They may have to order a few more of those grief counselors…
Sarah Palin’s Alaska documentary broke all records last night on TLC.
But, please don’t take her seriously.
Via The Hollywood Reporter:
Sarah Palin’s documentary / travelogue / reality / biopic shattered TLC ratings records Sunday night.
The debut of Sarah Palin’s Alaska delivered a whopping 5 million viewers.
The first episode of the eight-part series was the most-watched program launch in TLC’s history.
Some are calling the series a 2012 campaign ad, while producer Mark Burnett has defended the show as “completely non political.”
Tim Goodman’s THR review said both Palin’s fans and critics will find what they’re looking for in the show.

In the two second scene where she’s hauling the net she worked more than all Democrats on the Hill together in their entire life.
The huskies like her too, and animals have a very fine nose for nice people.
Joan K. commented:
It was a “flippin” great show, too!
NeoKong commented:
That’s awesome. In one episode she outdrew Keith Olbermann for an entire week and beat out Spitzer/Parker for a whole month.
The lefties are going to have a hard time attacking the Palin family in 2012 after they have been in America’s living room so much on T.V.
Her daughter Bristol had weeks of positive exposure on DWTS and people adored her and they won’t take kindly to those who will try to smear her again.
Palin has learned that she has to control her own media and not have her image filtered through the lame stream media who will only villify her.
Keep it up Sarah.
Elmo commented:
Great and she had to compete against NFL!
Mark1957 commented:
I thought the show last night was great!!!! Nothing shakes Sarah at all, she and her family were fishing for salmon while a momma grizzly and two cubs played twenty feet away.
Sean commented:
To be fair, it didn’t break ALL records. That Jon/Kate monstrosity has the record for most viewers @ 10mm.
RedBeard commented:
If Sarah Palin does nothing else at all, her ability to send lefties into sputtering spittle-flecked addle-brained incoherent spasms is enough.
Dan commented:
Beautiful Sarah and Family ! Way to Go ! ! !
RefudiateObama2012 commented:
And to top it off, “refudiate” was chosen as the word of the year.
Kevin commented:
Let’s see, do I want a POTUS that does not freak even when a damn grizzly bear is fighting with another yards away, or one who wears mom jeans to a baseball game a throws like a girly-man?
Who do YOU think would better stand up to our countries enemies?
Joel commented:
What a wonderful show that showcased the Alaska wilderness. Sarah Palin is a true American.
Paul Revere commented:
I saw not a political candidate, rather a mother and family that loved Alaska and their country. The reason the women of the left in particular, and the whole left in general, hate her is because she’s just to “normal” with traditional values. I think she inspires us and brings out the best in her country’s men and women.
jenny commented:
I thought it was a great show! Can’t wait to see the next one.
RefudiateObama2012 commented:
Not a bad week for as an idiot. Her QE2 speech was acclaimed by many including the WSJ Editorial Board, her Open Letter To The Congressional Freshman was praised, her show is a hit, and refudiate was recognized by the Oxford Dictionary. If she was intelligent, I wonder what she could do? Maybe she could make gold from base metals. Afterall, as an idiot, she can make liberal heads explode from over 4000 miles away. She can relieve the bladders and loosen the bowels of really smart people without ever laying hands upon them.
Joanne commented:
I watched it. I’ve been to Alaska a number of times, even have a frightening tale to tell. Alaska is beautiful, and it was nice to see the beautiful scenery.
jainphx commented:
Hey Nancy look there are some Grizzly bears over there! Nancy! Nancy! Where the heck did she go, look her footprints are heading straight for Washington.
Joanne commented:
Actually it was a brown bear with cubs – not a grizzly, but whatever.
JKB commented:
The insult to injury for the Lefty-Heads is that instead of coming to California next spring, I predict Alaska will be full to the brim with tourists.
The enviro types are whining she got to close to the bears. They seem to not understand photography. In any case, in Alaska they have a simple method to determine if you got to close to the bears, if you have bite marks, you got to close.

True Sean, but “Debut” is key here. The show broke records for a “premier”. Jon & Kate wasn’t a debut, but reactionary to tabloids at the time.
Other than that….excellent show! If only she didn’t have to compete with Sunday Night Football!
kansas commented:
Apparently the petition drive to have TLC drop the show resulted in bupkis. Ha.

Grizzly Bears are a type of Brown Bear. So is the Kodiak.
Any of them coming at you would be unpleasant.

Palin is a vey likeable person who talks to us not at us. In a typical cabinet, there are cabinet secy’s that know somethingabout their dept and run thins. Like Pres. Reagan, he set the agenda and the secy’s ran things.
there was a meeting about the soviets early in the administration. the cabinet secy if they had something to say, said it and when it was Pres Reagan’s turn, he sid, “my idea on the soviets is ‘we win and they lose’.
so there is some benefit in simpicity of direction. Palin seems lie a real savvy common sense
person. And as we know “sense isn’t common.”

Mahdi Al-Dajjal commented:
Yep, the entire Enviro-Wacko Left is now calling for a boycot of the entire show claiming that Palin got too close to those bears!
But, the Enviro-Wack Left celebrated the life of Leftist Nutcase Timothy Treadwell, who lived among the bears for years with his girlfriend and even got so close to them that he (and his girlfriend) eventually got eaten whole by a bear. An autopsy of the bear (killed for having been suspected of eating a Leftist), found the remains of Treadwell and his girlfriend in the bear’s stomach. The Enviro-Wack Leftists in Hollyweird made a movie celebrating Timothy’s life of “getting close to bears”.
On the other hand, Sarah Palin gets within 50 yards of a bear and the entire Enviro-Wacko Movement comes unhinged!

The Alaskan Brown Bear is the largest bear there is. And with cubs is really dangerous. They are lucky they were not on land.

See Donald Young get capped…see a Chicago election as you’ve never seen before…watch as Tony Rezko takes the witness stand…hang on as Rev. Wright moves and shakes the souls of Trinity Church..
Move over Sarah. America needs more that the beauty of our great wilderness and moral people working together.
We’ve gotta see Barack Obama’s Chicago (Underbelly)

Palin / Petraeus 2012 ?!
Lord have mercy, we would hardly have to fight our enemies anymore: they would be killing each other trying to get to the front of the “surrender-here-while-there’s-still-time” lineup at the White House front gate!
Then there would also be the “Grovel and fake loyalty” lineup for our “friends” like the French, and finally the “Load up now on some really awesome neighborhood-quieting whup-ass at deep discounts” express line for the Aussies, Brits, and Canucks!
Hilarity would ensue.
Don Rodrigo commented:
Karl Rove thinks this reality show makes Palin an “unserious candidate.”
He never heard of Reagan hosting “General Electric Theater?”
Also, couldn’t she have some Congressional Democrats along to feed to the bears?
No Man commented:
Sarah was great!
I bet Obama would have crapped in his panties if he tried to climb that rock. The secret service would have had to carry him.
And, she’d have had 15,000,000 more viewers except for the football game.

OLD FAN commented:
Congratulations to the Palin Franchise. I have long held the opinion, it is great for Conservatives, those on the right side of history today, to have an attractive Celebrity in the Public Arena. After all the fake leftist Celebs pushed in our face, the irony is pure gold, seeing a big named Republican garner huge attention.
The show should get ratings, for the hype is so vast. Many predictably tuned in to either see a winner, a train wreck, a wimper, a bust, a success, a joy, etc. Our Base has been peddled the fan fare by many for so long as well, of course they would want to check in to see how it went.
The problem for Mrs. Palin, like her appearances on FOX, the downward slide will again begin, for this is just not going to hold interest and grow attention – it will become the opposite. The Palin Family is milking the cow, as any wise American would.
But in all honesty, the Palins and Palin devotees were not honest about this being a ‘reality tv show’ – it is. And it isn’t the most attractive offering either. It is another money maker, with enormous contradictions – clearly managed with a Producer – setting up a vivid problem with the genuine image. But, to have a Conservative offering on TV is welcome – just it does reveal a real strange self interest and a very strange desire for self exploitation (not really conservative principles – especially in regards to the family).
Long ago, we talked about how damaging it was to Sarah’s reputation, to abandon the responsibility of the Alaskan Governorship. It has been a big blow to her image. We saw many try to make the most un-conservative excuses, like the rationale to run away from typical leftist lawsuits. But none if it worked. And we all knew the Palins were eager to peddle the celebrity, after becoming famous by taking on the Maverick VP position.
This reality show does not help with her reputation for serious leadership potential. It plays to obvious stereotype, and again reveals a lack of serious nature in regards to politics. Sarah needs to grow if she is up to make a go for the Presidency, and this tends to reveal she is either just going to wing it again – which is a huge mistake, or simply is not interested.
And this reality show, comes after enormous mistakes by the Palin Franchise, the Tea Party Express, a number of my own favorite Conservative Bloggers, who foolishly enabled the Democratic Party in a number of Senate Races around the Country. It was on my mind while watching, thinking of Miller flopping in Alaska, the Delaware fiasco, etc.
The show is predictable Palin in it’s fashionable efforts, and although I like the Palin Family – fine Americans, this effort again lowers the bar for my personal opinion in regards to serious Leadership potential. This isn’t Presidential material in my humble opinion.
I can wish the Palins the best with it, and hope many enjoy it, especially having a Conservative in Image as a Celebrity.
But Image Identity movements are always weak in politics. And it is becoming increasingly clear, the Palin effort is fashion based – image. If we want to have a strong offering in 2012, to avoid the horrid mistakes of Maverick Ticket failure, the O’Donnell disaster, etc., we need a far more serious Candidate for the nomination.

DISAPPOINTING RATINGS FOR PALIN: The season two “Reunion Show” of Flavor of Love, starring rapper Flavor Flav — a man best known for wearing a large clock — beat out “Alaska’s Sarah Palin”, attracting 5.95 million viewers to VH-1. For those keeping score at home, Flavor of Love is perhaps best known for that very special episode (Emmy written all over it) during which a woman takes a dump on a staircase.

“But Image Identity movements are always weak in politics.”
That’s not correct. Politics are built up on image identity moments. How else do you explain that, for example, the Socialists here in Vienna, after years of catastrophic policies, are still in power after October’s elections? Politics is not about policies. It’s about how you sell yourself to the voters. There Sarah’s going one hell of a job. Much better than anybody else.

I wonder: Why that ludicrous individual Old Fan/Brooklyn makes such an enormous effort in order to denigrate Palin and writes those extended diatribes, only to be laughed out by fellow contributors?
What motives drive Old Fart/Blaabablyn?
Is he drawing some kind of quasi-sexual pleasure from his hallucinations in which he sees himself as Ron Jeremy-type sex-machine raping Sarah and seeing her moaning as he shoves himself repeatedly into her?
There is NO DOUBT that he is MASTURBATING himself to the rhytm of his montonous jabber he is inflicting on us weak after weak.
Stop doing this Blaablyn! You shall go blind!

i agree, they don’t come any more REAL than PALIN!!
that said..
she resigned from POLITICS to save Alaska from being bankrupted by incessant costly nonsense law suits, not to mention her family being consistently attacked inside & out from all sides.. hello??
that said..
she’s never so much as stated she’d run for dog catcher, never mind the PRESIDENCY..
that said..
if SARAH does run in 2012, the main reason will not be so much because she decided to, it will be because “we the people” decided she would run for US, end of drama..
that said..
what are people so afraid of, especially Carl Rove..
what is it, male presidents only, women can’t be CIC’s too??
no Joan of Arcs allowed..
what, we live in a gay caballero dominated world now??

“It was only a brown bear”. Get real. Those bears looked long and lanky because they had just come to life after a sixth month hibernation. Nonetheless, don’t be fooled A mother with cubs is dangerous, dangerous, dangerous. Some folks look at grizzlies as cute, if unwieldy pets. To anyone who believes that, I have but two words. Timothy Treadwell. Google it.
Bordo commented:
Big deal. The episode of “Jon & Kate Plus Eight” where the two idiots broke up had almost double the numbers of this program, just a bit over 10 million viewers.
The real tell will be in the succeeding episodes. If the ratings hold, it’s a hit. If not, it was just a curiosity tune-in. Also, the demographics of the audience skewed pretty old. Not many of the viewers fit the desirable 18- to 49-year-old segment so beloved by advertisers.
