UPDATE: Several commenters say the CBS video is real but the protester is carrying an outdated sign.
Tax Day is Monday and that means the state-run media was on the attack this weekend.
CBS posted fake video of tea party counter-protesters yesterday in Wisconsin.

CBS posted video of a crowd shot from an earlier pro-union rally to make it look like the capitol grounds were thick with anti-tea party protesters in Madison yesterday.
Free Republic reported:
I caught the CBS News evening report tonight for the first time in about 2 decades. They led off with a report of Sarah Palin’s speech in Wisconsin, and they of course provided liberal spin.
They claim there were far more liberals (i.e. union thugs) than Tea Partiers (claiming the thugs surrounded the smaller Tea Party crowd).
But something caught my eye during the report, specifically when they did a pan of the “liberal crowd”…but they pulled a Dan Rather by using video footage from some liberal rally prior to the April 5th Wisconsin Supreme Court election.
How do I know this? Well, if you go have a look at the video in the link above, pay close attention at the 18 second mark. There is a campaign sign being held by a liberal saying to “Vote Klappenburg on April 5th”.
And the AFP has a special way of describing fiscal conservatives, via Power Line.

VIDEO: April 15 was tax day in the United States, and Tea Party radicals used it to stage demonstrations across the country, including near the site of the original Boston Tea Party revolt of the colonial era.
With reporting like this you’d almost think the media was biased against the tea party, huh?

hypocrisyhammer commented:
Nope, that sign was actually there. You can see it in the video of Sarah Palin’s speech. In this case it’s not media malpractice, just some idiot who probably forgot to vote.LOL
Mark Adams commented:
Only CBS would do something like this, and ABC, NBC, CNN, MSNBC…
We peaceably assemble to petition our government, and what happens? We get labeled as radicals. Now being a real American is considered being a radical???…
Steph commented:
Nope. That sign was actually there. I saw it on the “ustream” feed. People were even commenting on how stupid the union idiot was for waving it around like in idjit.

The truth practiced as taught by Dan “the fake” Rather. Nice to know they can still crawl in the gutter with Pravda.
hypocrisyhammer commented:
The video that Steph and I are referencing was posted at Hot Air’s quotes of the day last night. It’s real and it’s spectacular. If this doesn’t get corrected it will just be more “hate” or “deranged” fuel for people like those at Loons, Goons, and Fools.
Deanna commented:
Yeah that sign was there. It’s in the video at Big Government. They’ve already corrected this at Free Republic. Jim needs to pull this.
Jim commented:
That video IS from Saturday’s rally with Gov Palin. Union bosses just too cheap to supply new signs I guess.
See minute 13:10 in this full video from the stream yesterday. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mg0Co0pMUnk

Great catch Jim. Any reply from CBS yet?
Freddy commented:
Dan Rather would be PROUD!
But, looking back, WHY did CBS fire Dan Rather? Clearly they have not improved their journalistic integrity since he left.

I don’t think Obama should keep spending trillions of dollars we don’t have. And I don’t think the American people, and future American people, should have to pay for it into the next 4 or 5 generations. Seems alot of other nations feel the same as I do. Call me a radical.
wodun commented:
What kind of journalist would portray unionistas on the verge of a violent meltdown surrounding another group of people and shouting hate as a good thing?
Randy commented:
So what’s the truth? Were there more tea partiers than union goons? Just watched the wack job shout down the 14 year old speaker. Were the goons mixed in with the tea party and if so, could the good guys hear anything?
Now the recall signatures have been stolen. Just wow.
War has been declared here in the United States. The second Civil War is coming – the unions vs. the rest of us. It’s going to get ugly.

Hey Republicans in Washington CAN YOU UNDERSTAND that this is war. There is no “working with these people”, or “compromising with them”
They want to destroy conservatives and the media is fully in on it. Sara Palin had the best line for Washington Republicans, “fight like the girls”.
Just this weekend, I think, Boehner said about Obama, “I can work with him” ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! Was this after he accused Paul Ryan of wanting to kill the elderly and children with disabilities.
Grow a pair for God sake boys.

It’s been three hours since we started pointing out that this video is real and from this weekend. Please don’t let those jackass progressives have this ammo for their narrative.
Molon Lobe commented:
Does anyone believe the lame stream media any more?
Rock commented:
OK great the video is real, better still. Now we have a supposed superior intelligent Liberal carrying around a sign that he did not or could read. Speaks volumes to their own failings. And still did nothing to disprove the distrust and disgust of CBS. They ran a video and failed to fact check its validity thus missing something that could question their professionalism.

I was there…..anti tea-party protesters outnumbered tea-partiers at least 5 to 1. No spin will change the facts. Hey Hey, Ho Ho Scott Walker has got to go.

Outnumbered 5-1? You’re high!! I was there also and you professional protesters may have “slightly” outnumbered us.
Ritchie The Riveter commented:
No spin will change the facts, Truth Hurts.
Union greed, leveraged with Progressive ideology, is parasitically killing off the host that feeds them … American prosperity.
And you will NOT stop Gov. Walker and the people of WI from starving this parasite … even if you COULD HAVE bussed in more of your shallow supporters (like those you Re-, er, Progressives always use to fill anti-war and anti-globalization protests) than the number of Tea Party movement members (who bring themselves there, because they THINK FOR THEMSELVES, unlike you useful idiots).
So tell me, are you like so many of the anti-war protesters I’ve seen with respect to “peace”… and your REAL reason for being in Madison is not “social justice”, but (1) you fear that the government will no longer take from others to give you what you think you “deserve”, and/or (2) fear that conservatives will still be permitted to harsh your mellow with credible criticism of your recreational/lifestyle choices?
We know what you (collectively speaking) are really fighting … you are fighting the requirement to exercise personal responsibility, because you believe responsibility is a function of pocket depth.
Grow up.
We smell your fear.
Truth Hurts commented:
OK….Richie and TC, once again I expose the truth of the matter.
1. I am in law enforcement (public union) for over 20 years. No union boss or thug EVER influenced my vote which has been ALWAYS been conservative. I am not a paid protester or a “useful idiot”. Don’t buy into Walker’s spin on the protest movement. NO proof of outside protesters dominating the scene.
2. “The people of WI” seems to includes me. Somehow me and my side are excluded from this and the fact that we also pay taxes! Not sure how that little fact is always forgotten.
3. Not an anti war protester. LOVED GW and his commitment to our country’s security and respect for the troops.
4. Not sure what “credible criticism of your recreational/lifestyle choices” means?? Is this the “gravy train” I have supposedly been on for years? The truth of the matter is I live a very modest lifestyle because I have chosen to enter a field where I know I will make a modest living. I don’t live on a lake, have a summer home, drive a new car, etc. As I have spent many a Saturday at the Capitol talking with my fellow protesters, most are just like me. I am NOT ashamed of me.
5. What I am afraid of is Walker’s division of this great state. He is a punk with no leadership skills.
6. Where was he and the Fitzgerald’s at this great rally Saturday to celebrate his “great” accomplishments? In hiding I expect. Didn’t want to repeat his miserable showing on Capitol Hill the other day. By the way, why only a small showing (compared to the huge rallys by the anti-tea pay people for months) when the “star” of the movement shows up? I’d say a disappointing “silent majority” decided to show up.
7. The 3rd of 3 repub senators looks to be recalled this week. Great news. How come no dems yet?
8. Lastly, Prosser should have won with 80% of the vote. He will eek out a win. Can’t wait to see what Feingold for gov in 2012 in recall vote will do to Walker (just look at the Milwaukee County Exec race….what a wonderful legacy Walker left for his conservative candidate there!).
DairyQueen commented:
There were about 650 Tea Party members and about 6000 anti-Walker protesters. Andrew Breitbart was there too and concurs with these figures.
BigAlSouth commented:
Question:
How many Anti-Tea Party Protesters are WI citizens?
Alan Clingerman commented:
The sign was real. I was at the Tea Party in Madison Saturaday. I was just off of the screen shot to the left and the guy was behind me. We also saw him at the pick up point for the shuttles afterwards. I guess he has no problem showing what an idiot he is

1A. I spent 14 years in a major metro Sheriff Department (Sheriffs Departments are notoriously political) however our bargaining unit was the Police Benevolent Association. Law enforcement representing law enforcement. Union tactics of questionable conduct where rejected by those who served. No need to buy into the suppose Walker spin, pictures from Madison seem to suggest otherwise, buses with out of state tags, groups with signs from various anarchy organizations, hopefully not representative of law enforcement or teacher.
2. “The people of WI” seems to includes me. Somehow me and my side are excluded from this and the fact that we also pay taxes! Not sure how that little fact is always forgotten.
2A. As law enforcement you represent all the voters of Wisconsin not just those who support the union. The fact many officer where present wearing items of clothing that identified them as members of law enforcement was a breach of ethics. Doing so gave a false impression of much that transpired was condoned by officer there.
3. Not an anti war protester. LOVED GW and his commitment to our country’s security and respect for the troops.
3A. Not sure that even carries water here, I served 20 years in the military, and have voted Republican for most of my life, but GB last 2 years where troubling to me, he seem more concerned with winning the Hispanic vote than protecting America and her borders.
4. Not sure what “credible criticism of your recreational/lifestyle choices” means?? Is this the “gravy train” I have supposedly been on for years? 4A. The gravy train that was in questioned was the one enjoyed by academia, your decisions to back them put you on the wrong side of the equation for many voters in your state. Totally agree, your career is far from the lap of luxury that many enjoy, but I’m sure you understood that and accepted it.
5. What I am afraid of is Walker’s division of this great state. He is a punk with no leadership skills.
5A. Kind of a childish statement, but the same could be said for the Unions wish to keep their life style while many in the state are on the verge of losing their futures.
6A. The Tea Party had many events around the nation on Tax Day, and Wisconsin was but one, of course those upset by the recent turn of events would counter the the Tea Party event there. Yet they showed to show up in an extremely hostile city with law enforcement of divided loyalties provided security, even after the fiasco at the Capitol weeks earlier.
7. The 3rd of 3 repub senators looks to be recalled this week. Great news. How come no dems yet?
7A. Really after the news about recall ballots being stolen for the recall of Senator Dave Hansen.
8A. So you agree the majority felt that Prosser should have won, just not by some predetermined majority you suggest, may I remind you the same could be said for WTF.

This is unreal. No update, no correction? Fake but accurate?

John commented:
I caught the last part of the tea party rally in Boston, indeed, only about a ten minute walk from the Old South Meeting House, where the original Boston Tea Party was planned. I got there late, having to work until after five–the rally was until six. When I got there I was confused–people had a huge signed stretched out in front of the small rotunda where the speaker was–I couldn’t see him. There were a lot of other smaller signs blocking the view too–how dumb, I thought. Then I took a closer look at the signs–all in support of unions. In front of the guys holding up the signs (mostly big guys, over six foot tall) there was a line of Boston cops protecting them. I asked another cop why these folks were allowed to block the view of the speakers–he said, “OK, which signs do you want me to take down.” Just the ones blocking the view, I answered. There were some tea party signs, but they were just trying to block the anti-tea party slogans that the union guys had. Police union helping out their union brothers at the expense of free speech. I wonder what would happen if a tea party group tried the same thing at a union rally. If they weren’t beat to a pulp with the cops looking the other way, the cops would probably hustle them away because they were trying to provoke violence. And WE”RE supposed to be the violent extremists!

Thank you for the update.
Ritchie The Riveter commented:
Truth Hurts, you are blind to the greater threat … the parasitic relationship between union leadership and the elected leaders from the Democrat Party they support. That is far more threatening than any “division” Gov. Walker is generating as a result of taking a stand against the parasitism.
Now let me explain my comments about recreational/lifestyle choices … a major motivation of many who support the anti-war movement is to discredit the conservative worldview by any means necessary … “peace” is secondary to such as these; notice how the anti-war marches have shrunk to almost nothing, even though Mr. Obama is continuing the Bush policies in Iraq and Afghanistan, and expanded upon them re: Libya. What you have left now are the true believers (who still share the disdain for the conservative worldview, but are more straightforward and consistent regarding their support for what they think is peace) because the rest think everything’s all right because “their guys” are in charge.
From what I see, the underlying motivation of the no-shows when Mr. Bush was around was because they wanted to shut conservatives up by discrediting them, so they won’t have to face criticism that “sticks” regarding irresponsible lifestyle choices; recreational drug use, sexual promiscuity, profligate spending for “fun”, Starbucks, and iPhones instead of, say, buying health insurance … and furthermore, they want to shut conservatives up so they will continue to have the wealth of the responsible made available to them from “their guys” to support their irresponsibility, from having “free” health care for their hangovers and STDs to having the government dictate what they will be paid, without regard to the value they add to either commerce or society in general.
Get rid of those motivations, and all you have left at Leftist protests are the few true believers who see the “cause” as something more … something more than a reason to get together and keep the party going by getting in the faces of the Big Red Meanies who are harshing their mellow.
In other words, while their numbers may at times appear a mile wide, the actual, thought-out support for Progressive policies is an inch deep.
