LEFTISTS ERUPT IN RAGE as the GOP majority passed Governor Walker’s budget cut bill in the Wisconsin Assembly last night.
The far left politicians and supporters shouted “Shame!” and “Cowards!” as the GOP majority passed their budget cut bill.

Wisconsin Republicans passed Governor Scott Walker’s budget cut plan late last night. The bill will significantly curtail public union collective bargaining rights.
The AP reported:

Republicans in the Wisconsin Assembly took the first significant action on their plan to strip collective bargaining rights from most public workers, abruptly passing the measure early Friday morning before sleep-deprived Democrats realized what was happening.

The vote ended three straight days of punishing debate in the Assembly. But the political standoff over the bill — and the monumental protests at the state Capitol against it — appear far from over.

The Assembly’s vote sent the bill on to the Senate, but minority Democrats in that house have fled to Illinois to prevent a vote. No one knows when they will return from hiding. Republicans who control the chamber sent state troopers out looking for them at their homes on Thursday, but they turned up nothing.

“I applaud the Democrats in the Assembly for earnestly debating this bill and urge their counterparts in the state Senate to return to work and do the same,” Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald, R-Horicon, said in a statement issued moments after the vote.

The plan from Republican Gov. Scott Walker contains a number of provisions he says are designed to fill the state’s $137 million deficit and lay the groundwork for fixing a projected $3.6 billion shortfall in the upcoming 2011-13 budget.

Debate had gone on for 60 hours and 15 Democrats were still waiting to speak when the vote started around 1 a.m. Friday. Speaker Pro Tem Bill Kramer, R-Waukesha, opened the roll and closed it within seconds.

Democrats looked around, bewildered. Only 13 of the 38 Democratic members managed to vote in time.

Republicans immediately marched out of the chamber in single file. The Democrats rushed at them, pumping their fists and shouting “Shame!” and “Cowards!”

  1. Fled to parts unknown. This is what the Rs in congress should have done when Obamacare came up for a vote. They were already locked out of the democratic process.

  2. Cowards? I think not!

  3. The orange shirts are an embarrassment. They were elected to represent and vote as they see fit. Not to run away or stage on the floor temper tantrums. Childish to say the least.

  4. Who are all those red-shirted demonstrators down on the Assembly floor?

  5. Life’s a b*tch when the shoe is on the other foot !

  6. “Republicans immediately marched out of the chamber in single file. The Democrats rushed at them, pumping their fists and shouting “Shame!” and “Cowards!””

So, what would be the headline today if the news had been…”tea party members rushed to them, pumping their fists and shouting “Shame” and “Cowards”"???

    Next up…blaming Sarah Palin…

  7. The American people have a choice: governance by adults or by spoiled brats.

    Your choice…

  8. Finally! Republicans with balls! The GOP cowards in the Congress are running scared about Obama’s plan to shut down government; they’re crying that they won’t win that media battle. Fight, you morons, fight!

  9. The choice is not between governance by spoiled chidren or adults but by union looters thug government apparatchiks bent on a constructing an oligarchic tyranny or the rule of law, solvency, liberty & a future.

  10. Where were the cries of “shame” and “cowards” when the dems passed Obamacare in the middle of a holiday in the middle of the night? Oh yeah, the dems were the ones doing it.

  11. Demonrats shaked their fists as they walked out, eh? Now they must know how the Republicans felt when Obamacare was passed. Elections have consequences and boy oh boy bring on 2012 so we can correct our white house mistake. Cain/West.

  12. In the minds of these nut jobs, it’s ok to be the goose, but never the gander…… bwahahaha!

  13. I wonder, are all Democrats commies now? Do they even know?

  14. EXACTLY: Elections have consequences.

    NEXT!

  15. If they don’t have one, the GOP needs an over sized gavel they can walk through the crowd with?

  16. Its time to live like the rest of the American people w/o all the bells and whistles i.e. excessive benefits and government money paying their way.

  17. Good. Keep pushing until the left is utterly destroyed. They’ve ruled our country with a red iron fist for far too long. We started out right-wing as a nation and created the most prosperous and free country in the world in less than 100 years. Then the left started to takeover our culture and government and we’ve been on a self-destructive path ever since. It’s time to snatch our country back from their filthy marxist hands and to return it back to its former glory. If these people want to live under socialism then go move to Europe. Most Americans hate big government and always will. Deal with it.

  18. Shame on the Democrat Socialist Party for turning Madison into a creepy re-enactment of the Munich Beer Hall Putsch

  19. Haha! The left doesn’t like getting smacked around. Keep it up GOP, we are watching and supporting you! When it comes down to a massive movement in this country and it’s us against them, we will win, good will prevail. The commies can go back to their glorified nations or accept Capitalism and live like humans for a change.

  20. New World Order= global banks, global corporations, and global unions. Yes, they are all three on the same team. Odumbo is a sock puppet for all three and these stupid union goons are the enforcers. The sad part is the 90% that are not true believers aren’t even aware that they are being used. The Wisconsin GOP is defanging the union backed beaurocratic oligorchy, and giving more power back to the taxpaying citizens.

  21. Didn’t Michelle Obama pass a law that most of those redshirts need to be chained to government owned stationary bikes and returned to their mothers only when the desired weight is obtained?

  22. The conservative republicans stand for the rule of law and the constitution. The democrats, as a whole, have little respect for either. The republicans usually do what is right in matters of law and the democrats only follow the rules when they know they will get their way.
Recall the fleegaggers Wisconsin, and begin healing your state.

  23. baggers, flee BAGGERS. crap.

  24. What an embarrassing spectacle by the orange shirted democrats. I can’t believe that happened on the Assembly floor.

I only wish the guts being shown by republican representatives of Wisconsin extended to the spineless repubs in D.C. If you can’t stand on principle, you need to move along.

  25. Isn’t it telling that whenever something despicable happens an ANY legislative floor it’s always democrats behind it?

  26. Can we trust these angry people to return to their jobs eventually and act in a civil and responsible manner?

  27. STAND STRONG FREEDOM LOVERS!

  28. what cracks me up is that only the democrats were sleep deprived, according to the quote from the article. apparently, the ebil republicans were not, as conservatives don’t sleep. If we slept, we wouldn’t have time to poison drinking water, destroy the environment, collect payoffs from the koch brothers (I’m still waiting for my bag o’ cash) and eat babies… oh wait, that last one is democrats.

  29. SHAME manufacturing has been shipped oversease because unions make it too difficult for companies to operate in America!

SHAME union members have been tricked into believing that it is their RIGHT to get paid the same salary as someone that actually PRODUCES SOMETHING!

SHAME these pot-bellied, low-IQ parasites keep breeding!

  30. Do the Dems congresspeople realize how ridiculous they look in their orange t shirts? Like if they are part of the Union army or something.Silly me, I thought they were representative of the people of their district, not union representatives.

  31. Love those shirts. Jailhouse Orange really is their color.

What a bunch of useless tools.

  32. Now they need to enforce the rules and kick the union squatters out of the Capital Bldg. They are destroying it!

  33. Oh and #5 — those red shirted protestors on the Assembly Floor are our wonderful Democrat Assembly Members. It’s a solidarity thing.

  34. So when the force of your argument is in the shouts of the gallery defending their stealing from the public, the Democrats should be ashamed. Wisconsin has a debt restructuring coming up, which they will miss, at the cost of $165,000,000. Where is the shame in the Democrats for that? In the last 30 years, by former district has almost always given teachers a pay raise. The worse years, and there were only one or two, individual teachers pay increase was solely on the pay schedule, and some at the end of lanes didn’t get a pay raise. But for the most part, teachers got raises every year. Bernie Maddoff would be proud of that record. When are RICO laws going into effect against public sector unions?

  35. And here in Illinoise they just borrow the money to pay the pension plans. This will not end well.

  36. Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown who, not incidentally, was a strong supporter of Obamacare, had this to say about recent efforts to reform public sector labor rules:

“These governors, they didn’t win landslides, they didn’t win 60-40 and have this mandate. They won elections because there was huge job loss in this country,” he said.

“They didn’t win because they said, ‘I’m going to go after the teachers, or I’m going to go after the nurses or the firefighters.’ They won because Ohio lost 400,000 jobs. The Democratic incumbents couldn’t give a good enough reason that the public accepted that they should be continued in office,” Sen. Brown said.

Brown said voters in the November 2010 elections did not provide a mandate of “let’s bust the unions.”

Scott Walker won his governorship in 2010 by about the same margin that Barack Obama won the presidency in 2008 but Sherrod Brown would certainly have rejected any suggestion that Obama lacked a sufficient “mandate” to radically alter the nation’s health care system the way he did — on a whisker-thin, corruption laden vote — only because he was elected as a result of the bad economy in 2008.

Sometimes you just have to marvel at what comes out their mouths.

  37. The bill in Wisconsin was well known, every sentence examined by public and state assembly, alike. However, the recent Health Care bill passed by our Congress was the exact opposite.Yet the red crowd condems the democractic process while silent on latter. The real people who acted with “shame” were plainly visible.

  38. We won! Elections have consequences!

A brilliant summing up of the rat party:

    http://townhall.com/columnists/monacharen/2011/02/25/the_anti-reform_party/page/full/

  39. Looks like one of those South Korean assembly meetings sans the punches.

  40. Are the orange-shirted people really Democratic congressmen? All the better–they’re just making it clear who owns them.

  41. How dare Walker save all those jobs! The nerve of him!

  42. ‘baggers, flee BAGGERS. crap.’ … actually fleegaggers is not too bad, you may have something there

  43. One step in a long overdue fight against a corrupt and selfish system known as unions. They should be ashamed themselves for being elitists I stand and support Govenor Walker and the Republicans in office in Wisconson. Union thugs, if you have a problem with my point of view, bring it on.

  44. TEA party movement-1
    Fleebaggers- 0

    Lets run up the score!

  45. So when Democrats subvert the system by fleeing, it’s despicable behavior.

When Republicans subvert the system, by opening and closing the roll call before anyone knew what was happening, it’s freedom?

Make up your minds, people! Which is it?

  46. They made the WI Assembly floor look like an inner city IHOP that just ran out of maple syrup.

  47. *****———–> “Democrats looked around, bewildered.” <———-*****

roflmbo, one of the best quotes ever from the AP :-) :-)

  48. Somebody remind these union thugs that elections have consequences and this what representative government looks like –

Time for “The Green Bay Slackers” to get back to work!

  49. lolololol I love it. Official picture of bewildered leftist

My caption: “Today’s Civics lesson for Mizz Bramptlyberger”

  50. The little known John Lennon monologue from the Magical Entitlement Tour:

When a man buys a ticket for a Magical Entitlement Tour
    He knows what to expect.
We guarantee him the trip of a lifetime
And that’s just what he gets.
    The incredible Magical Entitlement Tour!

Unfortunately, the man doesn’t buy the ticket, the taxpayer hands them out. With around 35% of American’s on government “payrolls” we need to tackle significant entitlement reform. Otherwise, we will continue to play Obama-Poker and lose our future.

  51. Unions, doing to government what they did to Detroit.

  52. Democrats are the party of the bureaucracy. Dem candidates come from the bureaucracy and if turned out of office go back to it. The dems will never betray the bureaucracy.

  53. What are the benefits of the Wisconsin assemblymen? Do they get lifetime pensions and healthcare benefits paid for by taxpayers’ dollars? Are they sharing in the cuts?

  54. So the party of politicians who FLED THE STATE accuse Republicans of COWARDICE!!!! Now THAT’S funny!!!!

  55. Deflect much? Rather than try to correct an issue that is projected to bankrupt us locally and nationally, lets look at the small contribution to the problem, our elected officials. I’ll be honest, I don’t know how much the assemblyman receives for their service, or how much they contribute. I can’t seem to locate the data, but our overall exposure on entitlements will account for 100% of our tax revenue in a decade or so.

TJ: your blog is entertaining and refreshing. Love the game and helps open the eyes of the ignorant.

  56. Looks like those orange/red shirted protesters need to head on over to Michell Obama’s ‘letsmove’ website.

  57. Don’t let my moniker confuse you, I’m not now and never was a resident of Wisconsin. But today, if I were a resident, I would be very proud.

  58. OK, numbskulls! The party is over in the House. Public Union Teachers demonstrate their total lack of civility and an understanding of how a Democratic Republican government functions.

You LOST; get over it. The People of Wisconsin voted in a responsible Republican Majority last November. The House has voted, you LOST. Soon, the Fleebagger Senators will come slinking back and a vote in the Senate will be taken. You will LOSE there also.

Now get out of the faces of the taxpayers of Wisconsin and the United States or LOSE your jobs. We don’t need ignorant thugs teaching our children.

  59. What the Democrats did was wrong, but what the Republicans did was also wrong. You’re encouragement of either side in this case is why there’s no bipartisan deals anymore. Sheep for herding. Have fun going to the slaughter everyone.

  60. I applaud the dems in the wisconson house for agreeing to come back and vote, in exchange for an open debate on the bill, and I also applaud the repub leadership in that chamber for agreeing to that compromise. That is responsible democracy. The dems in the WS Senate should do the same.

Has the media ever noted that the repubs in congress could have stopped Obamacare by doing the same, fleeing the country to avoid a quarum, but were responsible enough not to. It always seems to be the dems that pull these crazy stunts.

Also, do you remember the media constantly howling about hateful Tea Party signs, and Tea Party violence, with litle to no evidence it ever happened, or that the Tea Party was actually responsible, while the WS demonstrators have Real hateful signs, captured on videotape, and have perpetrated Real violence, also captured on videotape, and the MSM says nothing about it.

  61. These Libs looked as stupid as Letterman did last night on his show in debate with Rand Paul…… All emotion and no notion!

  62. suck it, Union goons!

  63. “Only 13 of 38 Democrats managed to vote on time” probably tells the story most succinctly. They were, in effect, filibustering the legislation. After 40 hours of continuously submitting amendments to the legislation that they knew would go nowhere to prevent the vote, they are complaining because the Republicans decided it was time to pull the plug on their game. The Democrats are the ones who should be ashamed for wasting the time and energy over those 40 hours. They should be ashamed to be part of a group who is trying to defy the will of the Wisconsin voters. The governor ran on a platform, won handily just a couple of months ago, and is attempting to fulfill his pledges. The Democrats are children trying to co-opt the agenda of the responsible adults who are addressing the problems created by legislators of both parties buying the votes of public employees. They will get the message soon enough if/when the public employee layoffs start because the unions refused to allow their members to support diminished wages and bargaining “rights”. Public employees work for the public, not “greedy capitalists”. They should not have unions because it only encourages corruption of legislators that pander to them for votes.

  64. Those shouting shame should be ashamed that they feel the government should be handing out more to those in unions than everyone else. Shame on them and their greed.

  65. Nothing cowardly about staring down thousands of union goons.

  66. Bravo, Wisconsin!

Now, let’s hope that the Congressional majority in DC learns from this. Sometimes all it takes is a good example.

    respectfully,
    Daniel in Brookline

  67. The reporter and editor of the quoted piece are working overtime . . . . it makes no difference whether the Democrat minority was sleepy or unaware of the vote. Those who didn’t vote missed only the opportunity to cast a symbolic “NO” vote that would have had no effect . . . . the effect of not voting is the same as voting against a bill. The number of people voting *against* the bill makes no difference whatsoever as long as the number of people voting *for* the bill exceeds the threshold.

  68. Public sector unions are a mechanism to funnel taxpayer money to the Democratic Party through payrool-deducted union sues. This must stop. I hope Gov. Walker hangs tough.

  69. Gov. Scott Walker and the republicans have done the right and responsible thing in reducing the power and entitlements of this shameful union while trying to curb their states debt, I would say that they need to go even further. Our public employee’s pay and benefits has become double that of an equitable private sector job or military service. If the majority of Americans have had to suffer under this recession why should these public employees be exempt at tax payers expense? How can they go on an illegal strike, stopping public services that we the tax payer rely on and pay for, and which in New York City, when the sanitation workers shirked their snow removal duties, resulted in deaths? The actions of these public employee unions and the democrat politicians who are evidently owned by them is selfish and unconscionable. Even FDR knew that public employee unions were a conflict of interest and bad for the country. I’ve watched my retired public employee neighbor, who was a human resources secretary for the FAA, get an 80% pension and gold plated benefits, none of which has been affected at all by the down economy. She owns two houses and doesn’t even have to work! Even worse is the disgusting incivility, racism, sexism and violence being displayed by these union goons, most of which don’t even have a clue about history, or even reality for that matter. The bottom line is that the majority of working class regular Joe’s and Josephine’s are seeing through the smokescreen and learning what the true state of largess is on the part of their public employees and government, and they’re becoming very, very sick of it. This is why a TEA Party was born, this is why there was a republican sweep in 2010, and this is why no amount of union campaign donations (effectively stolen from the tax payer) is going to help the democrats in 2012, they are simply on the wrong side of reality and people are tired of watching our country be spent into oblivion while a favored political class go on unscathed at the expense of the rest of us. Public employee unions must be banned and fiscal responsibility must become the new rule!

And finally, lest I forget, a note to all these striking teachers and those sympathetic to them who will be bussed (at my expense) to their state capitols this weekend: Get back to work you overpaid leeches, and remember who pays for you. At least you have a job!

And to the bought and payed for politicians who are enabling this farce: Get back to work and balance the budget, or next election you won’t have a job!

Next thing we’ll have to tackle is this welfare entitlement class. Us folks who are footing the bill are getting tired of watching these folks in line at the market getting better food and chatting on a better phone than we have. It’s even worse when you see multiple generations of them, and you know exactly how much they’re essentially stealing from you in welfare, food stamps, and medical because they are unfortunately related to you. It’s even worse when you see them scream and rage at the pharmacy because they have to pay a $1.50 copay for meds that cost hundreds of dollars, never mind the carton of smokes and case of beer in their cart that they seem to be able to easily afford, without working. And they keep voting in the largess, when they’re not to lazy to mail in their ballot…heck, I guess that’s what folks like ACORN are there for.

  70. This victory was made possible by the Tea Party movement. Until its appearance, Republicans have let the socialists have their way *every* time.

Support you local Tea Party. Attend a meeting. It’s two hours a month. Do it, you know that you should.

  71. They make make the Wisconsin legislative chambers look/sound like:

The Constiuent Assembly in the heat of the French Revolution.
The Russian Duma during circa 1917.
The Athenian Assembly in the era of Creon’s popularity.

There is a shouting sound that drowns out all else. There is a uniform (like the red liberty caps). There is a mob outside the doors.

Novelist Maryilnne Robinson recently said she “misses civilization.” And there is NO civilized democrat, nor any historically-informed democrat, nor any democrat familiar with the thought of the founders, who can view this video and not see who the SHAME really belongs to.

  72. I hope these union clowns carry on like this for as long as possible. The American public is watching and learning and understanding.

  73. It becomes more apparent each day that we simply cannot bring reason to these irrational people. They acted out in this uncivilized temper tantrum simply because their position did not prevail in a democratic vote at a State Assembly meeting of representatives elected by the people???

By looking the other way for so long, as we allowed them to loot the coffers of government treasuries all over the nation, we fostered their denial. We should blame ourselves for having stood by the side for so long as the governments all over the nation spent themselves into oblivion.

Now, on top of having to fix what they ruined… we have to incur their ire???
THEY are the ones who should hang their heads in shame.

  74. So the Wisconsin Republicans pulled a fast one on the Democrats? Who do those Republicans think they are, Democrats? :-)

Don’t they know that only Dems are allowed to pull sneaky parliamentary maneuvers? How dare they!

  75. these are the people who a month ago were calling out for civility. i guess they didn’t hear that “great” speech our president made.

  76. elections apparently DO have results.
sorry if these are not always pleasant

  77. I wish the leftists would move to Europe where they so adamantly want to live. I’m tired of them screwing up our way of life and telling us what inferior beings we are. We need a new gov’t program!! RELOCATE A LEFTIST!! I’d contribute my share, believe me!

  78. It is SO TRUE. The vast majority of the comments here are of One Voice. (Yeah! America!) As we move forward, we need to set up a way to track who is actually voting. I am very afraid that the votes of AMERICANs are being stolen… and our legislators have done nothing to stop the voting problems that allowed ACORN to go from voting precinct to voting precinct… from city to city… and county to county. And what about the voting machines that spit out straight democratic votes despite the fact that the ballotter had voted republican! Wake up Leaders! Wake up People!!!We are smart enough to deal with this… but we need someone to kick it off…

  79. Whether I am rightwing or leftwing, I would rather play honestly. Neither side has a monopoly on questionable deeds. To clean our house, honor has to begin with my own.
Can you dispute this? Will you defend your own dishonor by always saying it is the other guy?

The bill gives the Governor authority to hand over the people’s assets to whatever entity he wishes at whatever price he desires. This appears to be a gift to billionaires. It does not look good. If he wants to make a case for handing over property he should do that openly and bargain as if he is trying to get the best deal for us.

I do like that he has the will to make cuts. It is about time. There are much better ways to make his arguments and request ideas and enjoin the public employees in this effort. This was rushed in order to hide provisions from the people.

Everything in the bill has to be acceptable to me in order to vote on it, if it is not, then section that part out for a separate vote and bill. It is not that hard to do if you understand the rules of honorable legislating.
