Unbelievable. The Obama Administration knew that Manuel Zelaya was an anti-democratic anti-Semitic pig whose goal was to become ruler for life like his buddy Hugo Chavez. But, Team Obama decided to support him for the greater good of Latin American relations. Barack Obama even cut off aid to Honduras in order to appease tyrant Hugo Chavez.

Birds of a feather…

(Michael Ramirez)
The news that President Obama cut off aid to American ally Honduras did not make many headlines. Barack Obama openly sided with Marxists Raul Castro, Hugo Chavez and Daniel Ortega in punishing the government of Honduras.

The Wall Street Journal reported, via Weasel Zippers:

Lots of hypotheses have been floated to explain why the Obama administration went to such extremes last year to try to force Honduras to reinstate deposed president Manuel Zelaya.

Now the release of two WikiLeaked cables from the U.S. embassy in Tegucigalpa strengthens one of those theories: that the U.S. knew Mr. Zelaya was a threat to democratic Honduras but had decided the country should tolerate his constitutional violations in the interest of realpolitik.

Practically speaking, Hugo Chávez was the man to please. After a decade in power, the president of Venezuela’s influence around the region was notable. George W. Bush had clashed with him. Barack Obama was out to prove that they could get along, as evidenced by the warm handshake at the Summit of the Americas in Port of Spain in April 2009.

Honduras offered a bonding opportunity. Mr. Zelaya was a protégé of Mr. Chávez. Standing up for him as democratically elected was a way to score points with Latin America’s hard left.

But Honduras wasn’t willing to play the sacrificial lamb. When its other branches of government removed him from office last year, it caught Hugo Llorens, the U.S. ambassador, flat-footed. Saving face became the top priority.

Mr. Ford’s cable, written as he was turning his post over to Mr. Llorens after a three-year assignment in Tegucigalpa, supports this premise.

Instead of supporting Honduras Obama officials compared the interim leader to Napoleon. But, despite their work, the Obama Administration failed to prop the Chavez lackey Manuel Zelaya back into power.

  1. The cartoonist above missed out the hammer and sickle on Obama.

  2. Smart power. Hope and Change. Govt transparency.

Maybe this Wikileaks might be a good thing for 1012.

  3. Hillary is behind this too.

  4. Many more revelations like this and I’ll believe that Assange should be awarded a medal for his efforts.

  5. Jim, as much as I like RightNetwork, you’ve kicked the tires and driven it around the block and it appears to be a clunker.

Either that, or you may need to have an expert come and evaluate your scripts (all 20 or so of them) and figure out which are slowing this site down to a crawl that makes FirstThings seem blazing fast.

  6. No surprise here, the Koffee Klatch Kids stick together, bow to each other, give each other secret handshakes, loving nods and coded glances…

  7. I’ve disallowed (in NoScript, a plugin for firefox) the following scripts:

    Google Analytics
    Facebook
    ContextWeb
    Doubleclick
    Twitter
    GoogleSyndication
    FBCDN
    and GoogleAPIs.

Still seems like a site that’s under a DDOS attack.

Refreshing my cache is a nobrainer, which I do every time I shut off my browser.

The only scripts I have yet to disable:

    SiteMeter
    GoogleAdServices
    SpecificClick
    Blogads

It seemed to go a tiny bit faster when I turned off the Facebook and FBCDN scripts, but only marginally. Half the time I have to wait and come back in another hour. Like the old BBS days when your favorite BBS had one telephone line.

  8. #8 Taq – I’m not having any problems with the site on a Mac. I would suggest that you download and install Spybot Search & Destroy from Safer-networking, install it, update it and fix whatever is slowing you down. It finds 100K+ worms, dialers, phone home cookies and so forth. Wouldn’t have a PC without it. Free – though he would appreciate a donation.

  9. I’m shocked. Shocked!, to find that the godling Obama the eager little puppy was trying to score points with that pinapple head Chavez the Big Dog.

  10. Granny, I use SSD quite frequently. I even keep it (and a few other good cleaners, such as CCleaner, O&O Defrag, and more) on a thumbdrive so I can clean other, less tech-savvy folks’ computers with it.

My PC is cleaner than my kitchen sink.

Okay, maybe not the best analogy.

    :D

  11. It’s easy to know what the right thing is, it’s opposite of the piece of garbage Obama’s will.

  12. I really should give Spybot (and JIM) a donation.

    Very valuable services, both.

I’ve not run SSD in a few months, I use Firefox+Noscript, so it very rarely finds anything anyway. But I may do so before I go to bed tonight. Thanks for the reminder, Granny!

  13. This explains why Hussain wanted to take AF-1 to Venezuela..

  14. Obama isn’t constitutionally eligible to hold Office, and where does he hang his hat at night? Is it any wonder who Obama supported and why.

  15. Jim, I hope other folks donate to your fund. I do my part to spread the word about GP.

I’m a dishwasher and a handyman. Not a lot to give except advertisement. No car. No cable. Apartment-dweller. No 401k. No health insurance.

Feeling guilty, still, at this time of year.

  16. It’s scary when one realizes that so many Americans were taken in by this left-wing blowhard. I never thought for a second that Obama would lead from the center.

That is, if “lead” is the right word. Obama has been nothing but a flunkie for left-wing and union agendas. His main commitment seems to be transferring as much wealth as possible to the perpetual parasites in this country. Hence, the 90+ percent approval rating from that demographic.

  17. obama is a marxist just like his buddies. plenty of people said this before the 2008 election. the voters decieded to believe american tass instead. nothing obama does should come as a surprise.
