The SEIU lobbied hard today against the GOP amendment to repeal Obamacare.

This is despite the fact that several SEIU chapters have been granted Obamacare waivers.
The Hill reported:

The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is lobbying hard against the amendment offered by Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) to repeal the healthcare reform law.

SEIU has sent e-mails to Senate offices urging lawmakers to vote against the proposal to unwind President Obama’s signature domestic initiative.

“A vote in support of this amendment is a vote to raise out-of-pocket healthcare costs for working families and takes away critical consumer protections provided to Americans for the first time,” SEIU urged senators, according to a copy of the e-mail obtained by The Hill.

The lobby informed senators that a vote for McConnell’s amendment would count against them on its legislative scorecard.

SEIU’s outspoken defense of the law has prompted charges of hypocrisy from Republicans, given that some of the union’s chapters have sought waivers exempting them from a key provision of the law requiring the phaseout of health plans with low caps on annual benefits.

  1. Republicans need to offer a bill waiving many many many many more groups. Catholics, Small businesses, etc etc etc and let the libs deny those groups waivers if they want so we can either get waivers or show them to be mean jerks who hate everyone but their contributors and supporters.

Make them pay in the court of public opinion. That or if they cant get it done. Introduce a bill eliminating any and all waivers as discriminatory and make all those who got them suffer with the rest of the country…

  2. Mencken once quipped that unions did not exist to assure good work, but to protect bad work.

One might add that unions bankrupt industries and loot the public purse.

  3. Hypocrisy = SEIU

    Long and loud.

Workers of the World, pay me your dues. – what the union bosses should be quoted as saying and meaning.

  4. Complete list of entities that have successfully obtained waivers from HHS:

    http://www.hhs.gov/ociio/regulations/approved_applications_for_waiver.html

Alot of unions along the lines of the UFCW, Teamsters, IBEW and SEIU who were lobbying hard for this turd in the first place

  5. I’m beginning to think that Obamacare is suppose to be exclusively for Republicans and conservatives.

  6. Should we be keeping an eye on the docks for the off loading of camels for the union thugs or do you think the Communist will go Iran style with two on a motorcycle? bahahahaha

  7. WAIVERS FOR EVERYONE!

    serious!

  8. forget the waivers, make them put some “skin in the game”. pass a law disavowing all waivers and let’s see the what happens with the unions. also, if congress can’t exempt themselves from paying taxes, they shouldn’t be allowed to be exempt from obamacare. i will never support a law that is written exclusively by a congress whose first priority is to exclude themselves.

2012: Palin, you are our only hope

  9. England’s Socialized Healthcare System is unionized and is the third largest employer in the world. Since the Unions are the largest contributors to the Democrats’ election campaigns, why are we even questioning why the Democrats passed Obamacare? It was payback to the Unions and a way to make the Democrats and Big Government more powerful.

  10. The ugly face of crony capitalism, perfected under FDR with the formation of the UAW and other unions.

  11. Joanne, you might be on to something here. Death panels – not only for granny, but for conservatives, as well.

  12. the dictatorship of the far left

  13. Health care takeover for you, stooge, not for me says the Union leftists.
    Is anyone here surprised?

    Who is John Galt?
