Yeah… They’re a serious bunch.
Democrats play the life-sized puppet card.

During the press conference Rep. Markey coaxed shy Arthur the Aardvark up to the podium to stand with them during their protest against GOP spending cuts.

Rep. Earl Blumenauer was joined by Reps. Ed Markey, Betty McCollum, Nita Lowey, Sam Farr, Paul Tonko and Bill Owens, as well as popular PBS children’s character Arthur, in announcing efforts to oppose House Republican attempts to cut funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting in the Continuing Resolution.

UPDATE: Senator Jim DeMint added:

Last year, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting was allocated $420 million by Congress. And, President Obama is asking Congress to give a whopping $451 million to CPB in his new budget, even though the nation is more than $14 trillion in debt.

To put that in perspective, it would take Count Von Count more than 42 years to count the 451 million, one “Ah! Ah! Ah!” dollar at a time.

True. Ah! Ah! Ah!

  1. Wow. That is a new low. And really bizzarre.

  2. What a bunch of freaking jackasses.

  3. Just when I think they can’t go any lower.

  4. Well, they are the puppets of extremist leftist groups….how fitting!

  5. Ironically, PBS makes millions from the licensing royalties from those characters, but they still feel the need to beg for tax money.

  6. A new low Jim is you getting on board the Debbie Schlussel train. This wackjob is so nuts, nobody will book her on TV anymore and you confidently stride into her inhuman shot at Lara Logan. I hate the Lib Media as much as the next guy but pal, you’re headed out where the buses don’t run anymore. You’re a plant, you’re a fake, troll….No, I’m a fu*king Conservative and you’re jumping the shark.

  7. Darn good reason the pull the plug on all the PBS and NPR tax payer funding. Let them go ahead and see which programs earn sponsorship.

  8. The sicko left used that pervert Mr Rogers to brainwash an entire generation of children to accept the transformation of our neighborhood into a Nanny State. We are in this problem today because of TV channels like PBS… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAvVwE1CT6w&feature=related

  9. What a gaggle of morons! Defund the propaganda, let the left fund NPR!

  10. It is all about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

  11. #6 Aaron commented:

Sure you are. Only Gus has a mouth like that.

    your just a poser.

powder is dry, cook big bird I want a leg.

  12. “everyone must sacrifice, everyone must have skin in the game” …now who said that?

Sorry, PBS and NPR used to be of value, but in this time of need….NO! Plus, they are proven bastions of liberalness and hypocrites, when they are supposed to be objective. This was proven not only with the firing of Juan Williams, but also with that crazy nutjob hateful liberal NPR producer who wanted Rush to have a heart attack, as well as the very very biased Gwen Ifill, a very poor journalist.

I guarantee you…if PBS goes away, Sesame street and Mister Rogers will appear on Nikolodeon and Disney…..yay for capitalism…supply and demand!

  13. What are they smoking?

  14. ++

keep telling you, they don’t want us, they want our children.. :-(

    ==

  15. The defunding of the lefts pets is what will make them go goofy (er).

Might I even say violent, well more than normal.

powder is dry, death to elmo he’s creepy.

  16. All in all… the heads at PBS said the federal money was but a pittance..and not really needed. Okay… Nuff said. Now shut up!

  17. “All in all… the heads at PBS said the federal money was but a pittance..and not really needed. Okay… Nuff said. Now shut up!”

Yet they are calling press conferences showing Bert and Ernie getting pink slips. Hmmm…..if it wasn’t needed, there shouldn’t be a big deal about cutting off the funds, right?

  18. ++

wait a few years, the muppets will be converting to Islam..

and everyone will be kneeling 5 times a day facing Mecca (or
the Ground Zero Mosque) on Sesame Street, i am not kidding..

now that they are freeing themselves, they
pack up their Sharia and go back to home..

    ==

  19. If you don’t write your congressional representative insisting on defunding these leftist hacks, you are shirking your duties. Raise a stink!

  20. I remember Daschle and Gephardt showing up with a muffler to try to prove some point about how this was all tax cuts would allow po folks to buy. You gotta admit Arther is better.Anyway, don’t defund NPR, just get Rush Limbaugh public money for his show.

  21. but, but if you defund NPR it will go the way of Air America. travesty, i tell ya, complete travesty.

  22. It is sickening how the left whackos use children as pawns. They could give an eff about kids.
Defund PBS & NPR.Then go to Dept of Ed,then the perverted school czar Kevin Jennings who wants to teach sick bizzare acts to children, see http: massresistance.org for his background. He should not be anywhere near a school or a child.

  23. The libs have to do sh*t like this because they have nothing else.

  24. #21 kansas,
We all know Rush does not need, nor want public money…
but it would certainly make many leftist’s heads explode.

  25. I’d say the Dems are Mickey Mouse,
but at least Disney is free market.

  26. have you notice that for the last two years if you want to know what side of an issue the democratic party is on, just ask what do the majority of the people want and the democrats will be on the opposite side. it must be that new form of democracy minority rule.

  27. The Democrats look miserable but Arthur looks happy. I’m thinking he’s for defunding PBS too.

  28. Libs are all about stunts and stirring emotions. So was Goebbels.

  29. Militant Conservative. Thanks for the props.
    Powder is dry my friend.

  30. I am glad the TEA party has the commies scared such that they are hugging their red Elmo bears in public. Some friendly advice. When your opponents have a daily talking point about the need for adult decisions, don’t pose yourself with giant puppets. When people believe politicians are owned by special interest groups, it is not a good idea to be seen with puppets. Finally, if you have to appear with a giant puppet…never wear a bow tie.

  31. This is the joke administration, nightmare actually.

  32. Donh, the LIBTARDS are saying what they think. They dont’ realize what they look like.

  33. Another edition of DC Puppets

  34. Presser With Life-Sized Puppets.

    …………………………………………………………….

Well why not, I mean they put one in the White House, seems to be a match made in hell.

  35. Jim DeMint got his pop culture reference RIGHT!

  36. Screw these a##holes… Defund PBS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  37. oh, poor arthur has to go stand in line with the red head in the unemployment line. i thought the cartoon character was colbert, but i guess the Dems had to find a more serious character for this battle.

  38. This is hilarious, considering Palin and her Fox”News” masters pull all of your puppet strings on a daily basis.

  39. Airon?? Dimbulb LIBTARDS like you are a dime a dozen. When FACTS are SLAMMED INTO YOUR indoctrinated/Propogandized GAPING MAWS, silly sheep, like you AIRON, have no LOGICAL RETORTS. You slither to the lamest of the lame. You piss all over yourself with references to PALIN and/or FOX. I understand your pathetic ignorance AIRON. You have no rejoinder. NONE. You are a clown. A LIBTARD follow-job. You believe the PAP, that has been forced down your throat. WILLINGLY.
Sorry Son. You are a loser sheep.

  40. When NPR fired Juan Williams they said that they received only 4% of their money from Taxpayer funding and the loss of that funding would make little difference. Now that the reality of loosing almost a half billion dollars has come home they whine and call out Burt and Ernie. Time for some pledge drives guys. let people give their money voluntarily if the want to. Teachers will have to get back to work and teach instead of having the class watch television.

  41. OK Repubs ………………. we sent you in there to clean up ……………….. don’t be getting all “weak-kneed” and such ………………. do your jobs you were sent to do.

  42. GRU57. I have never called myself, nor considered myself, a REPUBLICAN. We need LEADERS.
Conservative leaders with values and principles.
John McCain, (praise be unto him) is a lifelong COUNTRY CLUB REPUBLICAN.
John McCain doesn’t even recognize who RUSS FEINGOLD is/WAS.
If John McCain BELIEVES that RUSS FEINGOLD, was a FRIEND and WORTHY U.S. SENATOR. ……well….then……WE HAVE A PROBLEM.
Folks. If John McCain COULD NOT RECOGNIZE…..Barry Obama, KICKING MCCAIN in the balls????????????????????
    Then we have a PROBLEM.
John McCain was the REPUBLICAN NOMINEE 2 plus years ago. IS JOHN McCAIN, PART OF OUR SOLUTION???????????????????????????????
    No. He is not.
But. John McCain, WAS, the REPUBLICAN PARTY’S ANSWER to OBAMA.
    Think about that.
OBAMA has ZERO respect for anything other than his own MARXIST PHILOSOPHY.
    McCAIN called Obama his FRIEND.

If you consider yourself REPUBLICAN. Ask yourself WHY?? Ask yourself HOW, you’ve allowed this RAPE of our country to occur.

Lastly, IF you don’t see OBAMA for WHO and WHAT HE IS………..NOW….AFTER 2 FULL YEARS………………………

You are a fool. A fool.

  43. wow… the smart on in the group is the 16 year old in a Arthur Suit

    Bwahahahahahahahah

    roflmao

  44. That’s not a life-size puppet; that’s Al Franken. Easy mistake to make.

  45. And they get paid a half a million per year for this part time job and their utter stupidity? Donald Duck could do better than that. Who do they think they are talking too? Children? I guess they are so drugged up and hung over they have zero ideas. Not a one idea left between them. Utterly hopeless is this bunch of fools. What the hell are they trying to do anyway? :?:
    “~~~<<<<>>>~~~“

  46. John McCain is a closet Dem like his daughter is and he is a long time member of the Council of Foreign Relations who is owned by Rockefellers and NWO. Open your eyes peeps. Just because they tout the (R) after their name doesn’t mean shat. You know that. The (D) means shat too. They are a selfish breed unto their own selves. They are the NWO. The party thing is so you’ll be kept distracted. WAKE UP!

  47. It’s official. A handful of Marxist puppets have lost their minds as seen now playing wth stuffed animals in public.

  48. How much money have Sesame Street, Bill Moyer, or Arthur repaid to the taxpayer from their millions in product earnings?

  49. But the democraps last year said NPR only gets a pittance from the feds, so how could the cutting of CPB funding affect these programs at all? Also, if you have successful programs, would you cut them if you receive a budget cut, or use them to obtain funding from alternate sources? Further, the programs at issue are self funding and rake it ginormous revenues. So they would survive no matter what, or could find alternative homes on other networks or on cable, if best came to best and CPB went belly up.

  50. Yet one more example of the Left’s/Dem’s projection —

Soros puppets using NPR puppets to protest having their free lunch-at-the-trough tickets revoked.

I suppose next they’ll be wanting some free government cheese togo along with that whine!

  51. Didn’t those puppets vote for Markey?

  52. I watched this idiot on CSpan get up and turn the loss of public funds into a Republican diss of women, children, and the American Way. Literally the only thing missing from his impassioned speech was the apple pie. I actually laughed out loud. Debbie Wasserman Schultz used practically the same speech about Title X (public funding of abortion).

Sheila Jackson Lee also used that poster in her speech on the subject (equally as bizarre, as you can imagine).

Watching them is often highly amusing – and enlightening. I highly recommend it.

  53. This really is nothing new. The Democrat clowns pull out Big Bird and other muppets every time the GOP even thinks about cutting funding for PBS and NPR. Been going on since the early ’90s.

If the PBS and NPR brands are so “necessary,” then they should be able to stand on their own. As someone else mentioned, CPB gets millions annually from licensing characters. Surely there is an established market for Bert & Ernie and company.

I like Sesame Street. But if my tax dollars are going to pay for that, then I want a slice of the royalties. After all, my taxes technically make me a shareholder.

(I’m kidding, but it would be fun for some GOPer to say this from the floor of the House or Senate.)

  54. Gee, I’m having a hard time telling the muppet from the politician…
    bwaaa-haa-haa…
and we’re supposed to take you clowns seriously….seriously?

  55. #41 gus

I knew you were nothing but a puppet. You see how I made you dance at the mere mention of Sister Sarah’s name.

  56. Make Believe Media using a make believe constituency.

  57. Forcing you the taxpayer, to pay for their propaganda props up their egos. Soros just paid for 100 more public broadcasting employees.

  58. Mickey and Minnie mouse were in court to file for a divorce..When the judge asked Mickey on why he wanted the divorce ? Mickey replied that she was f***ing Goofy !
Just like the polititians and their puppet friends in this picture………

  60. This won’t work anymore. DEFUND THEM, THE EPA, DEPARTMENT OF NO ENERGY, DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION(This was created by Carter to spread communism.)

  61. bg,
Is this why former President Herbert Walker Bush received the “Medal of Honor,” from Hussein the other day? He is part of this group. It was smarmy to watch. It was tainted. I don’t even trust GWB any more. He defied the people with TARP and GM unions. Was this intentional because he was invested somewhere and would have lost a lot of money?

  62. #63

Oh, oh, oh………..look whom bg is referencing – a Truther website. Typical, as the modern American Right has more in common with 9/11 conspiracy theorists as the days pass.

And I so do love the context free quotations that follow the laughably constructed thesis from Alex Jones’ InfoWars site.

But thanks for playing. I’m sure you’ll get bonus points from all the mouth-agape droogies that buy into such nonsensical pablum.

  63. Here is a wonderful response from Senator Jim DeMint. I wish he would run for President.
    DeMint goes after “Muppet Lobby”

As you may know, the republicans are finally taking seriously the denying of public funds to PBS and NPR. It’s about time. These companies can get private funders and leave our pocketbooks and wallets some relief. The American public should not have their hard-working dollars go to fund these operations which can flourish in the private market.

Sorry Big Bird. Get your Hollywood and corporate friends to support your stations. Today democrats appeared on Capitol Hill with characters from PBS stations to promote continued funding, as Politico reports.

So how much money is going in to PBS?

Last year, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting was funded with $420 million by Congress. And for this year, President Obama is asking Congress for $451 million (!!) while we’re trillions of dollars in debt.

DeMint said in this brilliant press release:

The Muppets are in town. No, not for a show. They are in Washington to do business.

Inside the Beltway, Sesame Street turns into K Street and Elmo is a lobbyist…

Make no mistake, public broadcasting’s furry friends are political animals.

Elmo has been particularly busy. Elmo has testified before Congress about the need for more funding for the arts and participated in other press conferences to increase spending on public broadcasting. Elmo even went on the lecture circuit last year with Federal Communications Chairman Julius Genochowski to promote government-funded broadband Internet.

At this rate, Americans can expect Big Bird to start filming commercials to hype ObamaCare. If the FCC can borrow Elmo from PBS to build support for their plans, what’s to stop the Department of Health and Human Services from feeding Big Bird some lines?

It’s time to draw a clear distinction between the government and entertainment. Democrats shouldn’t cast our children’s most beloved creatures as characters for their big-government, big-spending causes…

Shows like Sesame Street are multi-million dollar enterprises capable of thriving in the private market. According to the 990 tax form all nonprofits are required to file, Sesame Workshop President and CEO Gary Knell received $956,513 — nearly a million dollars — in compensation in 2008. And, from 2003 to 2006, “Sesame Street” made more than $211 million from toy and consumer product sales.

When taxpayer funding for public broadcasting ends, rest assured, Cookie Monster will still be fed.

Saving the country from crushing debt and taxes is going to require hard choices. Telling the Muppet lobby “no” shouldn’t be one of them.

  64. Barney Frank was there but you can’t see him in the picture. He’s showing Arthur what “teabagger” means.

  65. Congratulations to these representatives for their ingenuity. They have managed to make themselves look more ridiculous than they ever before have, and the collective amount of brain cells is displayed above. My guess? Seventy-eight, and that’s being generous. Oh – and let’s not forget the shameless exhibition of the use of children’s educational puppets (not that these idiots will learn anything) to make what they think is a point.
Not their fault, though; I heard they all just got off the bipolar express.
