Doug Ross brings us this sad news…
Cold kills record number of manatees in 2010
Florida’s record number of manatee deaths in 2010 — 699 — were largely blamed on the severe cold last winter. And that count could rise with more cold temperatures expected next week…
…Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials said Friday that 2010 saw an unprecedented die-off for the endangered mammals…
…Last winter’s freezing temperatures gave many manatees an acute cold shock, like severe hypothermia, that killed them faster than in previous winters [and] the cold weather spread as far south as the Everglades and Florida Keys, areas where manatees usually don’t see many cold-related deaths.
Meanwhile, the socialists in the Obama Administration are setting aside 187,000 square miles in Alaska as a “critical habitat” for polar bears due to non-existent global warming, despite the fact that polar bear numbers, far from decreasing, are much higher than they were 50 years ago.

oh, but that cannot be, i mean, i recently watched a news special in which
they claimed it was the tourists who go swimming with them and harassing
them via petting causing them to flee to colder waters.. GAHGAHNOLADY!!

Hmmm… Do you have any recipes?
I would think that these ‘sea cows’ taste pretty good, living in warm water and eating sea grass all the time. When’s the hunting season for manatees and what sort of ammo is acceptable?
A nice big manatee steak right now sounds pretty darn good.

I was in Florida last winter and it was cold. It’s too bad for the manatees this WH is prejudiced.

Uh…. no. Our influence on the climate is… how to put it. It’s as impressive as a fart in a hurricane.
Though, let’s not forget that, in Earth’s history, there have been points where 70, 80, 90% of all species… simply died. They simply perished. And often not even because of some huge asteroid flattening half of the planet (ok, I exaggerate, but you get the point.) Rather it seems that there is some sort of cycle that has been repeating itself for millions of years.

Manatees are stacked like cordwood at the local power plant discharge. Who cares? The real damage is being do to the local inshore fishery, where are being wiped out it’s so cold.

The emperor marched in the procession under the beautiful canopy, and all who saw him in the street and out of the windows exclaimed: “Indeed, the emperor’s new suit is incomparable! What a long train he has! How well it fits him!” Nobody wished to let others know he saw nothing, for then he would have been unfit for his office or too stupid. Never emperor’s clothes were more admired.
“But he has nothing on at all,” said a little child at last. “Good heavens! listen to the voice of an innocent child,” said the father, and one whispered to the other what the child had said. “But he has nothing on at all,” cried at last the whole people. That made a deep impression upon the emperor, for it seemed to him that they were right; but he thought to himself, “Now I must bear up to the end.” And the chamberlains walked with still greater dignity, as if they carried the train which did not exist.
Marie commented:
Not only were the manatees killed off by the cold last winter in Florida but so were many of the lizards that inhabit south Florida. They were literally falling out of the trees. Since then I have only seen maybe a dozen of them. Normally I would see a dozen a day. The manatees are smart, they moved into the canals and huddled to keep warm. Global warming my arse.

Can the next President unlock those 187000 acres ?
RedBeard commented:
Protecting the manatees is a good thing, but doing so with common sense might be a way to go.
Oh, wait… I forgot what kind of people run D.C.
Never mind.

Anthropogenic Global Warming is an admitted scam to seize complete economic control by the “elites” on a global level. Only the stupidist, most moronic people believe it, usually with the assistance of massive THC intake. The Gore Effect has recently frozen Cancun dontcha know. The ‘”answer” to non-existent AGW is the electric car. You know, the ones that go 40 miles on a charge, without lights, heater, wipers, radio or AC on. The ones that use incredibly toxic heavy metals in their batteries and require coal generated electricity to recharge them over 8 hrs for that trip to the 7-11 for those twinkies.

I’d rather see a world with liberals.
Poor manatees.
Innocent creatures who will be a figment of our imagination soon.
God bless the animals.
Sickofobama commented:
Whoa!
My comment should have read, “I’d rather see a world withOUT liberals.”
Shame on me!
