I am very excited to announce this news tonight…
Ambassador, Proven Republican Leader, Visionary, and “West Point Mom” — Ann Wagner is running for RNC Chair.

Ann Wagner stands with the troops.

Who is Ann Wagner?
Ann Wagner, former co-chair of the Republican National Committee, announced in a video message this month that she is running for Chairman of the RNC.

From her website…
Ann Wagner is one of the most successful political professionals working in Republican politics today. Her career is rich in service to her community, state and nation.

Following nomination by President George W. Bush and confirmation by the U.S. Senate, Ann Wagner was sworn in as the 19th U.S. Ambassador to Luxembourg by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on August 1st, 2005, in Washington, D.C. She served as U.S. Ambassador for four years until July, 2009.

For her service as U.S. Ambassador, Ann Wagner received The Grand Cross, Order of Merit of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The highest Order awarded for professional achievements or meritorious services.

Most recently, Ann Wagner served as the Chairman of Roy Blunt’s successful U.S. Senate campaign in Missouri where she focused on campaign strategy, fundraising, message development and bringing old and new elements of the grassroots together for an historic victory. POLITICO named Blunt’s campaign one of the top 10 best campaigns in the nation in the 2010 election cycle.

Wagner is the Honorary Co-Chair of the American Freedom and Enterprise Foundation, a Missouri based non-profit organization promoting free market principles.

Ann Wagner has a proven track record…
Previously, Ann Wagner was Co-Chair of the Republican National Committee for two terms, a tenure marked by historic election victories. Her extensive travels in this role took her to 48 of the 50 states focusing on building strong state party organizations and coalitions.

Wagner, who has served the Republican Party at the local, state and national levels, also outlined a detailed agenda for the future of the RNC that she will be committed to if elected.

“As a former member of the Republican National Committee, I want to talk directly with you, the members of this Committee, about what we can do – and, I believe, must do – to fully change America’s direction in 2012, and to decisively bring conservative Republican leadership to the presidency, Congress and the states,” Wagner said in her video message to the committee members. “There is much we can and will accomplish together for the good of our nation. The RNC needs to be funded to its maximum obligations. We must be efficient, relevant, professional and credible.”

Ann Wagner’s detailed agenda for the future of the RNC includes more aggressive fundraising, better management, reinvigorated political operations and new communications initiatives.

The Agenda for the Future is available at www.AnnWagner.com/Agenda

Already Ann has picked up the support of Tennessee Republican Party Chairman Chris Devaney, a previously Steele-friendly member named to a leadership position by the RNC chief along with several other voting members. National conservative icon Phyllis Schlafly also supports Ann Wagner.

On a personal note…
Ann is wonderful Missouri patriot. She is just a delight to be around and is full of energy. I’ve met Ann on several occasions and she was always excited to hear how I was doing, excited to hear about the conservative media and the internet. I know that Ann is just who we need to lead the Republican Party at this critical point in our nation’s history. I am very proud to support her as the next leader of the RNC.

  1. Yep I watched her vid and she get’s my endorsement. Steele was not effective, and this is the year of the conservative woman. Put her in.

  2. I like the sounds of this chick… Appears like many other of our newly elected woman to have more balls than many men we have elected.

Who would have guessed we would have to have women jump in ..kick ass and take names

  3. Jim, what’s her position on Governor Palin? Huck? Romney? Pence? Yeah, I know the RNC chair has to skate on playing favorites, but we don’t need a “Karl Rove maneuver” taking out any candidates who win primaries.

If she thinks the Krauthammer/Kaus types are right about Palin, then I’d go with Ken Blackwell (or even a stiff drink, and stick with Steele).

  4. I had high hopes for Steele, but he’s had a few too many gaffes during his tenure as RNC Chairman. Let’s leave the gaffes to Biden and Obama. It’s time for fresh leadership at the RNC. Hopefully, Steele will learn to be more careful with his words, and run for Congress sometime soon.

  6. All I want for Christmas is . . .

    ANN WAGNER FOR RNC CHAIR.

(Please go away quietly, Mr. Steele. ANd take the other RINO candidates wid ya.)

  7. I am glad to see a real quality alternative emerge. The choice was looking to be Steele or a McCain establishment Rino .

  8. We’ll see. I don’t know anything about her and appreciate Jim’s “personal note,” but time will tell. If she can stand up to the RINO machine and make decisions based solely on “what’s best for conservatism – is what’s best for the country” – then maybe – maybe – I’ll support the RNC.

One thing I learned going through the 2008 and 2010 election cycle, is that I can place my money and support behind ANY candidate – directly. I think a lot of conservatives selected that route.

  9. Agree scituate – I’ve been supporting certain candidates directly. The RNC has a long way to go before I’ll give them my hard earned money.

  10. she looks better than Steele for sure, but I worry about maybe she might be too entrenched in the legacy Republican world (Rinoville USA).

You shall know them by thier fruit.
Steele is barren of success, The internet makes it easy to not need the RNC/DNC. The people now have the power.
Why keep an ineffective leader boot his ass and get a firebrand.

    powder is dry.

  12. Go Ann! We have to turn around the “old” Republican Party and become the New Republican Party open to all who support our Constitution, and believe in Liberty and LIMITED GOVERNMENT. RINOs need not apply.

  13. Did anyone notice that Ann’s agenda doesn’t mention what *kinds* of Republicans the RNC would help elect and raise money for?

Bottom line: it’s not that that American can’t elect Republicans into office; history shows America can do that.

Can we get the *right* kind of Republicans in Congress?

Is Ann’s goal to get the *right* kind of Republicans in?

Sometimes it seems the goal isn’t fixing government but electing Republicans (without definition) to win. I call this “sticking fingers in the leaks of the dam” to hold off the inevitable. But maybe this is the best we can do. Yet something inside of me says “give me liberty or give me death.”

  14. Every other contender is either a RINO or a CINO (conservative in name only). And Steele’s fundraising failures combined with his taking credit for Tea Party successes are rather grating.

Ann Wagner seems like the best candidate so far, and it’s likely I’ll be supporting her.

  15. Ann Wagner may be a very impressive woman, but touting her four years as ambassador to Luxembourg, one of the world’s most irrelevant countries, says absolutely nothing about her abilities.

  16. Conservative women have b*lls of brass. Leftist women just have brass. (well, that and a corner on fugly)

  17. Don’t know her, never heard of her but I don’t think another female with brass balls is the answer to anything. What’s required is a real man with real balls and considering who the RNC is and what they’ve done to us the last thirty years I don’t see a man like that getting the nod. Until that happens the RNC needs to be marginalized by conservative voters until we can become the establishment.

  18. Can’t she button up her blouse?

  19. Ruth’s question above is right to the point – what kind of Republican IS she? Her pedigree certainly suggests she is in the camp of the Bushie establishment Repubs. CAVEAT EMPTOR – progressive Republicans in the Bush camp are the ones who brought the Republican party to the verge of extinction two years ago and practically killed the conservative movement!

As far as Steele being “barren of success”, who of us would have honestly believed two years ago that the Republicans would pick up 63 seats in congress in 2010? Yeah, the Tea Party movement had a lot to do with it, but at least Steele had the good sense to embrace it and stay out of our way. I’m predicting here and now that this hack won’t. What we will see will be the establishment Republicans push back hard against the insurgent “Tea Partiers” under Wagner’s leadership.

And can someone please explain why the Senate candidate (Blunt) whose campaign she just managed saw fit to help the Democrats pass the Dream Act in the House? The vote was 216 – 198 with 8 Republicans voting “yes” and 11 abstaining, INCLUDING MISSOURI’S NEWLY ELECTED SENATOR, ANN WAGNER’S BOY ROY BLUNT.

If Blunt and the other 10 Republicans who abstained had voted “NO”, the vote would have been 216 – 209. Flip the other 8 RINOs voting “Yes” to “No”, and the bill goes down to defeat 208 – 217! So at the end of the day if this passes we can all thank Senator-elect Blunt and the rest of his RINO turn-coat pals for lending a helping hand to to the Democrats to push this bill through the House.

Here’s the roll-call for the vote. Note the title of the bill, but trust me, it’s the DREAM ACT:

  20. I’m with Gravely here.

We don’t need someone who will push the “Senator-elect Blunt and the rest of his RINO turn-coat pals”. It’s never been easier to channel your hard-earned cash to candidates of your choice. That’s the way to do it right now.

  21. I love her and I am ecstatic about her running. I have gotten to meet her as well and was impressed.

I wanted to throw Steele under the bus a long time ago. Its past time, and Ann would be the perfect person to replace him.

  22. Please verify her abilities to work with others. Luxembourg was a beautiful county, but a monkey could have been the ambassador. It is one of the cushiest posts around. Also, I would like to hear from those who worked very closely with her.
