detractor. Unfortunately this limited supply did not have a biography of Madison, maybe I will just get one from amazon.

  12. See, now yer killing me with nice.

Now I DO feel somewhat troll-ish. Or at least like a giant boor.

The Madison was a fine boat with a tremendous crew – if ya had to spend time underwater you wanted to do it with these people. Alternatively, she was known as the MadDog or the JollyDolly. Our unofficial motto was Wetsu (we eat this crap up) and we lived by it.

Thank you, Faye, for the response. Sorry I got a little prickly there.
