Tom Friedman & NY Times Editors Ambush & Attack Israeli Diplomat

Disgusting. Columnist and communist China supporter Tom Friedman and the anti-Israel editors of The New York Times ambushed a top Israeli diplomat telling him they were sick of his racist country.
Israel Today reported, via Israel Matsav:
The New York Times, flagship of the liberal American media, has never been a friend of the Jewish state. But the newspaper’s aversion to Israel turned to open hostility this month when its top editors ambushed and tore into an unsuspecting senior official from the Israeli Consulate in New York City.
The Israeli official was invited by the Times editors, among them rabid columnist Thomas Friedman, to meet with them at their office. Being a veteran at dealing with the American media, the official assumed the invitation was for a friendly discussion and perhaps an interview regarding the peace process and other matters of importance to Israel.
The Israeli had no idea he was being invited for what he described as a lynch.As the meeting started, the Times editors – most of them Jews, and one of them a former Israeli – began to attack the Israeli diplomat, and refused to give him even a moment to respond.
They blamed Israel for everything, the diplomat told Israel Today.
The Times editors insisted the breakdown of the peace process was Israel’s fault, that the lack of peace was Israel’s fault, and were adamant that Israel had given nothing to the Palestinians. They accused Israel of being an extremist and racist state, and blasted the diplomat for Israel’s “ill-treatment” of President Barack Obama.
In short, the Times staff informed the Israeli in no uncertain terms that they were sick of his country.
The diplomat told us he was shocked by the attack. He tried to respond, but the Times editors were not interested in hearing his arguments.

These clowns didn’t pull this stunt just to vent. And it was reported by the Israeli diplomat himself. Suppose he had chosen not to speak of it? Would anyone have known?
I think this is curious. Maybe one of you folks can clear up the purpose of this outrage. It’s probably obvious to someone more knowledgeable than I am.

Likud is in power in Israel, and to the folks at the Times, Likud=Republican, because they see the Israeli political battles between Likud and Labor as simply a surrogate battle between Republicans and Democrats in the United States.
Just remember that and it’s far easier to understand why the Times editorial board would ambush an Israeli diplomat like that. To them, it was the equivalent of having a Bush Administration official come into the office a few years ago and getting the chance to rake them over the coals about the horrific conditions at Gitmo, which of course in their minds will be immediately shuttered once a Democrat gets onto office.

There probably was some political motivation in the Times, cheap grandstanding comes to mind, or maybe the Turkey flotilla ship business fizzled and it wasn’t supposed to, given all the Lefties who participated, but as for the ambush, I’ve been attacked by two different Liberals on different occasions who went totally postal on me. It’s stunning, really because it’s totally out of proportion to ANYTHING being discussed, so you’re standing there getting assaulted and your brain is saying, “This is nonsense! Where did THIS come from? Why do they think they can totally freak like this? DO they have any concept of what they LOOK like?” Mind you, it’s the ironic, upper middle class, well-heeled ‘war is not the answer’ “give peace a chance” wine glass and cheese crowd and they’re purple-faced, clenched fists, spitting, “You have ATTITUDE!!”
So, you sit there saying not much, then walk out, and then wish the rest of the week you’d punched them for some satisfaction or at the least had the presence of mind to flip on the cellphone video cam for proof, ’cause no one will believe it, because those people are SO respected and have SUCH a wonderful reputation!!! Gahh!

Well, look at it this way, if your family line had lived in that country for 800 years, would you suspect your fellow German citizens would do what they did? Where was the precedent that ANYONE could recall as a warning for mass, factory-style murder?
Most times, people get booted out, relocated to piss-poorville land. These were normal folks, like dentists, doctors, musicians, artists, shop keepers, clerks, engineers, not soldiers. They had no experience with anything like that, nor did anyone else on the planet for that matter.

It gets worse. My Liberal Left family actually went after my kids to try to wreck them to teach me a lesson for being Conservative. Since I caught them out on it, I was cut off. Now, it was bad enough that I could have called the cops and they had solid grounds for arresting, but I didn’t think of it until afterwards – when I realized it was pure malice, not accidental.

Read Psalm 73 to help keep your patience, and to help you pray for those who are going the wrong way to turn back to the way of life. Not to question the diplomat, but unless there’s something/someone to back up the diplomat’s claim, I’d take this article with a grain of salt.
1) Why would editors at the NYT (and Mr. Friedman in particular) call up a seriior diplomat for an interview, only for it to turn into a “hate fest”?
2) What does the NYT (and Mr. Friedman) get out of this, if true. They’ll never get another Israeli diplomat source for any stories. {of course, that probably doesn’t matter to the NYT}
3) Why would the diplomat not go to other US News sources who would gladly have run with the story (if only to EMBARASS the hell out of the NYT and put one more nail in their coffin), but limited his comments to Israel Today.
This one i need some more confirmation on before i jump to conclusions

Have YOU been there? My son was there recently for a month, and had the time of his life, it took 30 minutes, after unpacking his suitcase to be adopted by Israeli university students. Half the Apaches from our neighborhood church have been there, loved it. What a thought! Apaches in Israel. Is that cool or what?

So, on what grounds do you claim racism? Jews were citizens of other countries for over a thousands years and their fellow citizens turned on them. How would you like that to happen to you? Do we hear from you any outrage about the BOOTING and KILLING of people when India was partitioned, a split FORCED on the nation by Islamists who insisted they couldn’t live in a multicultural nation? The Sikhs and Hindus lost everything they owned in Pakistan, but they went on and prospered elsewhere. Same year, too, 1948. Yeah, it hurt, it was unfair, but they cowboyed up and established new homes on the other side of the border. You don’t hear the wailing and bile from them, who suffered the SAME, and WORSE as one hears from the Arabs.
I’ve witnessed SEVERAL murderous rampages of Muslims on Muslims – white Muslims attacking Black Muslims, as racist as it gets and have never seen ANYTHING in ANY way comparable from Israelis, not even close. You want to complain about Jews? Then don’t be a hypocrite by ignoring worse being perpetrated against them and others by Arabs.

I haven’t heard a reasonable explanation from a prog as to how objecting to the one million plus illegal immigrant Irish currently in the US constitutes racism.

Where’s NPR on the Southern Sudanese’s very real worry that if the South votes for Separation on January 7th, then Muslim Northerners may vent their rage on any Christian Southerners still stuck up north? A potential “Partition” humanitarian emergency, reminiscent of the India-Pakistan Partition?
So, how convenient is that it was a gaggle of NYT Jews who yelled at the Israeli diplomat? The more numerous anti-semite Gentiles at the NYT can hide behind them and then laugh at people complaining that Jews don’t have any solidarity.

It has been known for some time that the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas is operating in the Egyptian Sinai. But Israel is not the only victim of this development. African migrants and refugees seeking asylum in Israel have reportedly been captured and grossly ill treated by the Palestinian militants.
The Italian-based human rights organization EveryOne reported at the weekend that it had petitioned the Egyptian government to intervene and save the lives of 250 Eritrean refugees who were taken by Hamas operatives in Sinai earlier this month.
