Time’s Up, Fleebaggers–

Recall efforts were initiated against 7 of the 14 AWOL democrats hiding out in Illinois this past week.

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker gave the unpopular AWOL Senate Democrats 24 hours to return and vote on a measure to reduce the power of public sector unions.
Reuters reported, via Free Republic:

Wisconsin’s Republican Gov. Scott Walker said on Monday that absent senate Democrats have 24 hours to return and vote on a measure to reduce the power of public sector unions or the state will miss out on opportunity to refinance its debt.

“Now they have one day to return to work before the state loses out on the chance to refinance debt, saving taxpayers $165 million this fiscal year,” Walker’s spokesman Cullen Werwie said in a statement.

“Failure to return to work and cast their votes will lead to more painful and aggressive spending cuts in the very near future,” the statement said.

Walker’s budget proposal has sparked nationwide protests from labor unions who fear it could be a harbinger of things to come in other states. To balance the state’s budget, Walker wants to require public sector employees to pay more for pensions and health care, and to strip their unions of bargaining rights except for wages up to the rate of inflation.

  1. Return or what? Sounds like he’s caving.

    *sigh*

  2. Mike, you do not tell what your plan is you implement it.

thus the opposition has little to no time to react.

    powder is dry

  3. Stand strong Governor Scott Walker. Stand Strong.

  4. Walker,

Enough with the talking. Start doing something. Start the layoffs.

Obviously the Senate Dems are NOT listening to you; they do not respect nor fear you.

This advice applies equally to the WI Assembly & Senate Republicans, esp. the Speaker and Senate President. To them I make this urgent suggestion: Start setting the agenda. You do not need a 60% quorum to start taking on other legislative matters.

  5. For the life of me, I cannot understand why the legislature has not yet passed a Right-To-Work law and a voter ID law as well. Right to carry legislation would also be a home-run and cause liberal heads to explode. what is he waiting for??

  6. The showdown yesterday shows Walker has an extremely weak hand to play. If the law enforcement in the state will not enforce the laws, the lawmakers will not abide by the laws they passed, you have a lawless, powerless situation. Exactly what can he do? If he tries the Guard, what happens when they refuse?

  7. Get the squatters out, too!

I get the impression that Walker does not want to play hardball with the “little guys” since he’s gotten the teachers back in classrooms. The guard is another matter; they are under oath and not in a union. Walker is commander of his state guard.

If I were Walker, I’d have the guard clear out the square pronto. Like most Republicans, he no doubt fears the media’s constant spin. These protesters have cost WI MILLION$ and the average citizen is on his side.

Anyone here from WI? What can the governor do about the absentee Dems?

  9. Mighty is the Lord who has sent us Sir Scott.Unsheath your Excalibur and watch those cockroaches run.
    GOD BLESS AMERICA!

  10. THANK YOU FOR STANDING FOR AMERICA, FOR OUR CONSTITUTIONS, FOR THIS NATION and FOR RIGHT!

Thank you Scott Walker and the Conservatives in the State Government who are all helping to back WALKER and Constitutional Rule of Law against Union Racketeering!

And great thanks to the Tea Party and the callers and supporters who checked in to register their support for the Conservative Public Servants.

Thank you to you all and God Bless and Keep you all – Psalm 91
With all my whole heart, and in the Name of Jesus, Bless you all!
    Thank you – Rose

  11. Good job Gov. Walker

The dems and the unions and the rent-a-mobs thought they were going to intimidate somebody…guess again…hahahaha

Too bad,so sad…now crawl back to your caves

  12. Start voting on voter ID cards, and the carry conceal, just like the dumbocrats would do if the Repub’s were not there.

  13. J @ #6:

While the police refusing to clear out the state house is a setback of sorts, I don’t think he has a weak hand at all. To whit: Polls show WI citizens split on his proposals, but a good majority think the Dems should return to work (which would see his proposals passed); If this drags out I suspect Walker’s poll numbers will improve. 7 of 14 Dems are facing recall efforts. If the Dems stay out tomorrow they jack up WI’s debt 165 million – a sure political loser for them. There are other agenda items opposed by the Dems which the Rs can pass in their absence, like Voter ID. All in all, Walker has, IMHO, the better hand to play.

  14. Mike W,

That guy looks like he’s in a Twinkies coma.

  15. Maybe the squatters who will not leave the State Capital should be the first to be laid off followed by the police who will not enforce the law followed by the support staff of the Dumbocrats who went AWOL?

  16. The Dems have one day to return and vote on measures to refinance current debt that will save WI $165 million.

I hope they return for the sake of WI but they haven’t exhibited any responsibility so far. Their position is “raise taxes” on the rich (of course) and allow the current course. Not gonna happen.

This scenario is unfolding all over our nation. It will be nice when Dems meet brick wall.

  17. EWWWWW, now that is one fat disgusting tub o lard.

  18. NBC newsreporter Chuck Todd believes Walker’s supporters are white, uneducated and unemployed.`

  19. G-D Bless those who stand up against the leftist goons.

    OT
but it does matter what the leftist have done?
Making you and other drink sour water?
    then give themselves a raise.

Low-flow toilets cause a stink in SF

Skimping on toilet water has resulted in more sludge backing up inside the sewer pipes, said Tyrone Jue

The city has already spent $100 million over the past five years to upgrade its sewer system and sewage plants, in part to combat the odor problem

OH My and it gets worse

Now officials are stocking up on a $14 million, three-year supply of highly concentrated sodium hypochlorite – better known as bleach – to act as an odor eater and to disinfect the city’s treated water before it’s dumped into the bay. It will also be used to sanitize drinking water

  20. Question: What autority is needed for layoffs? Can the governor do it on his own?

  21. I wonder if there is any option for firing them for dereliction of duty, or declaring their seats vacant due to abandonment?

  22. Walker’s caving in. Idiot. Unions will be worse than before.

  23. Walker should use his executive powers to implement the bill. Instead, he has allowed Wisconsin to be held hostage by a bunch of Left-wing hippie goons.

A firm parent would have handed out the punishment and had future ground rules in place in a matter of minutes.

There is no need for all these theatrics! Lay down the law and stand by it.

I’m sure Palin would not have allowed this crap to go for this long!

  24. He is not caving. Tomorrow is about the last day we can start re-negotiating loans. This process takes about 2 months and has to be done by May 1. If they don’t come back and vote, Walker starts sending out pink slips to state employees. He cannot layoff teachers because their contracts are with local school boards and are not up. The real irony is the protestors are teachers and their union, but the ones who will get fired are state employees who have been showing up for work. Lose your job? Blame a teacher.

  25. Read the article on American Thinker posted today. The author makes the case that a vote can indeed by taken WITHOUT Democrats present at the Capital!! And no violation of constitutional rules for quorum!!

    http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/02/two_solutions_to_the_wisconsin.html

It will be worth your time

  26. The Wisconsin Senate should change its quorum rule. When a candidate runs for office, he should actually agree to do the job. If my company hired a program manager and he decided he didn’t want to lay off an employee, I’d fire his a$$. If we hired a cop and he decided to stay home because he didn’t want to arrest anyone what would we do? If a politician is elected, he should show up and do his job, win, lose, or draw. Recall is the appropriate solution. These are public servants, yet they are defying the will of the people as expressed in the midterm.

  27. If we can recall Dave Hansen, which seems very likely – need 13,560 votes (got more than 1,000 the first day) and then elect a Rep. Senator that will make 20 Rep. Senators. Quorom met.
