13 Illegal Aliens in US Marine Uniforms Captured in California

13 illegal aliens were captured recently in California. They were riding in a fake military van with stolen plates.
They all had Perez written on their uniform.

FOX News reported:
Border Patrol agents recently arrested 13 illegal immigrants disguised as U.S. Marines and riding in a fake military van, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said Tuesday.
The illegal immigrants were clad in Marine uniforms when they were apprehended at the Campo Border Patrol Westbound I-8 checkpoint at 11 p.m. on March 14 near Pine Valley, Calif., border officials said. Two U.S. citizens in the van also were arrested.
After the suspicious white van was subjected to secondary inspection, it was determined that the driver of the vehicle and its front seat passenger were U.S. citizens who were attempting to smuggle 13 illegal immigrants into the United States. All of the vehicle’s occupants wore U.S. Marine uniforms, reportedly emblazoned with the name “Perez.”
“This effort is an example of the lengths smugglers will go to avoid detection, and the skilled and effective police work and vigilance displayed everyday by Customs and Border Protection personnel,” the agency said in a written statement.

I heard of a guy years ago who got into CA illegally by putting on a really nice suit and shoes, buying a copy of the Wall Street journal, and then sitting on the bus like a businessman heading off to a meeting.

Wow. This is scary on many different levels! How in the world did they acquire the van (registered to the US Marine Corps) ?? and the stolen license plate, along with the uniforms?
A very bad scenario: Let’s say martial law were implemented in the state of California, how in the heck would the average citizen know who they were dealing with?

In the above “written statement” – seems like a whole lotta patting one’s self on the back! I’d really like to know how the illegal immigrants were able to get that far in their smuggling operation – in the first place?
No, I would say the “effective police work and vigilance” was more accurately a fumbling of the ball.

It might of worked if the whole group was not all Hispanic and/or they all spoke fluent English. But my bet is only one spoke English and that was the coyote.
If they where not caught they would be held for ransom and tortured by the coyotes once they got the the safe house.
