GOP Donors were not happy about Michael Steele’s surprise announcement yesterday.
Prominent donors warned that they would not raise money if Steele stays as RNC chairman.
The Politico reported:
Some of the Republican Party’s most prominent donors reacted Tuesday with shock — and then fury — to Michael Steele’s decision to seek re-election, bluntly warning that they would not raise money for the party if the controversial chairman wins another term.
None of the contributors has a vote on the committee, but with worries about the debt-ridden party’s finances hanging over Steele, the unambiguous threats could further undermine the incumbent’s already-dim prospects for victory.
While nothing firm was planned, a number of the contributors said they had been in contact with one another since Steele’s announcement Monday night about what they could do to send a message to the 168 members of the committee who will decide the next chairman in January.
“If Mr. Steele were to prevail, it will further alienate the party’s major financial supporters and most active fundraisers,” said Wayne Berman, a top Washington lobbyist and bundler who served as the McCain presidential campaign’s finance chairman in 2008. “His arrogant style, cult of personality and embarrassing mismanagement are sources of great discontent with the major fundraisers of the party.”
Should Steele return as chairman, Berman added, it will spur many donors to do what they did in 2010 and “support the many successful third-party groups.”

If these are insider DC lobbyist “fundraisers” represented by the likes of power broker Karl Marx Rove….this is every reason to re-elect Mr Steele. When these good old boys were knee capping O’Donnell for beating Mike Castle it was STEELE who spoke up for Christine, not the “big donors”.

…….
McCain. Bundled $21 million of that POTUS campaign money into his Senate PRIMARY against a Conservative Republican.
wanumba commented:
It wasn’t ALL POTUS money into the Senate campaign, but Republicans were asking themselves WHY McCain was using Republican donations meant expressly to defeat a DEMOCRAT but hoarded and used in a Senate primary against a Republican.
It was questions like,” WHY should I donate to the RNC when RINOs like McCain are using my money against other Republicans?” and “How come McCain didn’t campaign this hard against the Democrat OBAMA?”
More to this than meets the eye. That is, with this McCain attempt to undermine Steele, willing to take a closer look at Steele’s actual performance rather accept uncritically the media-presented performance.

Read the final sentance of Jim’s post again…. “Should Steele return as chairman, Berman added, it will spur many donors to do what they did in 2010 and “support the many successful third-party groups.”…. Following this logic … If we want the Tea Party to grow in power, vote for Steele. ……What do we really want some cruel corporate professional Rino taking over to make sure all the tea party minded candidates in the primary get more thoroughly aborted than they did under Steele’s tenure ?

It is the politico, take it with a grain of salt. Whatever happens, if it is cataclysmic to the GOP-squishes–maybe that is good.
I expect Nothing out of these newbies coming up in Jan ’11. Donk lites.Anyway Obama will be re-elected I think. The tv is slipping Mitt in to the mix and Huck and Pawlenty (not too bad). But these guys have no panache. Partic if biden gets replaced with Franken:all the H’wood star power!

I’m already gone. If I give, it is to an individual.

Next time you receive a request from the R(i)N(o)C asking for a donation, glue the postage-paid envelope to a cinder block and mail it back to them. Clearly they are dumber than a box of rocks to continue down the RINO trail, so give them more rocks to pave their road to oblivion….and for grins, glue an Obama/Biden bumper sticker to the other side of the block.

If the RNC picks Steele or a like-minded RINO, I will be relieved and glad and thrilled to leave the GOP forever ever ever ever ever ever.
I will spend my energy searching for True Conservatives who know the Founding Fathers Hearts because they have studied their WORDS and not Dim revisionists OPINIONS of them!
Hear that, Fred Thompson – you RINO Clinton supporting jerk?

I donate. I’m not one of the huge donors but usually give every time they call. I will not donate but for other reasons. I’m tired of them not fighting Barack Hussein Obama’s tyranny. This last incident just put me over the edge. This man has rode roughshod over our country and citizens for two years now. They have not acted collectively to stop it. I wanted to switch parties to Independent but couldn’t vote in the primary if I did. I decided I would just ask them to remove us from their call list, mailings etc. We will only donate to Jim DeMints Senate Conservatives Fund and Sarah Palin’s Fund.
We will only give to those who have shown through their actions they have the strength to do what’s right.

I stopped giving to the RNC several years ago. Already then they were drifting into Demoncrat Lite. Again this year they screwed several good primary candidates who weren’t part of the old boys club.
The entire GOP is about to self immolate. This biennium is going to tell the tale. It starts with the G*d awful spending bill. If the GOP does not stop or derail that travesty they are toast.
