South Carolina Governor-elect Nikki Haley confronted President Obama this week during his meeting with the nation’s governors.

Haley told the president that if his administration does not honor the federal government’s nuclear energy commitments then,
“The people of South Carolina want their money back.”

The Post and Courier reported:

Haley said she also asked the president if he would honor the federal government’s commitment on developing a nuclear waste repository. When he said he would not revisit opening Nevada’s Yucca Mountain, “I said, ‘Then give us our money back.’ ”

The site 90 miles northwest of Las Vegas was proposed to house more than 4,000 metric tons of high-level nuclear waste from South Carolina’s Savannah River Site. The state and Washington have sued over Obama’s attempt to kill plans for the storage site after decades of study.

“SRS has done a good job, but that was a temporary solution. It was never meant to be a permanent solution,” Haley said she told him. “The federal government has reneged on its promise, and the people of South Carolina want their money back.”

South Carolina’s power plants and its customers have contributed more than $1 billion over nearly 30 years to a permanent repository.

She says Obama pledged that he would have Energy secretary Steven Chu call her promptly.

“I will wait for that phone call, and if I don’t get it, I will be calling
, but I feel he was being genuine,” she said.

  1. Don’t be naive, Governor Haley. There is nothing genuine about this charlatan but his Marxist ideology and his loathing for everything this country stands for. You may indeed receive a call, but don’t fool yourself into believing it will be in good faith.

  2. ROFL Sure Governor, the check is in the mail! You have President Obama’s word on it.

  3. a genuine lying POS perhaps.

  4. I was just reading something about that.
Aren’t they supposed to be on track to test a new generation of self contained mini-reactors that are built off site and transported there….?
Apparently they are self contained, much cheaper per KW and can run on spent fuel rods.

Firm partners with Savannah River National Solutions for mini-reactor development
by Andrew Shain with The State newspaper

A nuclear reactor the size of a couple of hot tubs that could power a town the size of Lexington — and be portable — could be made a little more than an hour from Columbia.

A New Mexico company, Hyperion Power Generation, has announced a partnership with the Savannah River National Laboratory that could lead to building mini-reactors at the site near Aiken.

The mini-reactors could power military bases and large industrial plants or serve as large-scale backup power generators. The reactors would be buried 33 feet in the ground and provide enough energy for the equivalent of 20,000 homes, said Deborah Blackwell, Hyperion’s policy director. They could be removed after cooling off after several months and moved to another site, she said.

I wonder if that is still in the works because Obama pledged to fast track new clean power technology.
    These things sound amazing.

  5. Sorry, I know this is off topic. There is a devastating fire raging in Northern Israel that has still not gotten under control. Have you seen anything about why it has taken Obama 3 days to rent Israel a firefighting plane? There was faster help from Turkey than the US, which is the only country in the world that has planes that can fight fires at night. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about this.
    Thank you.

  6. Great!! She is going to be a great asset to all Amerians. Why not? The federal is going after NJ on wanting their money back for not fulfilling the completion of some highways.

Where is the outrage? It’s our tax dollars that we worked for each day so there has to be accountability. Just read a thriller that’s about AMericans just like us who finally take a stand as the governor is now doing. It’s a must read & I recommend it cause it could be our true destiny. It’s good.

I hope she can push this to the full limit & finally make our govt. accountable for our tax dollars. Good article!

  7. Boy is she fooled. He’s never genuine. He’s a low brow character who is incorrigible.
    Everyone knows that.

  8. Disney made a movie, “The Lion King”. Obie made the sequel.

Yes I have heard of this and remarked on it myself elsewhere. What I most particularly want to know is WHY, when we have a full complement of fire-fighting equipment and experienced fire fighters a mere few hundred kilometers away in Iraq why aren’t they long since in Israel putting out the fire? A good chunk of the troops we have there are National Guard from states that field the Guard every single summer to fight forest fires.

Meanwhile, during Chanukah we see of the best and brightest of young Israelis, his mother’s only child, join that long thin line of heroes who marched straight into the fires of 911. In case you hadn’t heard, these multiple fires appear to have been deliberately set.

Consider a donation to the American Friends of Magen David- the Israeli Red Cross. Thousands have been evacuated and are homeless this holiday season.

  10. I hope the Governor was being kind when she said he seemed genuine. Otherwise, she’s in for a steep learning curve.

The progs will never allow another nuclear power plant if it is within their power to prevent it. This is why they killed Yucca. They know to issue an outright ban is political suicide, so they will nibble around the edges to make it harder and harder. It is more difficult to control a population that has cheap, abundant energy.

    Follow the money.

  11. @Ogee, then she’ll learn…

She will soon learn the only thing his is genuine in is his ideology, which is NOT on ours or her side. I’m impressed she went there though…His reaction is telling as well. Hates confrontation. Go, Gov. Haley, go! :)

  12. Yeah, Governor Haley. You’ll be gettin a call from the White House all right. Axelrod is gonna talk to you like you were treasonous Red State GOP terrorist.

  13. No one said that Governor-elect Halley “believed it”, but she is just holding barry’s feet to the fire and bless her for that. She is absolutely right and I hope that more of the freshman class of 2011 governors follow her lead.

  14. Good for her, but she is going to find out just how genuine he is. He’s a sociopath. They do nothing but lie.

  15. Thanks “Granny” for the information. I had not thought about how close help could have been.

  16. Without nuclear power expansion there will be no additional power of any significance for national economic expansion. That is the only currently viable source for significant additional power that exists. All these “green” alternatives are mere percentage points or so, not enough to have any real impact.

  17. You got to love her. She has more balls than the great balls-less one.

  18. this kitty has claws mr. president. good for her; call this waste of an administration out. for global warming, Obama is comfortable using threats, scandal, and bribes to strong arm the opposition. however, when it concerns jobs and the general welfare of American citizens, he will get back to you.

seems to me, obama’s only agenda is global warming and propping up unions.

  19. She doesn’t think Obama was being genuine. She’s laying a little trap there. Now he either has to follow through in some way, or be embarrassed as a phony (again). It will be the latter, but now it will be a bit more public and more obvious. Who knows, maybe one of these days the MSM will actually be forced to report such things.

    Well played, Nikki Haley.

  20. Don’t Wait Too Long:

Megakudos to Gov.-elect Haley, and her team, for their electoral triumph!

From above: ‘She says Obama pledged that he would have Energy secretary Steven Chu call her promptly.

“I will wait for that phone call, and if I don’t get it, I will be calling, but I feel he was being genuine,” she said.’

Let’s hope she/they soon realize Obama’s ability to convey to others such good ‘…feel(ings)…’ about how ‘…genuine…’ he is, (thus gaining much time to further implement his destructive agenda), is his primary weapon in effecting his program of chaotic destruction for America.

…As good, strong, decent patriots in every social, governmental, educational, and business sphere wait _patiently_ and _politely_ for ‘their turn’ to bask in the attention/grace of Himself, The One.

Ms. Haley, and all who ‘…feel…’ how ‘…genuine…’ are his assurances better learn quick to take the lash from Obama’s hands and turn it on him.

…If, that is, they expect anything but chaos and destruction from Obama’s ‘…pledge(s)…’

  21. Haley says “I will wait for that phone call, and if I don’t get it, I will be calling, but I feel he was being genuine. ”

Oh, you’ll get the phone call alright, but the only thing he’ll say is “F*** YOU!!!”

  22. The only phone call the little bedwetting crybaby in DC makes is the one to the people who pull his strings and tell this yackoff what he is to say and do next. That’s just how democrat’s lead, they need someone to do the heavy lifting for them.
