The Hollywood elites voiced their far left views at the Academy Awards last night.
They can’t help it.
The Note reported:
At the Academy Awards tonight, best cinematography winner Wally Pfister made a point during his acceptance speech of thanking his union crew on “Inception.”
Backstage he went further, expressing shock at Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s budget proposal, which would limit union’s collective bargaining powers. Opponents of the plan have been protesting at the state capitol for 21 days.
“I think that what is going on in Wisconsin is kind of madness right now,” Pfister says. “I have been a union member for 30 years and what the union has given to me is security for my family. They have given me health care in a country that doesn’t provide health care and I think unions are a very important part of the middle class in America all we are trying to do is get a decent wage and have medical care.”
Of course, this surprises no one.

I was unaware that public sector employees in WI were being denied health care. They have agreed to pay a bit more of their way. Also there is no problem finding healthcare in this country, just healthcare someone else pays for. Additionally, unionized labor is a small minority of the middle class. They do not represent the whole group of which public sector employees play the part of parasites sucking resources from the middle class private sector. They are not friends to the middle class.

That why I don’t watch the Oscar Awards anymore. Glad that the British movie, ‘The King’s Speech’ won for Best Picture. Hollywood haven’t made any good movies in 2010. It has been a worse movies in this history. Their directors, producers, writers, actors are the worse. Hollywood are the loser. The movies I like so far from 2010, ‘True Grit’, ‘You Again’, and Toy Story 3.

I think Hollywood’s support of the unions is great. If they truly want to help solve this problem, the actors, producers and directors should contribute 90% of their earnings to a Wisconsin Union Health Care Benefit Fund which I will, for a 1% share of the revenue, set up and administer, ensuring that the 99% is spent on the best value for union members.
A major plus here would be something that union rank in file in Wisconsin need most – mental health. We would offer a twelve step program to stop abusing bull horns and elderly women who disagree with them. Aversion therapy might include being restrained 12 hours a day listening to Pete Seeger Union songs from the 1930s while volunteer taxpayers pelt them with rotten tomatoes.
In summer when all the school teachers are idle, we could organize field trips to Cuba to help Fidel harvest sugar cane. For the mechanically inclined, we might offer a course in auto repair from the 1950s. Learn to change the water pump in a 1955 Dodge or a smart 1957 Chevy Impala. Language teachers could brush on their Spanish conversing with native speakers although there are some words you might want to avoid. Think of it as a reality spa. A Cuban tan, that workout chopping cane and the trim body you’ll get from living on 1500 calories per day.

You touch on a very important issue in your comment. There’s no reason to doubt that what you say is true. But Dutch (#16) said this:
“Since when did unions “provide health care?” For that matter, since when was health care NOT provided in the USA???”
Seems clear to me that Dutch is talking about health care–you know, actual medical treatment – not health insurance.
So I think you may be confusing health insurance with health care. You have lots of company in this, btw. Why does this matter? Because the problem with health care in this country is mainly its staggering cost and that can’t be solved by fiddling around with insurance. And because the more fundamental problem is not insurance, it’s the cost of medical care. That’s the problem the nation should be focusing on. Which brings us to another reason why “Obamacare” is such a bad act – it’s insurance regulation that has been sold to us as “health care reform”. It ain’t gonna work.

Earth to Hollyweird,
Union Power for Thee, But Not for Me
If the president is so upset with Wisconsin’s labor law reforms,
why won’t he allow federal workers to bargain collectively?
[The union horde is spreading, from Madison to Indianapolis to a state
capital near you. And yet the Democratic and union bigwigs engineering
the outrage haven't directed their angry multitudes at what is arguably
the most "hostile workplace" in the nation: Washington, D.C.
It will no doubt surprise you to learn that President Obama, the great
patron of the working man, also happens to be the great CEO of one
of the least union-friendly shop floors in the nation.
This is, after all, the president who has berated Wisconsin Gov. Scott
Walker's proposal to limit the collective bargaining rights of public
employees, calling the very idea an "assault on unions." This is also the
president who has sicced his political arm, Organizing for America, on
Madison, allowing the group to fill buses and plan rallies. Ah, but it's
easy to throw rocks when you live in a stone (White) house.
Fact: President Obama is the boss of a civil work force that numbers up to two million (excluding postal workers and uniformed military). Fact: Those federal workers cannot bargain for wages or benefits. Fact: Washington, D.C. is, in the purest sense, a "right to work zone." Federal employees are not compelled to join a union, nor to pay union dues. Fact: Neither Mr. Obama, nor the prior Democratic majority, ever acted to give their union chums a better federal deal.
Scott Walker, eat your heart out.]
btw, do they pay taxes, or are they exempt ala: Islamists in America??

He didn’t have to pay the Union Cost his Producers did. Unions are killing Hollywood.
Thats why most are going overseas to make movies.
I worked for 15 years in Hollywood and everyday the Producers complained about the Unions. Not the Crew .. no the Crew is great but you will get one guy and they are the pain in the ass every once in a while he’s lazy and complains “I’m calling my Union rep ” those people make everyone else mad. Union and Non Union alike.
The Union Crews are fine and thank them .. they work their butts off. The Unions the rest of us have to deal with aren’t fine and we are forced to pay for them out of our taxes they sit on their lazy asses and no one can kick them off set.
Your lazy and complain to your Union Rep in Hollywood you better make damn sure your butts covered because the Rep will pull your lazy butt of set in a hear beat.
Unions in Hollywood and the people have to work and be team players for the next job.
Unions outside of Hollywood have their jobs and no one has to send a resume to get the next job. They are safe.
If the all Unions were run the way Hollywood unions are. these people would all be looking for new jobs….
This is where Hollywood types get confused.
Noah commented:
Oh the reason Hollywood hates them is the Cost.. its one of the highest cost of production.
Union’s.. the great thing is every person is responsible for paying their own Union Dues.. you don’t pay your a station 12 and you don’t work period. another great Union deal for Hollywood.
But like I said the cost for the Union work is very high.. But the people will work their butts off for the Production and thats what makes everything better but everyone wants more bang for the buck and Hollywood is no different. Cheaper to go over seas and bypass a lot of the Union pay here in the States along with the high cost of locations, food, gas and so forth.

Anyone else notice it was ALL WHITE MEN winning awards?
The director of The King’s Speech even made a comment about “the triangle of men” in the movie – and specifically DID NOT even mention Helena Carter, the female lead. She was appalled, as was I.
There were no Black actors on the stage at all and only one or two in the audience. It was weird.
Thank God Tea Party rallies include and respect women and men, as well as people of all races/ethnicities.
kansas commented:
What about us stupid non union bastiges who pay to watch Hollywood crap? No more money from me you a-wholes.
Noah commented:
There aren’t a lot of blacks who work the back side of production. and when they do they mostly work on black productions. Hollywood is not racist.. there just aren’t that many who produce/direct or film. more act and I’m sure as time goes on more will move into other aspects of film.
But when it comes to a project you want the best of the best so you can make money.. the money comes on the back in for most production people.. You have to be willing to work projects that don’t pay a lot to move up in the ranks of Hollywood your resume speaks for it’s self and if you were on a project that made some big bucks more people will hire you.
It’s all about your resume not your skin color. unless its a black or hispanic productions then more black people will put in for it and get hired. Resumes are everything and your work speaks for itself.. also the people you worked for on your last project.. resumes are checked and you better have done everything you said you did and people on the last project had better have liked you to be able to move on to the next one.
There are political’s who get hired because someone higher up is helping them out but that person will only work on the others projects if they are a goof. they won’t get hired by anyone else.
Noah commented:
The black actors could have been working on another project. you work 18 plus hours on set and have late wrap times and way to early call times.. not everyone cares about the going to the Oscars unless they have time or they are up for one… Moving on to the next project is what is important to everyone who works in Hollywood.
If the Actor’s weren’t there is one their choice not to go and far as Helena maybe she pissed someone off or they just forgot in the heat of the moment.
Don’t get pissed off at me.. I’m giving you the inside scope.
I have worked on Oscar winning moves and non union movies .. its all the same expect same.
this is how Hollywood works and for the most part.. its an amazing fun hard working place to be. but one of the best things you can do and make lots of money while doing it.
It’s also unforgiving if you screw up one to many times your gone.
you are in charge of you and your next job.
