Maybe it’s the record unemployment rate?… Maybe it’s the record deficit?… Maybe it’s his outrageous attempt to embellish his record on offshore oil drilling and development?… Or maybe it’s his pathetic response to the crisis in the Middle East?
Whatever the reason, Obama is tanking in the polls again.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 23% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-three percent (43%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -20. That matches the president’s lowest ratings of 2011 (see trends).

It’s a good thing the state-run media carries his water for him or it would be a lot worse than -20.

    The gap will keep growing as long as gas prices keep rising, which is a major problem for Obama. His Labor Department can play with the unemployment numbers a little to make sure they don’t go back up (by just making some of the long-term jobless disappear from the workforce), but as long as there’s conflict in the Middle East where Obama’s seen as doing little to nothing, and fuel prices stay high, the swing voters are going to move away from the president.

    No amount of demonizing “big oil” is going to change that perception, just as it didn’t help Carter in 1979-80, and the fact that much of Obama’s coalition is both against domestic drilling and thinks higher gas prices are a great way to sell high-speed rail, he can’t even do the things available to him that would help bring gas prices down.

    The worst part is that Obama could send his ratings soaring if he just did something instead of party, golf, and fight the taxpayers all the time. You wonder if it’s incompetence or if he hates us all. So far, I’m leaning toward a combination of incompetence on the foreign policy and hatred of America on the domestic policy.

    I find it inconceivable and profoundly depressing that 45% of the population approves of the job that Obama has been doing. Worse, some percentage of those who DISapprove do so because he hasn’t been radical enough for them, i.e. because they were hoping for an even more radical and destructive agenda.

    It’s just that people don’t understand that when a Dem is in office 11% unemployment is a sign of real progress, while for a Republican in office, 4.7% is basically circling the drain.
