Barack Obama is the worst jobs president since the Great Depression and is on his way to becoming the worst jobs president in US History.

The democrats wanted to fundamentally change America. They did.
The US unemployment rate has not fallen below 9.0% for over a year now. This is unprecedented.
But, at least there’s one segment that is not hurting.
The number of federal workers making over $150,000 has doubled under Barack Obama.
USA Today reported:
The number of federal workers earning $150,000 or more a year has soared tenfold in the past five years and doubled since President Obama took office, a USA TODAY analysis finds.
The fast-growing pay of federal employees has captured the attention of fiscally conservative Republicans who won control of the U.S. House of Representatives in last week’s elections. Already, some lawmakers are planning to use the lame-duck session that starts Monday to challenge the president’s plan to give a 1.4% across-the-board pay raise to 2.1 million federal workers.

This idea that we have to overpay public employees is crap. They should have some relevant index to keep their pay in line with private sector employes doing similar work. The pensions also need to be brought into line with what is typical in similar industries and job descriptions.
The next crisis is going to be in underfunded government pensions at the state and federal level. We will need waves of early retirements to clear up that mess. Bottom line is govern-ment is way too big and must shrink to levels that are consistent with our real needs.
While I am at it, it would also be helpful if all those federal employees that owe millions and millions in back taxes pay up or be fired. There is no reason thay should be treated differently than everyone else.

Driving through Alexandria, Georgetown, Bethesda and Chevy Chase it is more than apparent that life is VERY VERY VERY good for the government class. Immaculate yards, landscaping to die for, Halloween decorations and fall flowers abound. Back in the sticks NO ONE is decorating or fixing up anything. People are scared, hunkering down. I found myself really resenting the Government worker class when my spouses profession is decimated by the new health care bill. They live in a freaking bubble of non accountable guaranteed affluence
paid for by those of us scraping by in the private workforce.

Well, Barry’s gotta pay them more to keep them as his voters. This is the main idea behind ZeroCare, adapted from England. When the entire population of healthcare providers is UNIONIZED, they will never vote those who fund them out of power.
Govt. employees should have been prohibited from organizing unions and the Repubs should look into that post haste.

And the people who were forced to pay into social security, retired, then saw their private retirement accounts take a dive, returned to work to survive, and once again are paying the SS tax, get no increase.
There should be no increase for anyone in government employ, including those in Congress who managed to vote themselves a nice little raise. And then start the process of eliminating a slew of government jobs. It is time to stop this madness.

so this trend started five years ago, but is Obamas fault. Great logic people.

Well Pelosi has been in charge for over 4 years!

Give them a break. Destroying a nation through excessive regulation and currency manipulation is hard work. Big shout out to Timmy the Treasurer, and Bogus Ben. And oh yes, Georgie the Mad Hungarian.

How about an across the board pay cut for federal workers?

Ron-
Might want to read again; they don’t even mention a trend or pattern, they just mention the past five years as a frame of comparison.
Later in the story, they point out that it’s gone up 2.2% more, annually, than private work.
I remember why this happened– Bush tried to get the military enlisted folks’ pay up to where a second class (that would be mild-level supervisor) with ten years in didn’t have to get food stamps for his wife and kid. ALL of the military pay was crazy low, so they started raising it.
Then the civilian contractors started to complain, because the military was getting raises and they weren’t, even though their pay was already above non-gov’t. So they started to get raises at the same rate as the military, and I’d bet that non-military civil service got it, too…..

Instead of focusing on cutting social security, medicare etc. the first thing Republicans should seek is a reduction in the size of government by requiring all Federal agencies cut their budgets by 40%. Next make it illegal for government employees to belong to unions. Finally put a freeze on all public sector salaries, its about time they felt the pain that us private sector employees have been feeling.

Jacquie #15 – how about pay cuts, too?
