Remember: When Barack Obama, the worst jobs president since the Great Depression, talks about creating jobs… He’s lying.

Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson testified before the House Energy and Commerce Committee about her agency’s ability to regulate greenhouse gas emissions under the Clean Air Act. Congressman John Shimkus (R, Illinois) tore into Jackson, at one point demanding, “Do you believe in the law of supply and demand?!”

Big Government
reported in October: A recent report from the Senate Environment and Public Works committee detailed how the EPAs new backdoor regulations will cause a shocking job loss – nearly a million jobs. In their quest “green” the nation, the EPA is steamrolling over American industries – cement, steel and coal, among others – with unrealistic standards and impossibly complex regulations, threatening thousands upon thousands of jobs, not just in the industries themselves, but in the surrounding communities that depend heavily on the industries’ welfare.

  1. Just sent a note to Congressman Shimkus, my rep, congratulating him on bringing reality to these theoretically based thugs! Make them squirm! I’ve never seen him so exorcised. It was good to watch.

  2. Go getem’ GOP. Enough with the totalitarian EPA.

  3. This is great news that the GOP is fighting the EPA. I think the real problem, though, is that the Supreme Court ruled that CO2 is a pollutant. Because of that, the EPA has the power to regulate CO2 emissions. Can a Supreme Court decision be overturned?

  4. I work in the energy industry. Part of my job responsibility is to monitor regulatory issues that my company faces. To put it kindly, the EPA is a clear and present danger to the future economic health of the USA.

I would invite GP readers to visit the EPA website and sign up to receive their emails. You will be astounded and infuruated at what this agency is pursuing in terms of “environmental justice”. We are being strangled with our own tax dollars.

  5. The EPA needs to be defunded – to zero in the present FY. Dump all of the employees on the street and have nobody left to exercise the regs. Defund all of the programs they run.

And while at it – defund the Dept of Education, Dept of Energy (except for nuclear power) and all of the subsidies and Dept of Agriculture. Halve the budget for the Executive. Next year start work on Interior and HHS.

  6. We have almost 18,000 EPA employees.
    Why?
    How many are lawyers?
Nixon sucked, still sucks and as time goes on sucks even more. Progressive traitor to America.

  7. “with unrealistic standards and impossibly complex regulations”

The second part is just as bad as the first. The amount of money and especially time spent in an effort to be in compliance with the EPA and the other various Ministries of Compliance is astounding. And no matter how hard people try, there is still a good chance they are somehow out of compliance due to the sheer complexity of the processes and incompetence of the bureaucrats. This leaves businesses in a constant state of risk of the State coming down on them if they get too uppity. I think the same thing was behind the 1099 requirement in Obamacare. Keep all businesses in a state of perpetual legal non-compliance so they will be more politically compliant and less mouthy.

  8. Cut the 18000 employment in half, doing away with people that do not have a full job and are instead generating work. The remaining half will work on the necessary issues. The EPA has a real job. Firing half will manage down the scope to what is necessry.

  9. The EPA policies are another device meant to end capitalism under the guise of protecting the environment.

  10. There are districts in the country you could get elected to congress by running against the EPA. Where I am from. The farmers have a policy of Shoot, Shovel, and Shut up. If you see an endangered species, you shot it. Bury it, and tell no one. Better to keep your farm than lose it to a darn animal that no one needs or wants.

  11. Look for the EPA to kill an economic boom due to the oil industry in North Dakota where the unemployment rate is 3.8:

    http://www.bluecollarphilosophy.com/2011/02/will-the-epa-destroy-the-economic-boom-in-north-dakota-because-its-an-oil-boom.html

How long before Obama’s EPA screws this up?

  12. The answer to all this is for the government be required to do only what the constitution allows. All departments that are not constitutionally mandated must be eliminated. We have watched as the feds took more and more power away from the people and the states. The feds get fatter and more powerful off of our taxes. It must be stopped.

  13. Hey, Markey!

The environmental terrorists ARE the EPA.

    You big dummy.

  14. Defund the EPA 100% and let them apply for funds for each the few useful things they do (if any).

  15. The Clean Air Act allows for the EPA to set standards on giving permits to companies but also allows the states to set the policies for enforcing those standards and granting permits. Not too long ago, the EPA decided that it was going to take over those proceedures and remove the state’s ability to grant permits and see to enforcement. This was done to 10 states (the most energy producing states). All but one rolled over. Instead, Texas sued the EPA and will not meet Lisa Jackson in federal court.

The actions of the EPA under this administration is nothing but a power grab. Plain and simple. If the Congress won’t pass Obama’s beloved “Cap and Tax” bill, Obama will do it through the back door.

With the moritorium on offshore drilling, Obama has already cost Texas 25,000 jobs. Now he wants to shut down energy producing plants. If you take a look at the states that the EPA is going after, every one of them is a red state that did not vote Obama in 2008.

Exactly. Just look at what’s going on right now in Texas with rolling blackouts. This is a result of Obama’s EPA taking control of power plants and refineries. See also:

    - Back in July 2008, a Superior Court judge in Fulton County blocked the construction of a coal plant in Georgia, citing global warming concerns and the need to limit CO2 emissions.

    - In January 2009, the Obama EPA blocked approval for a coal-fired power plant in South Dakota, claiming the state, “didn’t meet requirements under the Clean Air Act in part of its proposed permit for the plant.”

    - As Governor of Kansas, Obama’s current Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius slapped a de facto ban on the construction of all new coal-fired plants across the state.

    - Last month, Senators in Obama’s home state of Illinois blocked the construction of a clean-burning coal gasification and power generating plant.

    - As a result of the EPA’s recent remand of air permits, Shell Oil announced yesterday that it has “dropped plans to drill in the Arctic waters of the Beaufort Sea this year and will concentrate,” ensuring more shortgges and higher prices for Americans.

  19. They need to defund all these Grant diff. dept. give out.

  20. “If GOP Blocks The EPA, The Terrorists Win.”

The real terrorists are the Democrats in the House and Senate. They are trying to throw the whole of America under the bus.

  21. Shut them down.

  22. I read where they are cutting 1.6 billion from the EPA, and all I could say was “REALLY”? Why does the EPA need that much money? Really? And for how long (I know Nixon started it) have they been getting that much money to do a job that seriously, folks, we dont need.

There is more stinky, polluting, hot air smoke stack morons in the EPA than there are factories left in the United States! Thats why we have no jobs, no new plants, no new factories, and now we build nothing! Its right there Congress! Its the EPA!

Since they are hell bent on regulating carbon, they should be starting with themselves! The Blowhards are going to regulate a gas that they themselves emit! Somewhere there should be a smart, savvy lawyer that can clean that up!

Congress! Defund this out of existance!

  23. How is it a free country when government blocks your ability to access resources to survive comfortably and to make a living? That is not America. This woman is a nobody. She is another Weather Underground plant.

  24. On what do we base our economy, when we get rid of all our heavy industry?

On what doe we base our security?

  25. #17-”It very well may be that the only way out of this mess is SECESSION.”

    Ditto. Sooner the better.

  26. you’ve got to be kidding me……

  27. I am so glad that I support this man in his elections. Regretfully, I do not live in his district, but I gladly contribute to his campaigns.

  28. #25- Valerie

    Bingo.

Upon nothing. That is the intent.

  29. Lisa Jackson is reprehensible. As far as I’m concerned she should sit there for a month and be mercilessly grilled, for the vast and broad damage she and her far, far out-of-control agency are doing to our great country.

  30. If_____________then the terrorists win.

  31. What sort of job did she have before Obama gave her the EPA?
How much money did she bring in for his campaign?

I don’t understand how anyone with no experience can be appointed these jobs and then tank the American economy.

I think all these jobs should be elected then maybe the people will have more say then the government.

  32. Ok i found some information on her and its not pretty the best part is the article is from the Huff post.. I guess they did research at some point in their lives before being taken completely over by Sorass.

  33. “The EPA has a real job.” Doing What?
I can see where destroying private jobs in America might last for a few more months, but what are all those employees going to do after that?
Take away every penny they have, and charge all the higher ups with fraud!

  34. maybe this floated by already, but if the cbo is right and 800,000 jobs go up in smoke and you add it to every other job killer………
