Bummer. The AWOL Wisconsin democrats will no longer get paid through direct deposit.

They will have to pick up their checks in person on the Senate floor during a session.
The Green Bay Press Gazette reported:

Wisconsin state senators who miss two or more session days will no longer get paid through direct deposit. They’ll have to pick up their checks in person on the Senate floor during a session.

The new rule is aimed at forcing the return of 14 Senate Democrats who have been hiding in Illinois since Thursday. They fled the state to stall a vote on an anti-union bill, and have threatened to stay away until Republican Gov. Scott Walker agrees to compromise.

Tuesday’s vote was along party lines. The three Republicans on the Committee on Senate Organization voted for it and the two Democrats opposed it.

  1. Oh. It’s the Senate. My bad.

  2. And while you are at it, take away their credit card. Freeze the account. . and if they try to charge their hotel and travel done while fleeing, should be grounds for impeachment.

Start passing conservative laws to take advantage of the absence of these missing legislators.

  3. Worse than high school…

    Obamamerica- laughingstock of the world.

  4. Step right over here to accept your check and join the quorom. ROTFLMAO!

(Prediction: The maneuver, while brilliant, will fail because the Obama-Stern-Trumka union machine will cover it for the deserters.

  6. Help! Help! I’ve fallen and I can’t get up! This is the funniest thing I have heard in a long, long time!

  7. Nice!

  8. Separate everything out that doesn’t require a quorum and pass stuff like crazy, put the paychecks out on display on the Senate floor, and keep pointing out that thousands of people will be fired if the Dems don’t come back by Friday. People who get fired because the Dems are in hiding won’t be too sympathetic to them, and if all the non-quorum stuff is separated out and passed already the Dems don’t have any reason not to come back… so if they still stay away and cost people jobs, well, that’s on the Dems.

  9. Bravo WI Republicans! Well Played.

I hope Republicans elsewhere are paying attention. This is how you play in the big leagues.

  10. I’m sure these curs have $cash$ stashed from ‘pay offs’ to the extent that they could live without any sort of lifestyle change for years to come.

    BUT

The solution to the public employee’s union situation is simply to make it ILLEGAL for any public employee’s union to contribute to any politician (directly or indirectly — including ‘soft money’) who votes for their salary. The politicians don’t want to go THAT far, but that would solve the ‘soft bribe’/contributions that drive the machine.

  11. Very good. I hope they deduct non-paid “vacation” days.

  12. How did two Democrats votes against it?

  13. I have only seen this childishness one other time I can remember. The TX Democrats chartered a bus for OK to stop a vote for re-districting. It didn’t work then and it won’t work now. These Democrats think that elections are valid ONLY when THEY WIN. Grow up.

I come from a long line of Democrats and I’m telling you they will NEVER GET ME BACK. My father is turning in his grave to see what the DNC and Democrat Party has turned into. What a bunch of hypocritical men and women.

I heard a report of a single mom who could not go to her minimum wage work because her child did not have school. WHERE IS YOUR COMPASSION NOW DEMOCRATS. HYPOCRITES ALL.

  14. Lib State Legist. Officials methodology: Get elected, get direct deposit, go home drink colt 45, smoke opium, watch TV, sleep, do nothing, get paid, and life is good when you do not work and other pay your way. ;_ ::::

  15. #12 Ann –

There was another report of a woman who could not report to her first day of work on a new job because of the childcare issue. She lost the job – a horrendous blow in this economy!

  20. OH Granny is there a written article about it. I saw a TV segment on the one I spoke of. I’d love to have an article about the parent losing his/her job.

  21. What King Walker has decreed, let it be done. All hail the King! All must bow down before King Walker! He’ll cancel your checks, block internet sites, remove collective bargaining. At a former job he fired police and hired private security guards against all advice. Now the police will get their jobs back at great expense to Wisconsin. None of this matters. King Walker will not take no for an answer.

  22. There is Ann but I don’t remember where I read this right this minute and searching the history is not being helpful. Let me see if I can find it with Google.

  24. This is CLASSIC!! We’ll now really see if the Dems will “put their money where their mouth is”

    ROFLMAO !!!!!

  25. Pass the Right-to-work law and voter ID laws! Get it done NOW! why is there ANY delay on this?? Walker HAS to play hardball on this. If the situation was reversed, the Dems in the legislature would be KILLING us now. Why the nicey-nicey??

  26. They lost their direct deposit privileges? Why are they getting paid at all? They aren’t working!

  27. Thanks Granny I tried but no luck Rats

  28. #27 – so did I. And I’m just so tired tonight I simply do not remember where I read that this morning.

  29. I just sent the Senators another $100 to help with their expenses! I am so proud of them, this is just brilliant. Scotty (the DISASTER) Crawler tried this same crap in MKE and the courts crushed him. It is however VERY important that he be brought to heel. He haas done more damage in two months than I would have thought possible. The recall papers are already being prepared and I hear that there is a story ready to break that will drive him from office even before that! What great drama! POWER TO THE PEOPLE! (not the Kochs)

  30. NO problem Granny.

  31. Well, this should bring them running back…they would not want to lose one dime of their pricey salaries…they are pigs you know.

  32. POWER TO THE PEOPLE…DOWN WITH GREEDY POLITICIANS AND UNIONS!

  33. Awesome. Gov. Daniels needs to get right on this, too.

  34. Happy to say I was never impressed by Mitch Daniels. Yuck:

Daniels Says, Legislators Running Away Is A “Perfectly Legitimate Part Of The Process.”

  35. One of the greatest misfortunes for the progressive leadership is that they’ve only been able to enlist the least intellectually capable to serve as their proxy “masses.” Confused idiots like #29 “Larry” who see Koch conspiracies around every corner, talk of Illuminati mind control and think that Sarah Palin had a Lizard Baby are the norm for the muddle they’re forced to utilize. It’s particularly disgusting how incredibly poorly read they are, though remarkably funny that they don’t know how mocked they are behind their back as they parrot the usual talking points.

Consider this, “Larry” #29 (and the other progressive ilk that’s trolling here): The enemy your progressive leaders face is not some singular enemy like the Kochs. This hierarchical thinking is what plagued the stupid neocons in the Bush White House as they chased Osama and believed he was the root of the problem, when he was but a mere blade of grass (how’s Barry doing finding Osama? Oh, right… he’s still trapped in a wet paper sack Cheney left and tricked the poor novice President).

The tea party isn’t a Koch phenomenon; that a movement would have some billionaires associated with it, and that you’d find billionaires acting like billionaires, is akin to believing the Packers won the Super Bowl because Bill Gates was in an elite box throwing an extravagant party and rooting the Packers on.

Actually, you need to closely examine the very pronounced hierarchical institution your union and progressive government leaders constitute if you’re looking for a real hegemon. Blaming it on some politically interested billionaires not only gets the enemy of the globalist elites wrong, but it illustrates the conceptualization problem: to appropriate Chomsky, you’re framing this wrong, and the longer you continue the myth, the further you’ll fall. (It’s such a shame that so many well-meaning people who think they’re “Left” have been deluded by the fascist progressives, stealing and misrepresenting an important heritage descending from the confused but well-meaning Marx through more than century of theory, only to end up buying the same cheap, hollow, confused crap that the Italians, Spanish and German fascists and other morons like the Klan, the Progressive Eugenicists, and other faux-Left haters threw out to suck in the intellectually impaired dependent-types).

Consider this to challenge your frame: why would communists (real ones, not the capitalist ilk that wear Mao, Che or other faux radical fashion like the clown prince in the White House and his merry band of college dropouts) recognize the tea party for what it is: a rhizomic, function of multitude. Read your Antonio Negri and Felix Guattari “Communists Like Us.” Or Negri and Hardt’s Multitude. Deleuze and Guattari’s A Thousand Plateaus. Hell, even the old school commies in our travels like Badiou and Zizek get it: the tea party is a rhizomic, non-centered movement that occurred after the “last straw” broke, the moment crystallized and the movement arose. Oh, they certainly don’t see themselves as such and they don’t need to. While their self-arising political movement is a moment of political autopoiesis we haven’t seen since the mid-1800s, spreading across the globe now (with the natural concern for second revolutions by the progressive fascists as tends to occur), their arising is an autonomous cleansing that rids the multitude of the parasites that have started to kill the societal body.

As such, they don’t study the theory some of us true leftists are dedicated to (and they wouldn’t understand either that they’re the descendants of the leftist movement in the United States that began with the initial revolution). Like you, they’ve had their language manipulated by a clever coalition between the old guard of corrupt globalists and politicians. No conspiracy is needed here; corruption too arises to form its own brotherhood as Russia and China most recently attest.

The real fascists we face are the progressives, their corrupt state and their kleptocratic globalists. Soros is but one of them and the tea types spend too much time hating this deluded old pervert (curious how he’s managed to keep those stories out of the press all these years). The Russian oligarchs and the sickened, diseased, debt-laden governments around the globe that have racked up trillions in debt transfers used to finance their leveraged buyout of the people’s commons are what the multitude opposes — be it tea party, Tunisian, Egyptian, Libyan, Greek, Russian, Chinese or other citizen embracing an ethical being toward others.

If you’re capable of it, go find those books. I’d throw in The Coming Insurrection as well; few would suggest kinship between movements, but one should expect the expression of the arising of multitude to resonate to the culture it instantiates within. As such, Egyptian arisings will be predominantly Islamic, just as the Middle Class American arising (tea party) reflects protestant ethics of “hard work,” “honesty” and other artifacts of the nation’s original founding.

Strangely, anarchists, communists and libertarians around the world have figured out that to be a union or government employee, or a progressive, is to be a house servant to an epoch of criminality that we now must deal with. They understand the power of multitude and the ultimatum it has issued to the parasitic bureaucratic class: get in the way of the multitude and it won’t end well.

If you doubt me (which I strongly encourage), go read some of the above-mentioned texts before you subject yourself to mockery by intelligent, actual leftists. Go find out why all an entire spectrum of political orientations have figured out you’re the parasitic enablers for the kleptocratic disease that’s collapsing our societies. You’re an infestation of tapeworms to stupid to know its greed is killing off the host. Truly, to be a Democrat or a union employee today is to be an enemy of the people.

Make your choice, and hopefully, make it through knowledge and careful contemplation. The era of unaccountable anonymity and ambiguity is over.

  36. These senators should lose their jobs, what a joke

  37. An UPDATE from AceofSpades:

Update: The “courtesy” of letting fugitive lawbreakers vote by phone is being rescinded. At least they denied a Democrat the license to vote in committee.

The committee made significant changes to the bill in a meeting that included a bizarre element. Sen. Jon Erpenbach (D-Middleton) participated in the meeting by phone, but Sen. Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin), the committee chairwoman, refused to let him vote because he and the 13 other Senate Democrats left the state Thursday.
Senators routinely participate in committee meetings by phone and are allowed to debate, offer amendments and vote on measures. But Lazich said she wasn’t allowing Erpenbach to vote because he had an invalid reasons for being absent.

“I won’t extend courtesies for unethical behavior,” Lazich told Erpenbach.

“Do you want the headline to be, ‘Republicans won’t let Democrats vote,’ even though we’ve allowed that many, many times?” Erpenbach said.

Erpenbach’s name was not called as the clerk took the roll, but he repeatedly yelled, “No!” over the speakerphone. The committee’s three Republicans voted for the bill.

The bill could go before the Senate on Thursday, though leaders have not yet decided when they would vote on it.

  38. I’d prefer a public whipping, tar & feathers – but this will do for the present.

  39. Too funny! Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of Fleebaggers!

  40. Larry,

    You are just plain stupid.

  41. The Fleebagger 14 have lived in Chicago longer than Rahm did when he started running for mayor…I heard that 3 of them have become Chicago Bear fans….

  42. They should also have to report in for healthcare-related services, too. And franking privileges. And access to the phone system and any web-related content.

    Disable their state-provided logins.

Interrupt their state provided Blackberry service.

Don’t let them deduct their flight from responsibility as an expense.

  43. Paychecks, my @$$. Their pay should be docked.

  44. Indiana democrats are in Urbana, IL…from the video it looks like the Holiday INN on Lincoln ave maybe.
    http://illinoishomepage.net/fulltext/?nxd_id=220466

  45. The Demorat Senators should NOT be paid for ANY unauthorized absence!

That includes the recent holiday ( … they were AWOL days prior and subsequent ).

The AWOL Senators should ALL be CENSURED !!!

They should be recalled, suspended, ridiculed and REPLACED immediately.

Meanwhile, – … the Republican Senators should pass many bills in their own interests …

  46. Union greed has been bankrupting States for some time …. Looks like the gig is up.

  47. They should lay off all of the Senator’s staff and deny them U/E bene’s. Hey Dem’s, in the words of your dear leader, “We Won!” and “Elections have consequences” you little babies.
Wisconsin Rino’s, pass all bills now.

  48. There is a legal process called “mandamus” where a public official who refuses to do his official duty can be compelled by a court order to “front and center” (appear) and perform his obligatory duties.

If he still refuses, he is in contempt of court and can be incarcerated untill he does his duty and complies with the court order.

This is what should be done immediately in Wisconsin. There are also criminal statutes that make it a crime for a public servant to be deliberately direlict in his duty to perform his official duties. These Wisconsin bolsheviks (democrats) should be charged, arrested, and tried under these statutes.

  49. Fine. Let them go AWOL – do the same thing they would do to a soldier if he went AWOL for this long. Send them to Levenworth!

And if they get paid a PENNY for the time they are acting like a toddler about… I wouldn’t blae a soul for going Egypt on their @$$es.

  50. And I say levenworth because they ARE government property!! Just like they consider soldiers! PROPERTY.

Who are these @$$es working for?!

  51. They should not receive any checks.
