Stunner. Barack Obama’s Organizing for America website is helping to organize the “day of rage” protests in Wisconsin.

What a complete shock.
Ben Smith at The Politico reported:
The Democratic National Committee’s Organizing for America arm – the remnant of the 2008 Obama campaign — is playing an active role in organizing protests against Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker’s attempt to strip most public employees of collective bargaining rights.
OfA, as the campaign group is known, has been criticized at times for staying out of local issues like same-sex marraige, but it’s riding to the aide of the public sector unions who hoping to persuade some Republican legislators to oppose Walker’s plan. And while Obama may have his difference with teachers unions, OfA’s engagement with the fight — and Obama’s own clear stance against Walker — mean that he’s remaining loyal to key Democratic Party allies at what is, for them, a very dangerous moment.
The OFA Wisconsin twitter feed bragged about how they used students as props at their protests today.

Unconstitutional. The POTUS as created under the authority of the Constitution is tasked with amongst other things: to “promote domestic tranquillity.”
Deliberately pitting Americans against each other is NOT promoting domestic tranquillity. As for overfed teachers with attitude and a 9 1/2 month work year with gobs of vacation time and their hysterical fraud about being in slavery, I’d rather send my cash to real anti-slavery groups who need the cash to liberate actual slaves in Mauritania, Mali and Niger.
Parents should cowboy up and start taking active responsibility for their children’s educations. The easy fobbing off of kids into government schools has seduced a generation into abdicating their family duties to educate their own. This generation spends a lot of time complaining about apathetic and acting out children, without a clue as to WHY kids are like that.
Maybe being trapped all day in classrooms with grown-up, trantruming ,spoiled brats has disgusted kids on authority. Ed, no offense intended, but you are sorely uninformed about the U.S. We get plenty of vacation time (took 2 weeks off in 2010 for an Alaskan cruise, and another 2 weeks for hunting and family stuff, with leave days to spare); we get federally mandated family leave too (both my wife and I took considerable leave when our children arrived).
Dismissal without cause is pretty rare in my experience; it can lead to legal action even if the charge is false (as I’ve witnessed), and an employer that made such behavior a habit would soon experience a labor shortage or work slowdown. The minimum wage is most definitely legally enforceable, which is unfortunate as it often prices inexperienced youth out of the job market.
As for our country being run into the ground; it’s been 24 years since I spent time in the UK, but was not terribly impressed by your level of prosperity even then. Following your media (and many of your expats) it seems things have gotten even worse. Indeed, glancing at the stats, it seems we are just now “catching up” with you in such measures as structural unemployment, moribund growth, and inflation, and doing so precisely because we have been managing the economy more and more in a UK style.

Friend –
The state legislature may vote as soon as this week on Gov. Scott Walker’s radical plan to strip Wisconsin’s public employees of the right to organize.
He is proposing an attack on our public workers — from those who teach our children to those who plow our streets — taking away their ability to fight for the better working conditions and pay all our families need and deserve.
The bill is coming up for a vote just days after it was introduced, leaving no time for public debate. Gov. Walker has even alerted the National Guard to be ready in the event of “labor unrest.”
But our allies are fighting back — organizing across workplaces, schools, and neighborhoods — and they’ve set up a phone line to let Wisconsinites make direct calls to their legislators. They need our voices to back them up.
Our lawmakers are looking to their constituents as they decide how to vote — and your call could make the difference right now.
Call (877) 753-5578 and follow the instructions to reach your state lawmakers directly, or click here
to look up your state legislator. Urge them to take a stand to preserve our state employees’ collective bargaining rights.
Wisconsin’s workers represent the best our state has to offer — and they’re not numbers, or statistics.
They are working mothers and fathers. They are our friends and our neighbors. They care for the patients in our hospitals and rehabilitate those in our correctional facilities. They protect and patrol our state parks. They teach our children. They provide the vital services that keep our communities running.
They agree that we all need to work together to find a commonsense solution to balance the budget — but they deserve to be part of a solution that was reached fairly and reasonably. They deserve a seat at the table where decisions are made.
But that’s not what Gov. Walker has in mind.
He’s trying to avoid starting a dialogue — but we’ll make our voices impossible to ignore. Together, we can let our lawmakers know that we won’t stand for a plan that lowers wages, reduces benefits, and snatches away the fundamental organizing rights of thousands.
Call lawmakers today at (877) 753-5578 and ask them to vote to preserve the collective bargaining rights of Wisconsin’s public workers
or click here to look up your state legislator:

________
Hi:
Scott Walker has done the unthinkable.
Friday, Gov. Walker made the shocking announcement that he plans to use the government to strip away the rights workers in Wisconsin. And he’s willing to call out the National Guard to enforce his unprecedented power grab.
Stand with workers, right now, and sign our petition
demanding your legislator vote against Gov. Walker’s proposal to take away rights from working Wisconsinites.
http://onewisconsinnow.pnstate.org/site/Advocacy?pagename=homepage&id=825
We need to send a message to our representatives at the Capitol that Wisconsin is united against Gov. Walker’s assault on workers in our state. Gov. Walker refused to even meet with public employees, something which Republican and Democratic governors have done in good faith for the past half century. Public employees offered $100 million in concessions and Walker responded by refusing to even meet with them.
Tell Scott Walker: Pull Down Your Ad!
Gov. Walker has shoved these abhorrent proposals – such as ending collective bargaining, raiding health programs, and selling state assets to benefit business – in a so-called budget repair bill, but make no mistake: this plan does not create jobs and it will increase our long-term debt.
Why, when unemployment in Wisconsin is so high, would Gov. Walker propose a plan that would use government to take away the rights of people that still are working? Why, after he increased the deficit with a $140 million special interest giveaway, would Gov. Walker propose a budget repair bill that does nothing to repair the budget?
Tell your legislator you oppose this government scheme to take away rights in Wisconsin
http://onewisconsinnow.pnstate.org/site/Advocacy?pagename=homepage&id=825
With this bill, Gov. Walker puts himself in charge of independent agencies, he strips away collective bargaining rights so he can personally dictate winners and losers and give himself the power to unilaterally cut people from BadgerCare and SeniorCare without a vote of the full legislature.
It’s unthinkable. But he’s trying to do it. And we have to stop him.
Demand your legislator
vote against the appalling budget repair bill Gov. Walker has proposed, and get your friends and family to do the same. Don’t wait. Wisconsin’s workers need you to take action right now.
http://onewisconsinnow.pnstate.org/site/Advocacy?pagename=homepage&id=825
Thank you for all you do,
scot
PS: A massive mobilization is being planned at the State Capitol this Tuesday and Wednesday. If you are able, please come and show your support for the rights of working Wisconsinites. The events begin at 11a.m. both days. Together, we must stop Gov. Walker’s plan dead in its tracks.

Sorry “Ed”. No dice. Your country EXISTS because MINE bailed you out, not once but twice. You EXIST because my father and others like him came to the UK to help your country and your navy when you were being bombed to oblivion, when we sent you food (and a lot of Americans died protecting it) because you were starving. And when that war was over your country STILL relied on the United States of America to bail you out financially and with yet more food. Rationing in the UK was worse after World War II than it was during the war. And your country remained in the toilet for decades. I’ve been alive nearly every one of those years to see this at first hand. In fact, it is only recently that you’ve even had enough jobs to approximate going around – or don’t you remember the years when half of all Britons were on the dole?
Our labor laws are as “advanced” as yours are and I am quite positive that we are not the “only country on earth with no vacation days.” Since you freely admit that you are not either a US Citizen or a US Resident, why don’t you keep your “upper crust” nose over across the pond where it belongs and STFU.

This is a case for privatization of ALL education. For what we pay per pupil per year of public school, we could send them ALL – every one of them – to private schools. Maria commented:
“What do you americans have against workers rights anyway?”
What do you Europeans have against freedom, anyway? Self-sufficiency? What do you have against innovation? Why do people go to the UK? To see the homes of dead writers or poets. To ride on a double decker bus, get a bagel necklace, then go home. Why do people come to the US? For higher education. (Our public schools suck – just like yours.) For timely medical care that is second to none. (Until OhBummerCare kicks in – socialized medicine like you have, then we’ll have people dying in the halls of ER’s like you have.)
The once proud people of the once great UK have fallen to the false gods of Political Correctness and “green technology” (which is an oxymoron) and over-regulation and over-taxation of it’s people, all in the name of the nanny state. But, then again, you people always were a little too power hungry.
When we kick OhBummer out in 2012, maybe you can elect him as your new leader since you relish the thought of being under the leadership of morons.

the fact that ofa sent a few buses does not prove they organized it, and the fact that they saw some students protesting does not mean they sent those students. Obama and ofa are charter schools supporters and are not friend to us labor people either. Not everyone in the world cares about your narrow party machines in Washington least of all us labor people who see no benefit from either.

the unions should make drastic sacrifices like the rest of us citizens have to. they are not entitled to make the rest of us to suffer. they are not at all willing to give up their fair share. especially concerening healthcare. the contribution to these so called benefits are miniscuel in comparison to the populace. they are greedy and corrupt as their political cronies.
