Loudmouth Dem Official Harasses GOP Rep. Barletta at Town Hall

What a shock.
A loudmouth democrat official harassed Republican Rep. Lou Barletta yesterday at a town hall. She was so offensive that people started screaming at her to “Sit down!”
She wants to ‘Tax the Rich’ – the democrat-socialist’s answer to everything.

Reminiscent of the August 2009 town halls when members of Congress faced angry constituents over health care reforms, a public forum in Carbon County with Rep. Lou Barletta Wednesday night provided a glimpse of the strong emotions stirred by a Republican plan to alter Medicare benefits.
At the start of his town hall meeting — in a county that is predominately Republican-leaning and 17 percent over 65 years old — Barletta welcomed people to use the conversation to get things off their chests. While he was going through a slide projector presentation about the Medicare changes proposed by House Republican Paul Ryan, a woman raised her hand. (Updated: Carbon County actually has more Democrats registered, but has leaned Republican in the last few election cycles.)
“Excuse me, I’d like to get something off my chest,” she said, standing. “You seem to think that because I’m not effected I won’t care if my niece, my grandson, my child is affected. I do care. What you’re doing with this Ryan budget is you’re taking Medicare and changing it from a guaranteed health care system to one that is a voucher system where you throw seniors on the mercy of for-profit insurance companies…”
“You said nothing in the campaign about I’m going to change Medicare, now you voted for a plan that will destroy Medicare,” Linda Christman, 64, said. Christman is president of the Carbon County Democrats for Change, according to Barletta’s office.
“I won’t destroy Medicare, Medicare is going to be destroyed by itself,” Barletta said.
Then it got ugly.
Christman talked over Barletta saying, “I have a great way for you…take the tax cuts given to the wealthy two percent…and put it into Medicare”
Two men in the back began yelling at her, “Sit down, let him talk, sit down.” This prompted another man in a blue Hawaiian shirt to bolt to his feet, turn to the men in the back and yell, “Why don’t’ you make me sit down? Maybe you don’t believe in free speech? Why don’t you show some respect?”
“Sit down.”
“Make me, make me.”
This went on intermittently with a lot of angry name calling and yelling until the man in the Hawaiian shirt was escorted out by police.

No one wants to come down on medical costs which is causing the problem. Japan has a price book that doctors and hospitals can’t charge over that price, that is what we need.
I support single payer health care, the most cost effective system in the world. If we had this we would not need medicare. Medicare was created because private insurance didn’t want the old and the sick.

Spy the Web, price controls don’t work well here in the US – they ususally lead to shortages. So, why are medical costs so high? Well, all those fancy MRIs and CAT scans and other cutting edge machines and treatments cost a LOT of money. There there is the mal practice insurance that doctors have to carry to protect themselves against attorneys ‘channeling dead babies’ and other nonsense that sways juries who know nothing about good vs bad medical practices. Or how about all the illegals that present themselves at health care facilities, are treated, and then leave never to provide so much as one red cent toward their care. Salaries for health care workers keeps going up also. Just off the top of my head.

One of the reasons why more and more doctors are refusing to take medicare patients is that what medicare pays them is less than it costs to treat the patient. They have to raise the costs on non-medicare patients.

You must be looking at a pre-Civil War Map. Take a look at the 2010 census. The south and southwest, right to work and red states are where the jobs are and the population is voting with its feet. States like Illinois are losing population, house seats, and racking up debt.

For example, Wall Street rakes in a lot of money, derived from the productivity of others all around the nation, including those red states you are looking down your nose at … and pays a lot of taxes. Those who will control the process of rationing care, if we allow government to take total control of the health-care system, will be a de facto “death panel” … for there will be no recourse from their judgments of who lives and who is left to die. They will not only be the gatekeepers of funding care … they will be the gatekeepers of care itself.
OTOH, in a voucher system, there will be other alternatives … charitable care, and cash payment … available if the voucher does run out … and under such a system (especially if we add tort reform … it is less likely that the funding will run out for anyone.
