Do you remember this idiot’s comments at the Katrina Telethon?
Kanye West’s dropped his famous “George Bush hates black people” bomb while begging for donations.
That comment, no doubt, did wonders for the fundraiser.
What a doofus.
This week popular former President George W. Bush told far left activist Matt Lauer that West’s comment was one of the most disgusting moments of his presidency.

He talks about 9/11, about Donald Rumsfeld and a lot more. But he also talks about Kanye West.
Yes, that Kanye West. While he’ll probably love the shout-out, his comments after Hurricane Katrina during a live telethon had a profound negative effect on Pres. Bush. Here’s the exchange:

For the record… More Louisianans say Former President George W. Bush handled Katrina better than Obama handled the 2010 BP oil spill.

Obviously I can’t speak for Dubya himself, but it seems equally obvious that for the president to respond to a single citizen in a critical way would be unfair to that individual, and improper for one in that position. It would also be demeaning to the tradition of the presidency.
The man in the Oval Office serves to represent ALL the people, so calling out one citizen in complaint or condemnation would violate that relationship of trust. In short, it would not be ‘presidential’.
Of course, all that has been done recently, which helps explain the sense many have that the current resident does not appreciate the position he has been elevated to. No one who is close to Dubya or even Clinton could imagine either of them saying publicly that a specific citizen ‘acted stupidly’ or was an ‘enemy’.
Additionally, Bush 43 is a man of sincere prayer. A person of devout faith is secure personally, so he’s less tempted to foul the discourse by complaining. Humility brings Grace.
Certainly Kanye West’s accusation should have been universally condemned, but not by the president himself. The fact that it wasn’t may have contributed to most of the pain his false accusation caused.
That pain was (and clearly still is) massive, which is one aspect of the asymmetrical conflict between Leftists and conservatives. Those who cast aspersions casually rarely appreciate the severity of what they commit, and one who does appreciate it cannot respond in kind.
By our words, we can easily bring anguish to others, and bring ruin upon ourselves. Let us then speak wisely.
