Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN) introduced legislation yesterday to defund Planned Parenthood.

Jill Stanek reported:

Today, Congressman Mike Pence introduced our 2nd bill, the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act, which would cut off Title X funding to organizations that commit abortion.

The most obvious target is Planned Parenthood, which Congressman Pence spotlighted in his statement:

It is morally wrong to end an unborn human life by abortion.  It is also morally wrong to take the taxpayer dollars of millions of pro-life Americans and use them to promote abortion at home or abroad.

Last year, Planned Parenthood received more than $363 million in revenue from government grants and contracts.  During that same time, they performed an unprecedented 324,008 abortions.

The largest abortion provider in America should not also be the largest recipient of federal funding under Title X.

The Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act will prevent any family planning funds under Title X from going to Planned Parenthood or other organizations that perform abortions.  It will ensure that abortion providers are not being subsidized with federal tax dollars.

I am grateful for the support of more than 122 original co-sponsors….

  1. Go get em, Rep. Pence! Our money to fund abortion here in the US and worldwide is obnixous at best. Let’s go back to morality in this Country!

  2. I would go along with Mr. Pence’s de-funding Planned Parenthood if he would de-fund something that also kills myriad beings and fosters morally wrong action: The Defense Industry.

    Martini is dry.

  3. The Left: claiming noxious so-called “rights” that are expressly designed with forcing other people pay for them. Planned Parenthood seems to be in the business of planning subsidized singleparent households on the one hand and abortion on the other – seemingly opposites, but in fact an evil tyranny on responsible people and families who are forced to pay for both. It should be called, “Planned Welfare Parenthood.”

  4. echo, (too many Martini’s – dry or otherwise.)

Defense is a legitimate obligation of Government funding. Abortion, and by extention, funding for that service, is not.

    Hammer cocked. Power dry.

  5. Well said, Steve. I wonder what these people who seem to hate the military think would happen if we did not have these brave young men and women protecting us? Some people just don’t understand this world at all.

  6. Dems and the Martini drinker are cowards. They leave the Defense of our Country to the R’s and the traitors like Manley to the D’s. I certainly do not agree with the wars we are conducting now but since we’re in it, WIN IT.

    ……….

Put your ass where your mouth is and go live in Darfur and see how fast you yearn for a credible “defense industry.”

  8. Hey echo,
Why don’t you chug-a-lug your martini, throw the glass into the fireplace, gather the shards, and stuff them piece-meal up your a**, slowly.
Then realize that pain you feel is retribution for trolling a discussion board where you’re input is neither necessary nor wanted.

  9. I understand the reasoning, but I don’t think the GOP really grasps what this represents to Liberals – this isn’t being delicate, for the Progressive Left, this gesture will spark a war in their eyes.

The attachment, and symbolism of Planned Parenthood is at an irrational level…

…..this should have been done much further down the road. What a mistake.

  10. The federal government has no business funding that organization, even without the abortion controversy.

  11. Now we’re talkin’. Go for it, Pence. No way should American tax-dollars — through the funding of PP — be used to murder unborn children.

  12. I like Mike.

  13. Estimates are that approximately FORTY MILLION AMERICANS have been murdered via the abortion industry in this country. That might be a little high, perhaps it was only THIRTY MILLION. Not only were they murdered, but their off-spring were also executed by proxy – dead people don’t have babies. It’s no stretch of the imagination that entire families and households are gone because of this moral decision to kill the weakest amongst us, for the convenience of the mother.

Words have meaning. Replace the word convenience with ‘Right’; replace the word baby with ‘fetal tissue’; replace the phrase slaughterhouse with ‘Womens Clinic’; replace the word genocide with ‘Planned Parenthood’; replace the word murder with ‘abortion’; etc. Anything is possible when the words are manipulated outside their common sense meanings – make everything hypothetical and theoretical without looking at the reality of the results, and anything becomes possible. Oh, and remove all sense of responsibility or self-accountability – just blame it on everyone else.

    “Arbeit macht frei” (1940 – 1945)

    Free Love! (1960 – 1975)

    Hope & Change (2008 – ?)

  14. ert: “further down the road.”

As in Never? When, exactly, then? It’s been since 1973 that Roe has drenched this country in the blood of innocent children because the right was gutless in standing up to the murderous progressives, progressives whose specialty is lies and deceit, dissembling, distorting, and sugar-coating their real goals. If Roe didn’t tell America what so-called progressives are capable of, what exactly would?

  15. Good for Mike Pence. People should also remember that there are organizations who take donations who distribute monies to Planned Parenthood. The butchering of the unborn is nothing short of evil.
