This is as telling as obama on stage with the other democratic presidential candidates where he refused to place his hand over his heart in some sort of anti-American defiance. We know where you stand Harry and it is not with Americans.
TonyG commented:
As much as it pains me to say this, these guys aren’t completely stupid. They know that if the 2012 election is fought on the economy they’re toast so we should fully expect a bunch of these types of jabs in their hope to get the discussion onto social and religious issues which they can drive base turnout and try to marginalize the right in the minds of independents.
So to you Harry I say “If you can forget something as easy as that it’s no wonder you managed to drive unemployment up to near 10% and the debt to $14 trillion. When the adults are in charge of the economy I’m sure they wont forget things like you do, such as repealing the widely hated unconstitutional ObamaCare.”

Kinda like Obama refusing to speak at Notre Dame unless they covered up all the religious stuff.

The way Obama and the Democrats are governing this country, it is best they omit the “under God” portion of the pledge. Their allegiance is under Lucifer.

The words “under God” were indeed added in the1950s, but that is hardly the point at all. As someone who is basically a heathen, I wouldn’t have minded if the words had not been added, but I also have absolutely no objection to the words being there.
The real focus should be on the deliberate leftist agenda of leaving those words out when reciting the pledge. We need to ask them why they want to recite the pledge incorrectly. Ask them why the concept of God frightens them so greatly. Make them answer the question. Leftists are dishonest people, so if the answer is a dodge, ask it again.

“Ask them why the concept of God frightens them so greatly.” the concept of God runs opposite to how they want to live their life. the concept of God holds them accountable for their actions. they’re on the fast track of fundamentally changing this country to the exact opposite of what it was founded on. heathan – hee-thuhn] –noun

If Hairy Reed omits “under God” often then I would think it deliberate, but if just this time – well, then he well might be reverting to childhood. With senility one recalls long ago things and forgets the more recent – or so I am told.

Just shows that besides hating the military, Democrats hate God. And this country.
Gary commented:
We can’t be like the Dems, lifting things out like this.
I think he was talking about the Civil War at the time, and as far as I know
“under God” was added sometime in the 1940s or 1950s (i’d look it up but I’m too lazy)
so he has the cover to do it that way.
That said, I have no doubt he crafted that carefully and took great pleasure in it.
Anyway, I’ve never seen anybody more deserving of a punch in the nose on a daily basis than Reid.
Gary commented:
and I can’t leave it at that.
I am convinced that he stole the election last time around, and claimed it was the last minute latino vote.
He acts so mousy while he turning the knife all the while. If not a senator, he’d have made a great serial killer.
Scott commented:
Communists remove god from the lives of the people. God is replaced by the state…Marx/Lenin 101 people.
theBuckWheat commented:
Socialism is the fraudulent bargain that we each can (and must) live at the expense of others. People who are familiar with God’s Law as summarized in the Ten Commandments, can easily see that socialism is built on a foundation of violating the Commandments that forbid telling lies, coveting and theft.
But in Harry Reid’s America, socialism runs contrary to liberty and therefore must be imposed by coercion and armed federal agents. Lots of agents. Some wearing tactical uniforms, but most wearing suits.
God is not mocked by sanctimonious pretensions about caring for the sick and poor. Just like Judas, Reid wants our money not so he can really help the poor, but so he can accrue power to himself and his cronies. God is not mocked. He calls on all to repent, yet there comes a time when these evil people will be judged and thrown down. They will be clueless when it happens to them. Maybe they just didn’t explain their position well enough.
Sasja commented:
bg, actually, the phrase, I believe, is…the love of money is the root of all evil.

I was told by someone who works for Pepsi Cola that this summer they are coming out with cans that depict scenes of America. On one of the cans, the Pledge Of Allegiance is going to be printed. Yup, you guessed it. The phrase “Under God” as I was told will be omitted. This hasn’t been verified but if it’s true, my days of drinking Diet Pepsi are over. If anyone else has heard the same story please help to explain the reasoning behind this action if true.
Andreas K. commented:
I wouldn’t say it either. Because, you know, I’d rather be a heathen than of those self-righteous church goes I’ve seen far too often in my life.
Also my very first question would, of course, be: under which god? There are a few millions active right now. The “one true god”? Which one is that? The one your “holy books” call the one, right? Holy books written by humans. The logical fallacy that is religion is an amazing thing. Especially in the 21st century. For all we know, the one true god could be Thor.
This is essentially a non-issue.
Anyway.
What many people seem to completely ignore is that Reid or Obama are not the problem.
They’re the symptom.
You can’t cure a disease by going after the symptoms. You need to tackle it at its roots.
Let’s say you have a tumor in your brain. That tumor causes headaches. What will you do. Will you go after the headaches or the tumor? Obama and Reid are the headaches. You have to go after the tumor instead.
As for Pepsi… Pepsi is a company, they do marketing, they make money with their products (unlike a government.) “Under god” on their products could offend someone (militant atheists have sued over such things in the past) and they want to maximize their profits. Oh I know, how dare they. Bad capitalists. So they drive on the save lane. Can’t blame them for not wanting a few million dollar lawsuits.
I don’t drink Pepsi simply because I prefer Coke. Though both suck compared to Almdudler.
Andreas K. commented:
Because, you know, I’d rather be a heathen than one of those self-righteous church goers I’ve seen far too often in my life.

Granny, I’m looking right at one of the coins, the one with George Washington on it, and it does not have “In God We Trust” anywhere on it. On the space below Washington’s picture, in very very small print, there is just written: President- and the dates that he was President. That’s it.
On another coin, with John Tyler on it, they do have “In God We Trust” written underneath, but again, the print is so small that you almost need a magnifying glass to read it.

No Gus I don’t think he “forgot”, I think he is a cynical little gnome who is an example of someone who cares nothing for his country except for how it can give him his status in life. Calling him an unethical little sh*t would be unkind to unethical little sh*ts everywhere.
My point was, as this thread has aptly shown, that by doing this type of stuff he gets you all to stop commenting on the core issues that affect the “independent” voter – You know the one that doesn’t like to make hard decisions, wants to hear that everything is fine, etc
Don’t let this tard move the argument from the economy to social and religious issues – Keep it focused on what will generate the win with largest amount of votoers – The economy.
In the great scheme of things he didn’t say this just because he has an aversion to religion, he said this because he has a much larger aversion to be out of power…
TonyG commented:
[Hmm comment submission problem - here is a shorter version]
Gus, of course he didn’t forget, he’s trying to move the argument from the economy to social and religious issues. If it stays on the economy in 2012 they lose.
You have to remember that while he has an aversion to religion he has a much greater aversion to be out of power….

The words Under God were added to the flag salute in 1953 shortly after Sisenhower, a Republican became President & the Republicans still had a majority in Congress until the 1954 mid-term elections. I recall clearly the schpiel we all got at school in “The Weekly Reader”, a school kids’ newspaper in primary school. I clearly remember my very politically very aware conservative parents & much older siblings chortling at the dinner table one evening that the commies had gotten a good kicking when the Under God was added to the Pledge of Allegiance.
The democrats have been the party of treason, godlessness, the servants of the most vile special interests, & fiscal recklessness for nearly 2 centuries but were never exposed as being so because then as now they had a leftist dominated marxist leaning subservient media owned by crony capitalists such as Hearst slavishly carrying their statist water serving up unchallenged except by a few editors of local weekly newspaers a relentless stream of propaganda to the public.
The democrats are slowly being exposed to the public as enemies of the Constitution, slaves of non-American ideologies, tools of avaricious cynical special interests, & enemies of the American nation by the new media and are they are PO that they are getting unmasked by it.
Joanne commented:
They should have booed him. The lot of them are evil, and they know it.
Peter Warner commented:
Mr. Reid concluded in that sound clip:
‘They [the words of the Pledge] remind us of our responsibility to our country, our countrymen, and our conscience.’
Which might be a clue why he omitted ‘under God’: those two words remind us of a righteous and loving Creator, and also therefore of His commandments to us:
Oh man, God has told you what is good
and what God demands of you-
only that you act justly, love goodness,
and walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6:8
Obviously there has to be some beginning point. For my fellow posters who resist the mere thought of an ultimate source of truth, please consider that although that suggestion may be confronting, it is not offered to condemn, but to help.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
John 3:17
Facing Goodness is painful: our shortcomings are exposed. This is inherently confronting, but the purpose is not to condemn: it is to reveal the opportunity of another path.
Every man is fallen, and for every man, the darkness is more comfortable. Having our sinful nature revealed by the light of truth is extremely unpleasant, that is until we are willing to accept Christ’s forgiveness. Even then, being exposed is unpleasant, but we admit that remaining in darkness is worse.
A decent man can find strength and hope in God, but forgiveness for sins only comes from Christ Jesus. I tell you the truth in love, if I told you anything else it wouldn’t be love.
Best regards, Peter Warner.
