We’re starting to see a pattern here…
When the Iraqi people were being slaughtered in the street Obama said genocide was preferable to continued US presence in the region.
When the Iranian freedom protesters were being shot at from rooftops, he turned his back on them.

When the Honduran people rose against their socialist tyrant, he supported the tyrant.

And, now we learn that the Obama Administration has allowed American companies to do billions of dollars of business with evil anti-democratic regimes – including the Iranians who are supplying terrorists with bombs to kill US soldiers.
The New York Times reported:

Despite sanctions and trade embargoes, over the past decade the United States government has allowed American companies to do billions of dollars in business with Iran and other countries blacklisted as state sponsors of terrorism, an examination by The New York Times has found.

In an interview, the Obama administration’s point man on sanctions, Stuart A. Levey, said that focusing on the exceptions “misses the forest for the trees.”

And, yet Obama has the gall to lecture the global community to “Stand up for freedom.

  1. There’s a follow-up article too……

(Reuters) – The Treasury Department on Thursday defended its issuance of special licenses for American companies to do business with Iran and other blacklisted nations, in response to a New York Times report on deals made despite sanctions and trade embargoes.

A Treasury official said the majority of the cases examined by The Times were approved under a law requiring the Treasury to license exports of agricultural and medical humanitarian aid to Iran and Sudan.

“These are not discretionary exceptions to U.S. sanctions made by Treasury,” the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

At what point do the pitchforks and torches start to move towards DC ?

    Heads need to roll.

    Literally.

  2. Everybody who didn’t have an expectation that the lying socialist Kenyan and his Administration would show favor to such rogue nations once elected, raise your hand… that’s what I thought.

  3. Is there no le4vel to which Obamao will not sink?

  4. What fool believes anything said by the government? It is obvious that lies ,deception and spin are the response to everything. We the people are merely dupes and dummies for the superior people in charge of our lives. If there is any conflict it is we who do not understand.
Until liars are punished they will continue to lie.

  5. Unbelievable.

    “over the past decade”

Who was President for 80 percent of the last decade? Who construicted the bureaucratic structure you’re whining about?

  6. But, but, but he’s reading a book about Reagan.

  7. Apparently TONY(Times of New York) has finally deciphered the handwriting on the wall: ‘Dump this loser before he drags you down with him’.

  8. There is no doubt that the number one company doing business with these murdering thugs is the one and only GE. They have violated every sanction against regimes and yet get billions from this pathetic pantywaist in the oval office. They need to be run out of business and forbidden from doing anymore here in America. Let them sleep in the bed they made.

  9. Jfxgillis, do you think American companies should be allowed to do business with Iran? A simple yes or no is all that is required, but feel free to display more of your libtardness and reitirate the Bush did it so it’s OK line.

  10. Strangernfiction:

First, let me commend your fellow right-wing lunatics at Commentary for at least having the shred of honesty it takes to mention George W. Bush’s name.

Second, to answer your question, here’s the way American politics works: Rule 1: Capital always wins; Rule 2: When in doubt, see Rule 1.

As a lefty, I’m not especially happy about that, but at least I’m not so stupid as to not understand it. What I think American businesses “should” or “should not” do, and what you think and what the chief psychotic right-winger at this here blog thinks American businesses “should” or “should not” do is laughably irrelevant.

Out of my list of top 100 things American companies should not be allowed to do, trading with Iran is, ah, somewhere on the list. Lower than #1 and higher than #100, approximately. But it doesn’t matter where on the list because it doesn’t matter. Those firms are going to do what they’re going to do to maximize profits and the Treasury and Commerce Depts. are going to help them. Period.

  11. The #2 poster said that Obama is a Kenyan.

  12. More accurately the title should read as follows:

Change! Bush administration approved business with blacklisted nations

seems like the posters being slightly disingenuous again

  13. You don’t actually think consistency and rationality matter to the yahoos who read this site, do you?

  14. Pale ryder NO#8 is on the money pluse they and the Union getting most of the Stumis money.

  15. “We’re starting to see a pattern here”

Yes we are. The first line of the article says “over the past decade”, yet somehow this is all Obama’s doing.

Cheney’s reign at Halliburton coinciding with them selling nuclear program components to Iran being the most obvious example of profit-over-sense story, which of course all of you gave a pass to when this was reported many years ago.

The absence of credibility and intellectual honesty really does need to be in the dictionary definition of ‘blogger’.

  16. Ho Ho Ho!

    The foreign trolls are here.

  17. Again, don’t listen to a word Obama says. Instead, watch what he does.

jfxgillis — this president is a liar. Defend him and his ways all you want, but know that he is a liar. He is horrible for this country and our future.

  18. CVI:

I’m not defending him. I’m attacking you psycho dittohead right-wing idiot lunatics.

When I defend Obama, you’ll know it.

  19. don’t forget Hugo Chavez.
