The UN Security Council just voted 10-0 to authorize a no-fly zone over Libya.
The Financial Times reported:
he UN Security Council has voted in favour of a no-fly zone over Libya.

Before diplomats voted 10-0 for some kind of military action, with five nations, including Russia, China and Germany, abstaining, Libyan leader Muammer Gadaffi told rebels: “We are coming tonight . . . there won’t be any mercy.”

Col Gaddafi’s forces bombed the outskirts of Benghazi, a rebel stronghold in the east of Libya, Reuters reported. In a radio address.

they either have to kill him, or he’ll be joining the Ayers guilty as sin & free as a bird ranks (not that he hasn’t escaped his fate many times over as it is)..

now they’ll do lunch for a few weeks.. :-(

  3. Way to be a world leader Bamster!

  4. Just because the UN authorized it doesn’t mean it’s going to happen. Who’s going to enforce it, for example? (The UN Air Force?? uh . . . I don’ think so) By the time they get around to figuring all this out – it will be over. The blood will run in the streets of Benghazi tonite. Prez Zippy took 8 months to figure out whether to go forward with the surge in Afghanistan. And doesn’t he leave on Spring Break tomorrow?

  5. I’m really surprised that Russia voted in favor of this.

  6. russia along with brazil and india abstained

  7. Senegal is volunteering to enforce the no-fly zone. They are dispatching their Piper Cub and some guy with a walkie-talkie . . .

  8. Maybe we can give Pelosi back the use of her taxpayer paid military jet she was using one last time….
Her and her family can do a Libya fly-over with a fully stocked bar ,they can open their windows and throw out the used up little bottles of liquor ,you never know they might actually get lucky and hit one of QuaDaffys soldiers.

  9. While they at it go ahead and get Iran, they and the MB is behind lot of this.

  10. Title of movie……UN authorizes no fly zone, UAE and France to bomb Libya…..obama does Rio! I know it is long, but isn’t it tantalizing?

  11. The UN authorized only a no-fly zone plus “whatever means necessary to achieve that objective” – but I’m not sure that Quadaffy Duck needs air support at this juncture – he’s got the troops, he’s got the tanks, he’s got the momentum, and he seems poised to roll over Benghazi starting tonite – with or without air support, promising no mercy for those he encounters. It means that things will get real ugly, real fast. Time for the no-fly zone was last week, before Quadaffy regained the Big Mo. Too little, too late this time. Obammy will get no love from his mooselimb brothers over this one – no matter which side eventually wins. He voted “present” once again.

perhaps he’ll be “conveniently killed” and live
happily ever after somewhere in say, Hawaii..

sounds like good ideal to me

  14. Wasn’t Sarah Palin MOCKED for calling for a No-Fly Zone 2-3 weeks ago? When it would have been timely?

  15. The no-fly zone is too little, too late. This determination coming not from me, but from the Libyan rebel leaders themselves. Rebel spokesman Essam Gheriani is reported to have commented that it is now well past the time when a no-fly zone would be effective and that a no-fly zone imposed now will “no longer stop the march of Gaddafi’s military, and that targeted air strikes would be most effective at this stage of the rebellion.”

“Our demand for a no-fly zone would have been sufficient two weeks ago,” Gheriani said. “Now the need is to hit Gaddafi’s land troops and tanks that are laying siege to Libyan cities and stop their advance toward Benghazi. Time is in his favor, not ours.”

Unfortunately, the UN resolution does not allow for targeted air strikes. Moreover, NATO has apparently asserted jurisdiction over the coordination of member nation airstrikes – mandating that a ready-to-go French airforce remain parked on the runway until the NATO bureaucracy in Brussels be permitted to bluff and bluster about this issue for another several days (weeks?) until action is finally permitted. As Libyan rebels have already said, “too little, too late”

  16. If tonight goes like Qadaffi says, he won’t need to fly tomorrow. While Rome burned Obama waited for the international community to send fire trucks. The day after the city was burned to the ground, the trucks arrived and Obama declared victory.

  17. What we need in the U.S. is a “Not Voting Present” Zone at 1600 Pa. Ave.

  18. Oh!Bahma is a world class proof of the Peters Principle. All his decisions are above his pay grade.

  19. Qadaffi just said

its not worth the paper its printed on he knows his pal Obama not going to take the lead
    on this thing.
