In order to slow soaring gas prices Barack Obama has turned to the Justice Department.
Makes perfect sense, huh?
Barack Obama said the Justice Department will try to “root out” cases of fraud or manipulation in oil markets.
MSNBC reported:
President Barack Obama said Thursday that the Justice Department will try to “root out” cases of fraud or manipulation in oil markets, even as Attorney General Eric Holder suggested a variety of legal reasons may be behind gasoline’s surge to $4 a gallon.
“We are going to make sure that no one is taking advantage of the American people for their own short-term gain,” Obama said at a town-hall style meeting at a renewable energy plant in Reno, Nev.
The town hall was sandwiched in between Obama’s four fundraising events in California on Thursday — one in San Francisco and three in Los Angeles. The president was holding six fundraisers over the course of his three-day West Coast trip, aimed at high-dollar donors and young people, both of whom will be integral to a campaign that could set fundraising records.
And, that is just one more reason why community organizers don’t make good presidents.

IMO, there is not a chance that anyone ” is taking more advantage of the American people for their own short-term gain” than the Obama Administration.

Starting a war with an OPEC nation isn’t a WINNING idea if one is concerned about gasoline prices. I would hope Mr. Holder would pay special attention to the price of North Sea Brent which is consistantly higher than the NYMEX price.

I think he blamed all of us during his campaign when he said, “We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK.”
I guess we’re being punished for not seeking “other countries’ approval regarding our energy usage or something. Sure it’s incoherent, but is that really any surprise where zero is concerned?

I guess zero doesn’t want anyones short term gain to compete with his long term goal. Prices are high because the fed is inflating the dollar. Prices of everything but wages are effected.
Remember; “prices will necessarily skyrocket”. zero wasn’t just talking about energy.

The chart is oil, the white line the dollar.
The dollar has collapsed as Bernanke and Obama have together conspired to demand QE2 to support Obama’s insane borrowing and spending in the economy.
There is a near-perfect inverse correlation between these two charts.

Kind of like the fox saying he will look into who has been disturbing the hen house. It is his party’s policies that are to blame for the lack of domestic production creating an artificial, politically contrived shortage that puts us at the mercy of energy supplies from unstable regions that allow the speculator’s games to exist in the first place and inflates prices.
Years ago, during the Bush administration, Democrats parroted the narrative that we can’t drill our way out of the situation. Had we eased regulatory hindrance on drilling and refinery construction back then we would not find ourselves in this mess. Instead, had they made realistic choices, we’d be on our way from dependence on foreign oil and wealth transfer that finances our opposition to energy independence and lower prices.
Instead the Democrats pursue policies so that unicorns can graze freely in tomorrow’s Utopian green pastures while kicking the can of real-world contemporary solutions down the road of electoral advantage. Hopefully their miserable failures in this aspect will do exactly the opposite and create an electoral liability that gets them out of the way before they can do further damage.

No justice, just piece, a piece of the pie. In searching for criminals among players in the oil markets, Holder may want to consider that there are some laws discovered in the field of Economics that come close to the certainties in the laws of physics. The influence on prices of currency inflation and Supply and Demand are such laws and Holder/Obama might just interest themselves in them before they go off half-cocked…………………………nah.

Barry’s team does not understand that Oil is priced in dollars world wide. The dollar is in the toilet ergo oil prices are high. Contributing to that is our own lack of drilling. I think BHO is on to something. Gas prices are being manipulated, and we know by whom. They call themselves OPEC, and they manipulate our gas prices by controlling our supply of oil. Nothing our legal system can do to stop them now. There is a co-conspirator who is subject to our legal system; his name is Barrack Hussein Obama.
I wonder if the DOJ will figure that out?

Please even if this wasn’t a distraction event, Holder probably the most incompetent man in the administration? The most bias political hack to sit in the attorney generals seat, youreally think that he has the capability to see the corruption (without taking his cut) and doing anything? The minute he find out the corrupt are from the DNC or “his people” the investigation get lost for (of course) lack of evidence.

I used to work for Chevron. Anytime gas prices spiked, the Attorney Generals would spring into action and launch investigations looking for violations of the law. EACH AND EVERY TIME, they’d find nothing. Nada. No collusion. No gouging. Nothing.

We all know it is a feint, but it is a feint based in some truth. WSJ did a great article a couple of days ago about how major investment banks, computers AND amateur investors are driving the speculation out of sight. Millions of futures transactions a day instead of a thousand. It is out of control.
According to the WSJ- which is very accurate overall- the problem isn’t supply or demand it is the speculation that our inability to handle crisis, say like the firestorm in the Middle East, will dry up supply…in the future.
Add that to the HUGE impact EPA regulations cause, there is a case made that if the EPA quite demanding blended fuels (a fruitless endeavor) from refineries the cost would go down as much as a dollar. Then there is the “futures” argument about should we control more of our supply and would that affect the futures speculation. My MENSA bright buddy who gets all of this more scoffs at the idea simply because oil and its use is worldwide. We might have plenty but if a shortage occurred for China, the price would go up regardless.
However, I disagree. As we know Obama is doing the Brazil thing to make Soros richer, the idea in of itself is not a bad one. Imagine if we could secure safe and war threat free oil from places closer to our own borders- Mexico, Canada, South America- that are in our sector of the globe would it serve to bring prices down for long term?
The Chinese are looking for secure and stable sources too, that is why they are in our backyard, not to mention the perverse pleasure they get from sticking it to us on occasion.
Just my thoughts.

RIGHTY-O MC.
Obama has already promised Brazil/Soros to be the supplier of oil to the US. His aim, like all dictators is to control means of production. People have GOT to get educated on the communist world view/socialist world view/one world world view before it’s too late. Sadly, and naturally, it’s not something normal people are conversant in.
Here’s a short version:
Control flow of information (media)
Vilify and take over business (CEOs/companies)
Tax the middle class into the the lower tax brackets
Make a majority of citizens dependent on government for sustenance
Take over banks and financial institutions
Reward those who cooperate and co-opt them
Control energy (oil and gas)
Control agriculture (food)
Control civil defense (guns) by developing civil army (TSA for starters) and use existing force such as police, coast guard, FBI, CIA, etc.
Control travel (TSA)
Identify citizens in central database (TSA scanners)
This is for real.

Are you as tired of gas prices rising like I am? There are things this administration could do to lower the price of oil. He could START DRILLING IN THE GULF, ALASKA AND ON THE COASTS, DRILL FOR SHALE, MAKE THE COMMODITIES TRADERS ACTUALLY PUT UP THE MONEY TO SPECULATE, and STOP SUBSIDIZING ETHANOL WHICH IS RAISING FOOD PRICES. When President Bush said we were going to drill for more oil in the US gas prices dropped dramatically. The PLUNGING OF THE DOLLAR is the main reason for the price of oil rising. But he won’t want to do any of these things or help fix our economy when he can redistribute our money to foreign countries for their oil instead.
