Michele Bachmann Drops Out of Leadership Race

Rep. Michele Bachmann dropped out of the GOP leadership race in the House tonight.
The Politico reported:

Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann dropped out of the race for House Republican Conference chair on Wednesday night, ensuring that the GOP’s leadership elections will go on without any serious competition.

In a statement sent to a handful of reporters Wednesday evening, the tea party favorite said that Texas Rep. Jeb Hensarling has her “enthusiastic support for his candidacy” for the top messaging post in the GOP.

“Jeb has demonstrated his commitment to limited government, reduced spending and lower taxes and he will be a strong voice for the Tea Party’s call for these values,” according to Bachmann’s statement, sent by spokesman Sergio Gor.

Bachmann was facing what appeared to be flagging support within the GOP caucus in her bid for the leadership position, even though she had touted support from the tea party movement.
