Wisconsin State Troopers Sent Out to Retrieve AWOL Dems …Update: Flee-Baggers Are Hiding In Chicago

State troopers were sent out this morning to retrieve the AWOL state democratic senators.
TMJ4 reported:

According to the Wisconsin senate majority leader, the Governor’s office is sending out state troopers to go after Wisconsin’s Democratic Senate members to bring in a vote on Governor Walker’s budget bill which would dramatically limit government workers union’s ability to negotiate many of their benefits.

“They are prepared to dispatch state troopers to go out to some of the residences of some of the senators,” said Republican State Senator Scott Fitzgerald on Newsradio 620 WTMJ’s “Midday with Charlie Sykes.”

“We don’t know that everybody is out of state. These troopers are going to go and try to escort these senators back to the chamber.”

The State Patrol cannot go after the Democratic senators who have left the state, and Democratic State Senator Jon Erpenbach told “Wisconsin’s Morning News” that all 14 Democratic Senate members have fled Wisconsin and have not announced a timetable for their return.

IF I lived in WI, I would be furious that my tax dollars were going to pay for these so-called legislators failing to show up to do they’re jobs OR to the teachers who decided to skip school (and in some cases bring students along for the experience of participating in anarchy at the StateHouse).

What is really infuriating to me is that BHO and the DNC are busing in all these SEIU and ACORN and OFA goons ……….. and the media is silent. Not surprising, just infuriating.

The only way Gov. Walker can send the State Police after those Dem legislators is if a court has issued a Writ of Mandamus. See Section 3455 of the Wisconsin State Law. Once a Writ of Mandamus has been issued fleeing the State to avoid being compelled to appear in the State Assembly becomes felony Interstate Flight to Avoid a Court Order.

While the Wisconsin State Police do not have the Jurisdiction to arrest those Dem Legislators in Illinois, the Wisconsin State Attorney General can then issue a Felony Interstate Flight arrest Warrant and send it to the Illinois State Attorney General and request that the Illinois State Police execute it and extradite those Dem Legislators back to Wisconsin.

If that happens and those Dem Legislators are arrested they face a near certain Felony Conviction and removal from office according to Wisconsin State Law.

Gov. Walker isnt screwing around with these guys…

1. Should public employees not involved in public safety or emergency response enjoy the right of collective bargaining within this state?

There needs to be an executive order immediately suspending any issuance of payments for payroll and/or expenses to these AWOL state employees (legislators and teachers). All payment should be held until full evidence is provided that their absence was authorized (e.g. doctors notes). In cases where there is evidence that employees were not ill, any doctor issuing a note should also be on notice that they may be investigated for criminal acts should they provide fictional representations.

My family and I are extremely incensed: hard working, tax paying, government union subsidizing private sector employees are FIRED for skipping out on work without an authorized excuse. We also don’t have FREE health insurance and FREE pensions. In fact, we pay the overwhelming majority for ours.

It’d be one thing if they did it with their money, but it’s ours, and we don’t have any more we can give.

I’d think it would have to be a member of the WI senate who petitioned a WI court for a Writ of Mandamus, haven’t heard anything about that. But the WI constitution provides (Art. IV &sect: 7) each house “may compel the attendance of absent members in such manner and under such penalties as each house may provide.” Anyone know what the senate’s current rules on this are?

Recall and Impeachment are other possible avenues.

Attending the senate in response to a Call of the House would certainly seem to fit the definition of ministerial act.

Similarly, who is paying for the teacher’s buses, the buses that took kids to the capitol and who told the kids to go, did they have their parents permission, who paid for the meals etc?

So did any of these slim balls take any government owned property with them, IE lap tops, cell or satellite phones (all GPS traceable). If they have crossed state lines with state property, is there not some local law violated.

I totally agree with decentAmerican commentary. Fire these teachers that do not care about their students and only their pockets. Their are plenty of recently college graduated trained teachers looking for work and more will be graduating. They cannot find jobs that are being held by teachers who are not teaching yet have ten year. Wisconsin’s education system needs new blood, teachers who are willing to work and not this crap about being paid for every extra thing they do.

2. If they don’t show up, issue writs of election for their vacant seats.

4. Pull his proposed legislation and replace it with a bill that bans unionization for public employees, voids any collective bargaining agreements with public employee unions, and terminates the employment of any public employee who goes on strike, for cause and with a loss of benefits and seniority.

They fled their elected positions to avoid casting a vote. Sort of like Obama voting “present” well over a hundred times, rather than actually taking a stand.

Clearly mathematics was not your best subject.

The population of the United States is currently on the order of 310 million. 64% of that number would be about 198 million.

Th mathematical theory behind sampling and poling is beyond the grasp of people who cannot do simple arithmetic. But, its is well known that the counting of a sample of a population produces a distribution of population characteristics with an error bar that is roughly equal to the inverse of the square root of the sample size. A sample of 1000, should produce a distribution with an error of +/- 3.2%.

It works tolerably well.

i obviously don’t have the popular opinion on this one, but as a wisconsin resident i’m proud of what these people are doing. they’re proving that the tens of thousands of protesters are having an impact and they’re listening.

also, please don’t be ignorant. for those of you saying that the workers should have to be back monday? that’s presidents day. before you get upset you should probably get your facts straight.

Katie – Since you assume no one has to work Monday I take it you are a government employee of some kind also? Those of us in the private sector don’t automatically get the day off. I would suggest the “tens of thousands” of protesters shouldn’t outweigh the hundreds of thousands or more voters. As Obama said, Elections matter.

Media reports fail to show how mild the proposed restrictions on collective bargaining really are. It is my understanding that Wisconsin public sector unions can still bargain for higher salary. They just can’t bargain for higher benefits on top of salary and the worker out of paycheck contribution for medical insurance and retirement would be about average for government workers and low relative to the private sector. The reform also requires unions to be re-certified by the majority of workers every year and eliminates the automatic deduction of union dues from paychecks. This bill would weaken public sector unions, but it wouldn’t outlaw them.
