Barack Obama applauded the Eagles for giving Michael Vick a second chance.
If you are not sure if this was a good idea or not, check out the comments here.
Pro Football Talk reported:
Though the Eagles didn’t have a chance to make news on the field tonight, they made some more news off the field.
Peter King of NBC reported during Football Night in America that President Barack Obama recently called Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie to congratulate the team for giving quarterback Mike Vick a second chance.
President Obama explained that a level playing field rarely exists for prisoners who have completed their sentences. Vick’s success gives all of them hope.
Obama better hope that Vick keeps his nose out of trouble… At least for another two years.
For the record, I like watching Vick play football. But was it a good idea for the president to insert himself into this controversy?… No.

He’s a horrible role model. Basically: be cruel, torture dogs, but if you make money providing bread and circusses for the mob you will get away with it. I feel the same way about insider traders going to tennis camp for a short time. He should have been banned from the game for life. Something quite different, I’m guessing. Something along the lines of the Duke Lacrosse players. Or something along the lines of either capital punishment, advocacy for his murder, or imprisonment for life with all the anal rape that this entails.
Different strokes, though, for different (hued) folks.

The relationship between a dog and its human owner is one of nature’s miracles. I can think of only a few such cross species relationships. Human- horse, for example, but only somewhat in that case. Horses are nowhere near dogs in cognitive abilities. Another example, the human-reptile bond, when it exists, is strictly one way. By contrast, when I return from a week long trip, my dogs exhibit a behavior that I can only describe as love. For someone like Vick to exploit such a bond; to torture and kill those who only treat him with affection is beyond foul, Vick has a very damaged soul.
I would wager that at some time in his future some unlucky woman will receive the same treatment as that meted out to Vick’s dogs, and to Nicole Simpson.

History will show that Bush is 10x the man and at the very least 2x the leader as this pathetic disgrace.
My question is that if Vick happened to not be black would the leader of the regime have even bothered? Has the leader of the regime ever put himself out there on a limb and into controversy over any white people besides the disgusting Bill Ayers and according to him his “typical white” grandmother?

As to calling me a “troll” . . . You should be very careful about characterizations and glittering generalities. Had you taking a mere 5 minutes to peruse my site, you would not have chosen to expose yourself in such an ignorant and ridiculous fashion.
But stopping those who hate passionately is an impossible task.
Gini—it is you who are the troll. Aside from playing victim, pathetic as it looks, you might want to re-read the thread, from top to bottom, to remind yourself exactly who ‘came after’ whom, from the very get-go.
In your very first comment on the thread:
1. You accuse everyone here at GP of “money envy”
2. Called us all “asses”
3. Called us all classless
3. Called us all Puritans
Your next comments were all laced with juvenille insult as well, while at the same time you were pretending to be above all us riff-raff — morally so, especially.

Taqiyyotomist commented:
And I sort of agree with SOME of what this jb had to say.
From what I’ve read, Vick paid his legal obligations for his crime, according to U.S. law.
USMC T, not quite. Vick isn’t being hired by the ASPCA or an animal shelter or anything else related to dogs. He’s playing football. So, the logic there is not, well, logical, and is in fact a nonsequiteur.
I do think jb entered this thread like a raging bull, though, knocking over the china, pooping heartily on the rug, and leaving ruts in the hardwood from the hooves, while pretending to be a little lamb, then stalking out, offended that we noticed his behavior.
The Elector of Saxony commented:
JB,
What you probably don’t have the life experience to understand is that sometimes the criminal penalties for crime are just the beginning. People lose their jobs following a criminal conviction never to be rehired. I’m sure you think they have a right to have their job back, but they don’t. Americans who hold professional licenses find them revoked, many times for life following a criminal conviction. The “he deserves to make a living” argument is risable and only a fool would offer it. Lawyers, Stockbrokers, Nurses, Physicians, and Real Estate agents all have been barred from their professions for criminal behavior unrelated to their professions. Vick should have lost his football license after being convicted of racketeering, a felony.
Vick served his time, yes. That entitles him to be released from prison and to breathe free, nothing more. He should be swinging a mop at McDonalds, not being held up as an icon on Sunday. There was a time when our athletes provided us with stories of courage and dignity. Now, they show us nothing but the worst humanity has to offer, and they poison the minds and souls of our children. Show me a kid in a Vick jersey and I’ll show you a future felon/rapist/gang member/violent criminal. The truth is that our society is too sick to survive much longer, and this is just a symptom of a deeper, deadly pathology that we haven’t noticed because, “hey, we feel ok and football is fun, homey. Let’s all get wasted and give thug players and billionaire owners more money.” JB, you’re one of the cancer cells. Congratulations! When this great country finally slides into the dustbin, you’ll be one of the people who helped us get there. Thanks a bunch!

No no no! We all have it wrong! Vick is the greatest ever and the rest of the “white” quarterbacks act stupidly.
Get with the program people! We have to be ruled by the 13% of the population who supports 95% of whatever the half white commie wants done. The 5%ers who actually work and contribute rather than take are a bunch of uncle toms and white wannabes and they should be treated accordingly.
Either let them do what they want or go back to Europe where you all belong. You did genocide the Indians and used the blacks as slaves until you freed them and made them equal under the law 160 years ago. That’s only 6 generations of free people when 20 or 30 are needed for it to set right.
The only thing that can make up for this is to make sure that the 95% of the 13% of this country never pays taxes again, has a check in the mail every month that the ruling 75% will always have to pay, 10lbs of government cheese mailed the 1st and 15th of each month, and has a new Cadillac with 20″ gold rimmed spinners in every driveway of the 95% of 13% of the new ruling class. Then we are on the road to recovery but not before most of you give up your mansions and plantation houses because we all know you didn’t earn it and the government can do much more with it than some old crackers. Property rights is something of the past when a bunch of old crackers ran things!
