Sarah Palin told Barbara Walters today that she could beat Obama.

  1. A bird flies somewhere, picks up a seed, craps the seed out, plant grows. Bird’s got a job, crap’s got a job, seed’s got a job.

Palin served a purpose…….It might not be done but it sure ain’t POTUS.

  2. Wow Adam! You are quite the philosopher.

    That was deep.

  3. My uncle Bill could beat Obama.

  4. My dachshund, Poindexter, the chronic cat box bandit could beat BO.

  5. I can’t take credit for that…saw it on another board.

  6. Obama is losing to Obama.

  7. #3- laughed out loud!

Seriously, though, the surest way to re-elect Mr. Obama is for Mrs. Palin to run.

  8. In 2012 even Barbara Walters can beat Barry BOY.

  9. I am a die-hard Conservative (read all my previous post here over the past 2 years ) Sarah, in my opinion, cannot be elected POTUS – my wife loves her to pieces as well, but feels the same way – an done more thing, have never watched 10 seconds of dancing with the stars, going to next week just so I can vote for Bristol to drive Liberals nuts I have 47 buiness lines and 5 cells phones + a fax i will use them all to vote for her

Yet another political neophyte makes an ignorant prediction.
Have you seen what is happening with Dancing with the stars?
America/TPM has hijacked the show and is keeping Bristol on.
I have seen her dance she is wooden and stiff. She is the finger in the liberel lefts eye, so is Momma Grizzley. Watch what happens, you’ve been watching too much TV. powder is dry.

  11. Paul,

You got a lot of time on your hands then.

  12. Of course, Sarah can beat Obama she has a brain something that the scarecrow in the WH doesn’t have.

  13. If Sarah Palin cannot defeat this fiend in the White House then it logically follows that Americans are too stupid and or degenerate to remain free and prosperous.

  14. I sure don’t get conservatives saying that the “surest way” to keep Obama in the WH is to nominate Palin

I still haven’t one good reason for purporting this view, unless they’re in with the Mitt camp or some other RINO… or believe all the crap the press has been feeding them.

Polls do not support this argument, and Palin is by far the most talented and charismatic Republican politician… if any body could overcome the false negatives created by relentless and unprecedented character assasination it would be her

    Go get ‘em, Cuda-

  15. PS-

Palin-Petraeus 2012… how you like them apples?

  16. #11 Paul,

You got a lot of time on your hands then.

nope, just a lot of employees that feel the same way I do

  17. If Gov. Palin runs, she’s not just going to *beat* Obama.

She’s going to *smash* him, Reagan-style.

Gov. Palin is *not* polarizing; she was *polarized*.

And if she runs, she’s going to have to win the primaries first, and if she wins the nomination, it will be because her strategy was successful.

She will have reintroduced herself to the American people, successfully bypassing the MSM.

Remember, they called Reagan an “extremist”, an “aimiable dunce”, etc.

    They said he couldn’t win.

And how did that prediction turn out for them?

    Not so great, huh?

Do *not* let the MSM pick our candidates for us.

We are engaged in political *war* with the Democrat Party/MSM complex.

The MSM *want the Democrats to win*.

When they suggest we listen to David Frum, Peggy Noonan, and David Brooks, it *isn’t* because they’re hoping we can pick our strongest candidate.

It’s because they’re hoping we’ll pick our *weakest* candidate.

One who, say, will turn off the conservative majority in this country.

Like a certain senator, for example, who wouldn’t bring up Obama’s pastor.

Gov. Palin has been *itching* to fight Obama mano-a-mano since 2008.

Do you think *he* is itching for a fight with her?

Do you think he would like to have to face Gov. Palin, who, unlike a certain senator, is actually *in touch with* the conservative base in America?

Gov. Palin follows Glenn Beck, Mark Levin, Rush, and Sean.

She knows about Saul Alinsky, and about ACORN and Cloward & Piven.

She reads Hot Air, HillBuzz, C4P, and I’d bet she’s clicked on Gateway Pundit a few times.

If she faces Obama, Gov. Palin is going to say everything you ever wished *you* could say yourself to Obama.

If she faces Obama, you will *not* be screaming at your TV, “Why doesn’t she bring up X? Why doesn’t she just nail his butt to the wall with Y?”

Because she will bring up X, and Y, and Z, and on and on and on — every single thing that John McCain didn’t know or, ass that he is, refused to say.

You will be *cheering* as you watch Gov. Palin bring up ACORN, Bill Ayers, George Soros, and all the lies Obama told on the campaign trail in 2008, and all the damage he has done to our country.

There’s a lot to bring up, isn’t there, now that he has a record.

If Gov. Palin runs, it’s going to be Obama’s worst nightmare: he’s going to get beaten to a bloody pulp, and not just in front of the whole world, but by a woman.

Oh, did I mention how nasty he’s going to get — how misygonistic he and his supporters (*especially* his supporters) are going to get over the course of the campaign?

How do you think American women are going to like that?

All women — young, old, rich, poor, in-between.

No doubt, some women who’ve never voted, partly because it was always a man running — same old, same old.

Any number crunchers out there? If so, what percent of women do we have to move from the D column into the R column, to hand Obama the shellacking he so richly deserves in 2012?

My guess: we’re talking just a few points.

  18. I can beat Obama. Damn, I should run for POTUS in 2012.

  19. Well said, JR Dogman. Obama is afraid of her. That was obvious in September 2008.

  20. Andreas, remember, you’re not a natural born citizen, right? [But, I guess that doesn't always matter...]
    .

  21. I love Sarah, but she can’t beat Obama at this point in time. The independents aren’t there for her and neither are the quivering republicans. If she thinks last election was vicious, she has no idea what the media would do to her were she to challenge Obama directly for the Presidency. The public still needs alot more persuading that she has Presidential timbre and two years after resigning from office after democraps attacks on her, isn’t sufficient time to show she’s serious about remaining President were she attacked the same as President.

  22. Sarah Palin is doing fantastic work for America right now. I hope she decides to continue in her current role.

If Sarah joins the presidential race, it will prove problematic. She has great support among conservatives, but among the voters in general she has much weaker support, with far too many negatives.

Her negatives are unfairly attached to her, to be sure, thanks to corrupt media and shameless Dem spinners and liars, but those negatives are a fact of life, and aren’t going to go away.

So my message to Sarah would be to keep on nipping at the heels of Obama and his leftist buddies, and abandon the idea of a run for the White House. We need a clear and unobstructed track to insure a victory over Obama.

  23. Obama’s head just exploded! Palin’s been screwing with Obama’s head since the GOP Convention. Everything he’s done to get her out and destroy her has fallen back in his face like pee aimed upwards. That statement of hers will drive him crazy.

As for those of you who says Palin doesn’t have support that’s wide based, just look at the recent election results. People she supported and campaigned for? 75% of them won.

  24. The media can’t do more to her than they’ve done these past two years. Plus, she’s done a lot of damage to them, too. Thanks to her, the media’s credibility is waaaaaay lower than it was.

  25. Thanks, rickl — and you’re right, it was obvious. She wanted to have at Obama, bad. Remember what she said repeatedly, to counter the nonsense charge of “mudslinging”: stating the record of one’s opponent is not only fair, it’s proper.

Unfortunately, in 2008 she was tethered to McCain, and was obligated to follow his lead, no matter how stupid his lead was.

That will not be the case in 2012.

By the way, are you the rickl who posts over at Neo’s?

  26. Re “I love Sarah, but she can’t beat Obama at this point in time.”

Gov. Palin doesn’t have to beat him at this point in time; she’ll have to beat him in two years — that is, after she wins the nomination in a series of hard primaries.

If that happens, Gov. Palin won’t just *beat* Obama — she’ll stomp him to bits.

    She will smash him, Reagan-style.

    Could Palin beat Obama?

[But Palin, who famously clashed with some of Sen. John McCain's top aides when she was the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee, made clear it won't be easy for political strategists to step foot in Palin's world:

"What Todd and I learned was that the view inside the bus was much better than underneath it, and we knew we got thrown under it by certain aides who weren't principled," she said, adding "the experience taught us, yes, to be on guard and be very discerning about who we can and can't trust in the political arena."

Palin, as has long been the case, also directed fire toward members of the media for distorting her record – a challenge, she said, that must be overcome if she runs for president.]

Palin says she can win, but faces uphill climb

okay, the only POLL they link to is the following:

[Interviews with 1,008 adult Americans, including 907 registered

on April 9-11, 2010. The margin of sampling error for results
based on the total sample is plus or minus 3 percentage points

[The CNN poll surveyed 1,006 Americans by telephone between
October 27-30 and carries an overall sampling error of plus or

  35. Any Republican who is willing to actually TAKE IT TO this freak in the White House will win — that is if he is still around. Does anyone, including Palin, have the courage and wisdom to do this? Probably not. But that being said, an America that is willing to choose Maobama over ANY true conservative (I say true conservative, because if a squish like Huckabee or Romney runs it may be preferrable to avoid blame for the inevitable collapse), whether they are willing to really campaign outside the box or not, doesn’t deserve to be free.

  36. Sorry, but all serious polls and indicators say Palin may win the nomination but cannot win the election.

Someone needs to tell her that Bristol winning Dancing With The Stars is NOT an indication she can win a presidential election.

This conservative Republican will NOT vote for her.

  37. Well at least Palin would speak her mind. I am sure she would speak out and question Obama’s eligibility to run in the first place, which would give a voice to the fact that Obama isn’t Constitutionally eligible. That can of worms needs to be placed at the forefront, before America is flushed to oblivion.

At least Sarah Palin has a good character and loves America – more than I can say for millions of Americans who voted for a man because he was black.

  38. Laura #37
Then you are neither conservative or Republican.

  39. I have 10 to 1 says she gets him on a TKO in the frist round.

I’d love to see the secret service agebnts drag his scrawny butt over the rock Sarah climbed on TV Sunday.

Also, 10 to 1 says Laura #37 voted Obama in 2008.

  40. Yes, Phil, I am.

Worshipping Sarah Palin is not a requirement for either.

You can live in your echo chamber and play the big man on teh internets, but all the data show that Palin cannot win the election. She might win the nomination, but cannot win the election, and the vast majority of Republicans and small “c” conservatives do not want her to run and will not vote for her if she does. She and her base are becoming the very thing they say they stand against: Obama and his base. The vast majority of America see this and do not like it at all. They are leary of her attention-whoring, her narcissism, her grasping, shrill nature, and her willful refusal to educate herself on foreign policy matters. The fact that she’s a quitter doesn’t help, either.

A Palin run is a guaranteed win for Obama/the Dems. Guaranteed.

You can bully and call names all you want, but people will vote their conscience at the end of the day, and she doesn’t have the votes. That’s just a basic mathematical equation.

  41. NoMan, I voted for Bush, both times.

Again, posturing in the comboxes on the ‘net means zero. Might make you feel all big in the moment, but it doesn’t mean anything.

Whatever “No Man” thinks of “Laura” in these comboxes means zero when it comes to election day.

She won’t win. She has far less support among Republicans, Conservatives, conservative Republicans, Independents and moderate Dems than she or her base think. The numbers just aren’t there.

If you want to continue to bully and call names like a bunch of borderline middle-schoolers, knock yourselves out. Your ridiculous behavior ain’t gonna morph into votes, though.

  42. Laura,

“Echo Chamber”? Odd, I usually read that phrase from a visiting leftist, not a self proclaimed conservative.

Anyway, I read these statistics this morning published at Powerline. Being a conservative I’m certain you are familiar with this blog.

    http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2010/11/027711.php

  43. Whatever, Palin has my vote. Really who would you vote for if Palin was the Republican candidate against Obama? Anyone saying Obama needs serious medical attention. Anyone saying they would not vote should consider that their abstinence from voting is a vote for Obama.

  44. @Chisum — exactly — you have become the thing you claim you hate.

@czemark — Palin will split the vote and Obama will win. It’s not a question of Palin v. Obama (although many Americans may just decide they’ll stick with the devil they know and suck it up ’til 2016), but rather one of Palin v. Obama v. an Independent (or Palin v. Obama v. a Republican).

Palin needs to listen to the entirety of the party, not just her base, and she needs to pay attention to the Independent vote.

She quit her job as governor and has done zilch to convince the majority of Americans that she’s a serious person. She’s played to her base and she’s sought the spotlight and personal fame and fortune rather than prove to American that she’s about all Americans. Actually, she’s done very little to prove that she’s about anyone but herself.

  45. Two years ago people were predicting that the Democrats would be gaining senators in the 2012 election and that the House would be solidly Democratic for the next 40 years. A lot can change in two years, and any predictions of who can win the 2012 election are worth little. Palin has high negatives, but that is because she has endured the full Alinsky from the Left. Other Republicans look better only because they have not endured the same treatment. The Democrats are already doing their opposition research to get ready for the 2012 election–they are masters of negative campaigning, and none do it better then the Obama team because they are sneaky with how they do it.

Palin has a good shot at the nomination because she is by far the most charismatic of the potential candidates, and she may be the smartest of them as well. Her biggest problem is that she is a woman, and the country may not be ready for a woman president. Obama was helped by race, but Palin will be hurt by gender.

  46. @Chisum

So you’re showing me stats that support my position — Palin is the least likely to beat Obama.

And that’s among the names being bandied about now — who knows who will emerge in the coming months. Remember, the Obama phenom. exploded rather late in the process.

  47. I’m a huge fan of Sarah Palin. She has done, and is doing, great work for the conservative cause, and therefore for America. But I won’t support her in the presidential primary if she decides to run, if there are other equally conservative candidates that poll better against Obama. Seems like a fairly reasonable position to take.

I’m very concerned about the negatives that dog Sarah, the ones she can’t seem to shake, that might interfere with her ability to win. Above all else, I want Obama removed from office, and will support the candidate most likely to accomplish that.

And just to state what should be painfully obvious, if Sarah does run, and becomes the nominee, I will vote for her in a heartbeat over that disgrace who sits in the Oval Office today.

  48. @Chisum — exactly — you have become the thing you claim you hate.

    Laura,

Please enlighten me. What have I claimed to hate?

Btw, that was a nonsensical response to my post. You didn’t respond to my content. Particularly to the statistics that I linked to. Statistics that directly contest your belief that Palin can’t win.

Can you do that? Address content?

  49. I hope you anti=Palin type aren’t considering Romney or Gingrich. If not them, then who do you want as the Republican candidate.

  50. Laura,

Here’s what you wrote and what I responded to:

She won’t win. She has far less support among Republicans, Conservatives, conservative Republicans, Independents and moderate Dems than she or her base think. The numbers just aren’t there.

Now you’ve moved the goal posts with this:

Palin is the least likely to beat Obama.

And you wonder why people here think you’re a troll.

  54. CHRISTIE IN 2012!!!

  55. Christe/Palin

    or

    Palin/Christie

  56. Laura,
I didn’t call you anything. I merely pointed out that you would be neither a conservative or Republican if you refuse to vote for Sarah Palin. If she wins the Republican nomination, then the majority of the party will have spoken, which you say she should listen to, and the possibility of her running against and splitting the vote with another Republican will be impossible. You don’t seem to want her to have the opportunity to prove that she desrves the nomination. One of the things Palin encourages is open and competitive primaries. Sounds to me like you would rather she not compete, so maybe Mittens can run unopposed?
Let the process work, or should we all submit to your all knowing expertise regards politics?

  57. We don’t need Romney, Gingrich, Huckabee, or any of the other retreads. Harold Stassen is dead.

What we need is a new face (new to presidential politics) to energized the voters. Who would that be? Well, we still have time to find out.

  58. well i see the Mitt concerned trolls are out in forces saying Palin can’t win the genral. Well I got news for Mitt fans there is no way he could win against Obama. healthcare will be off the table, immigration will be off the table, Obama will tie him to Wall street, outsourcing and hiring illegal immigrants to do his landscaping. Mitt will lose the Latino vote, he will lose the black vote, he will cause conservatives to stay home and Obama will waltz into the WH for 4 more years. nominating a rich, white guy who has not been vetted will get you a big loss in 2012. Obama will take the populaist mantle and the incumbant mantle and bury the rich wall street guy, he will use racism to divide the country.

thos ethat think becaus ethe media has not tarnished Mitt and other INOs mean they ar ebetter shot than Palin needs to think again. Mitt and RINOville have not been vetted.

I can see Gloria bringing out Mitt’s illegal landscaper in OCt 2012.

  59. so do we want to nominate someone vetted to an inch of her skin or one that has not been vetted for the last 2 years. all the poll numbers so far have shown the difference. a vetted candidate recieves lower poll numbers than a non vetted candidate. However once the candidate gets vetted his poll numbers will quickly drop . and the vetted candidate will hav ethe higher poll numbers form that point forward. Palin lost about 25pts when she got Vetted. She has rebounded and regained about 15 of those pts. Mitt will not have 2 years to recover from the “vetting” Obama and the MSM will give him. he will have 2 months max.

so the polls showing Mitt ahead of Obama by 10pts? and Palin tied or a pt or two down to Obama are not factoring that in.

If Palin runs it becomes a rac eon policy. If Mitt runs it becomes the Oct surprise election all over again. think Meg whitman.

  60. Re ” I got news for Mitt fans there is no way he could win against Obama. healthcare will be off the table, immigration will be off the table, Obama will tie him to Wall street, outsourcing and hiring illegal immigrants to do his landscaping. “If Palin runs it becomes a rac eon policy. If Mitt runs it becomes the Oct surprise election all over again. think Meg whitman.”

Indeed. We need *bold* colors — *serious* policy differences and a *philosophically-committed* conservative candidate with the combined doggedness and charisma that will be *essential* to explaining those differences to the electorate *over the heads of the MSM*.

The country is nearing a tipping point; this next election, it’s all-in: it will decide whether we start back along the path to reclaiming the Constitution as our guiding star, or, instead, accept as inevitable a political ruling class like they have in European countries.

    That’s it.

This country is still center-right. That is why, in regard to a number of issues, *Obama* ran not just as a centrist Democrat, but as a *conservative* Democrat.

Do you remember his pledge to “line by line through the federal budget”?

Do you remember his promise that we will “pay as we go”?

He ran as a fiscal conservative, which is what America wanted after GWB.

The primary factor that has been pushing us toward statism is *not* the Democrat Party, who have to get elected first in order to do their miserable “fundamental transformation” of the country.

The MSM is the main engine behind the statist assault on our republic.

    They gave us Obama.

They also gave us both Bushes.

For years, Republicans have been forced to react constantly to the MSM’s distorted presentation of reality.

The MSM is at political war against the majority of Americans — therefore, we must wage political war against the MSM.

We must must ridicule them, expose their lies, and, ultimately, ignore them — we must make them irrelevant by going over their heads.

We have the Internet, Fox, and talk radio.

We must not allow them to pick our candidates ever again.

czekmark has it right. If the DNC runs The Wonce in 2012, or even if they run someone else, come to think of it, I will vote for whomever wins the GOP primaries. In fact, I’ll not only vote for him or her, I will support the Republican candidate for POTUS even if that person turns out to be the nominee I absolutely did not want to win the candidacy. Should my pick not win the primaries, I WILL NOT support him or her of s/he pulls a Murkowski and tries to run as a write-in or independent/third party candidate. (Calling himself/herself the TEA Party candidate WILL NOT win me over. Instead, a repulsive move like that would sicken me and turn me against the would-be candidate for all time because it would prove an interest is self greater than an interest in serving this country.) After the elections are over and the GOP candidate becomes President Elect, then we can voice our criticisms…and do so constructively and with the intent of letting our new POTUS know what’s expected and what’s not acceptable.

Anyway, if people are thinking and their heads aren’t plugged too far up their asses in 2012, we will support our favorites in the GOP primaries and then, like mature adults (as opposed to behaving like Rove, Krauthammer, Murkowski and others did after some of the 2010 GOP primaries for US congress) support whomever the GOP runs against him/her for POTUS.

as you must know by now, i don’t place too much trust in the average poll predicting dog catcher, never mind president, especially these days.. not to mention the obvious, like how many or who were asked what, etc. sorry, but in a country with a population over 300 million, i’m a tad skeptical that only up to a thousand or so (most actually only in the hundreds) people being polled is going to nail anything to the floor so to speak.. that said, one sure can discern the more honest vs the biased polls a lot better than they used to.. that being said, glad to see Sarah Palin (R) @ 47% beat Barack Obama (D-inc) @ 45% via a PPP survey of 1,176 people (more than average polling number) Montana (and just for one state, hmmm) voters (good, not just likely whatevers) from November 10th to 13th (okay, no rush there). The margin of error for the survey was +/- 2.9% (lower spread than the usual as well).. thumbsup!!
