Devastating… Frank Luntz Focus Group Dumps On Obama’s “Flat” SOTU Address (Video)

Frank Luntz’s focus group gave Obama failing marks on this State of the Union Address tonight. The Atlanta focus group agreed that the nation was not out of its recession.
They thought the speech was flat.
They also didn’t trust Obama at all on cutting the deficit… Maybe because he talked about increasing spending out of the other side of his mouth at the same time?
This was devastating.
Only 7 of 13 Obama ’08 voters said they would vote for him now.
That’s gotta hurt.

Yes it was really bad. SEVEN people in a group of around 30 said they would vote to give him a 2nd term. But I fear that even if he is voted out, the damage has been done. Republicans don’t seem willing to go to war. Even Michelle Bachmann was way too polite and cheerful. There is nothing to be cheerful about.

First good news I’ve seen tonight. Obama was awful. The Republican response was weak, and even Bachmann’s was not much better.
Where’s the beef? The only beef I’ve seen out there is the RSG’s proposal to cut 2.5 Trillion over ten years. Imperfect, but at least a reasonable start. It’s too bad this wasn’t even mentioned in the responses.
At least it seems we can gain some encouragement from Luntz’s finding that people aren’t falling for Obama’s BS.

I watched Michelle B and Paul R speech and refused to watch the BO. I have the pulse of the Americans, I’ve worked in mortgage collection and talked to all types of employed and unemployed people. The small business people are not going to hire due to uncertainty of US economy, the too much gov’t. spending, now they are worried about the high gov’t. debts, inflation and too much bureaucracy, the small business owners who have money are holding their $$$$ for reserve, what I heard from these business owners that they will lay low, chill out, not hiring while Obama still the president. Then, the unemployed exausted all there options, zero’d out their savings, house is in foreclosure or about to be foreclosed and still unable to find a job. HAMP (mortgage modification) is not helping a lot of people, it’s only delaying the inevitable, foreclosure. I walked out of the job three months ago due to stress, the pay is good but it is not worth it.

On paper, the speech looked like it had some potential…however, BHO could not deliver it…he did not get the voters msg in Nov…cut all spending…a freeze in spending for five years…yet all he could talk about was more “investments”…code word for spending…High Speed rail will not get us anything…and the close line to sell rail is avoiding TSA body searches…not much sizzle there…WHERE IS THE BEEF!!!

This speech tonite didn’t even make sense most of the time…he just rambled from one subject to another…talked big about new ideas and innovation, but hadn’t a clue what a new innovation might be other than the greenie weenie agenda, which goes nowhere for Americans…even the freaking wind turbines are made in China! And I don’t see THOUSANDS of houses around me being fitted with new solar shingles! What’s with THAT? If they’re so wonderful and they work, and they’re affordable, how come they’re not on EVERY SHELF?
A spending freeze is NOT a spending cut. We need cuts! We need about half the agencies in DC shut down and out of our hair! EPA, DOE, need to be gone. Transportation taken back to Federal Highways and get it out of public enterprise.
You didn’t hear him say ONE THING that can be cut except the 1099′s in the death care bill, which never made sense in the first place. He never mentioned any of the new taxes in the death care bill, like the home sales tax…not a word on getting rid of that…
The whole thing seemed like a dud with every word turning into a thud!

He will be re-elected no matter what happens. I’m sure you all heard that on CBS, their “instant poll” showed 82% of Americans approved of Obama’s Economic Policies from the speech.
The poll? 44% Democrats, 25% Republicans. They only missed reality by 20 points or so. The topline number of the poll said 92% approved of the speech overall. 92% of people don’t agree a rabbi is jewish.

Notice that when Luntz asked the “do you trust Obama” questions, the only people who put their hands up were black? Very telling.
Small business owner here. I’ve suffered tremendously over the past 2 years. My only focus as been making sure that I lost as few of my employees as possible. I haven’t even focused on my own finances, my head’s been just above water the whole time and I’ve hardly managed to save a penny.
And it costs me greatly to employ people. Payroll taxes are brutal. I have been THIS close to throwing the towel in, every time I figure out how much of my meager profits are absorbed by the payroll. These taxes are stopping my expansion. It’s just too much of a risk for me to take on any more employees what with my payroll liabilities. Nothing the Democrats have done have instilled any kind of confidence in me as a business owner, nor have they instilled any confidence in my customers, who continue to deliver me a constant stream of bad news as they inform me that they’re “cutting back.”
I despise these Democrat b@stards. I don’t care if that’s “lowering the tone.” Running a small business in New York is stressful at the best of times – since Obama became president it’s been a brutal experience. When he was elected, I told myself that I don’t care who fixes things, as long as they fix them. I’ve completely lost all confidence in this administration since then. I would rather they did nothing than something, because that something will ALWAYS be bad for the economy.

Jason, I did notice that the only ones who said they trust Obama and will vote to re-elect him in 2012 were all black. They’ll vote for him no matter what, although it was heartening to see that one black guy who wasn’t falling for BO’s BS anymore. Let’s face it, BO has 99% of the black vote, and he’ll probably get 75% of the hispanic vote, too. I didn’t watch the speech last night. These group are diappointed in Obama’s SOTU Address because they voted for Obama two years. They wanted him to create more jobs and cut taxes. If Obama doesn’t get things turn around until 2012, he will lose the election. We will have a Republican in the White House. It won’t be Romney, Huckabee, and Palin. I don’t believe in polls because my home state of NC said other day, that Obama is doing a good job as high approval rating. It because they gave him a good rating when he made the speech in Arizona last week. It just doesn’t added up right. It is the liberal mainstream news media and the liberal polls companies. Obama will lose NC in 2012. Former Pres. George W. Bush’s SOTU Address speech was better.

However if he did offer up his high speed rail boondoggle again it just goes to show you how tone deaf he is. Billions and billions of taxpayer dollars for a ‘service’ which will only benefit a fraction of the populace, take decades to build and will likely be used to favor politically-connected unions and ‘crony capitalists’ (ie: campaign contributors). I was in the Luntz focus group. I was the one who remarked on Ryan saying what many Americans I speak with feel. We need a president (who is supposed to represent US) who will take on getting our jobs back (flat, fair tax, stop giving tax credits for outsourcing, taxes on imports, no more letting countries like China who owns $900 billion in US bonds and use it to blackmail us into keeping their currency lower than our dollar so we cannot compete, guard our borders (which according to a source very close to me are “wide open” even 10 years after 9/11), end illegal immigration (please look up the meaning of “illegal” in the dictionary) etc.
I was a target of a website where I was called a “tea bagger” (um no), a FOX freak (I don’t watch tv at all), and one comment mentioned something about rolling our skewed group together and slitting out throats. By the way, Frank Luntz is an arrogant, egotistical, rude jerk who insulted me and I walked off. I am on a fixed income and drive a 14 year old car. I’m just a real American (baby boomer) who is sadly watching America spiraling downward due to bad leadership, cronyism and corporate greed.
