Napolitano Defends Obama’s Intel Chief: “He Didn’t Have to Know About London Terror Plot”

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano today defended the president’s intelligence chief saying, “He didn’t have to know about the London terror plot.” Obama Intelligence Chief James Clapper was surprised in an interview this week to hear that several terror suspects had been arrested in Britain in an anti-terror sweep – the largest counterterrorism raid in nearly two years.
James Clapper is the principal adviser to President Obama, the National Security Council, and the Homeland Security Council for intelligence matters related to national security.
FOX Nation reported this from Mediaite:
I knew. [Chief Counterterrorism Advisor] John Brennan knew. We also knew there was no connect that had been perceived to anything going on in the homeland and that we were in perfect connectivity with our colleagues in Britain. So one of the things I think that should be very clear to the American people is that those of us in homeland security who needed to know, we knew.
It’s good to know that this guy is the principal advisor to the president, huh?

Brennan then tried to spin the gaffe into a positive, by suggesting that it was a good thing Clapper wasn’t watching the news:
Should he have been briefed by his staff on those arrests? Yes. And I know there was breathless attention by the media about these arrests, and it was constantly on the news networks. I‘m glad that Jim Clapper is not sitting in front of the TV 24 hours a day and monitoring what’s coming out of the media. What he is doing is focusing on those intelligence issues that the president expects him to focus on and to make sure that we don’t have conflict in different parts of the world.

Obviously it is a custodial worker with clothes provided by the network to make her look like a Cabinet Member. What I wonder about, though, is how they dubbed in Janet’s voice so seemlessly. Of course the heads of Homeland Security before under GWB were not great either.
The agency should be disbanded and the various tasks returned to the various Cabinets.
There is no info that having this giant agency is the answer. Or at the least divide it up into regions, say NS>West sec agencies.See how that goes.
It might be better to consider a volunteer corps of Americans to watch the watchers and do a lot of what these TSA and DHSers do. We have the Peace Corps already. This might be the War Corps.

It is a communication problem, if you can not say war on terror, muslim terrorist or any of the long list of forbidden terms then then overseas contingincy operation may mean looking for an airport that is not snowed in, landing in amsterdam instead of paris eg.
