What a moment!
George Bush 41 and George Bush 43 entered the stadium together tonight to throw out the first ball at the World Series.
THE CROWD ROARED.
Then GW threw a strike to home plate catcher Nolan Ryan to start off game 4.
Barbara Bush was taking photos in the stands.

What a wonderful moment.
Sorry, Major League Baseball deleted my cliip. Here’s another one.

By the way…. They just showed Barbara Bush in the stands. She’s scoring the game.

  1. Nice pitch. No girly pants either.

  2. I watched it. It was awesome seeing both George and GW Bush together. And the pitch was right on the money!

  3. Obummer only pitches WAY outside and left. And he throws like a girl.

  4. No girly throw for W!! And, god love and protect H….he seems so frail.

BTW….I thought that Lyle Lovett did a fine rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. Very lovely.

  5. Bush 41 is getting up there. I hope he’s done with skydiving!

  6. I sure hope “sissy britches” obzo was watching

  7. Great clip. Glad to see him fire up and throw a strike. No hesitation, no drama. Presidential like. Imagine that.

I’ve forgotten what that looks like….

  8. No mom jeans. Can actually throw a baseball. Not a muslim. Damn straight we miss him.

  9. Brought tears to my eyes. I miss America. Let’s take it back. Is everybody psyched?

  10. I’m a fan of George W. Bush, but truth must be told: he threw from way in front of the mound.

  11. Barbara taking pics is too cute!

  12. I was sad to see that the elder was so stove up. Junior looked like it was a second consideration to throw the ball, just ran his arm back and threw it in with no effort or thought. After the throw Junior immediately turns back to dad to make sure he is ok, just like it should be. mpw

  13. Yes, I do miss you.

  14. Sort of makes you wonder what would happen if any Obamaton had the temerity to boo Dubya in that crowd.

It’s good to see him. Comforting, like, that he’s out there and probably ready to step in if and when we get nuked, have had enough, and run That Person and his wife out of the White House.

Note to Al-Queda, next time aim for whatever you think your main targets are (and frankly I don’t care if you do manage to get the White House), but don’t forget there’s a Big League target sitting in Texas, too. And he knows where you are.

  15. Two fine men, may God bless them both.

  16. Awesome

  17. Historical, can’t/won’t happen with another pair of Presidential father/son for a heck of a long time. I cried.

  18. A video of two real men who love and have served their country with dignity, unlike the nimrod that currently occupies 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

  19. And he put something on it! No pussy throw!
Man, I miss him in the WH!

  20. Thanks for posting the video. Our television is not hooked up. This video has tears coming down my face. So glad to see the smiling faces of Laura and Barbara, too.

  21. Yes, we do miss him . . . a lot. More than we ever thought we would.

I saw a poll yesterday that showed B.O.’s approval rate lower than President Bush 43′s. That only took 20 months. That is how bad B.O. is.

  22. 41 and 43: When men were men.

  23. George Bush is one of the reasons why we have Barack Obama as president today. Let’s not forget that!

  24. Was awesome to watch!

    Go Rangers!

  25. I’m “informed” by the whackjob left that this is “proof” “the media” is controlled by conservatives.

    *snicker*

  26. This is what an American President looks like. Absence does indeed make the heart fonder.

  27. Rob from way up there ^^^

Like he has to? Take a look at this, then call me back. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZnVL-ji0tg

  28. Heartwarming. Wonderful. Joyous. Thanks for posting – this is the boost, the shot in the arm, that I needed to keep pushing through until Tuesday!! Yes, I miss you, GW!!! Godspeed to you and your family – to both Georges!!

  29. Two real man presidents and two of the classiest first ladies ever.

  30. “Historical, can’t/won’t happen with another pair of Presidential father/son for a heck of a long time. I cried.”

Not a father and son, but a mother and daughter,

    Sarah and Piper

  31. Great pitch – like others have said, he tossed that pitch like it was nothing.

The real moment though was seeing a son’s obvious love for his father…

  32. I watched it, I loved it. The roar of the crowd was heartwarming. The whole thing brought a tear to my manly face.

And yes, I do miss him.

  33. I miss Bush. Couldn’t stand the man when he was on office, but I sure as heck wish he was still in office compared to the marxist radical apologizer-in-chief.

At least with Bush, I didn’t feel like he was trying to screw America and Americans on purpose.

Yep, I have bought one of those “Miss me yet?”.

    Great pitch!!

  34. What’s wrong with Bush 41′s leg?

  35. Odd that only some “historic” moments get big press.

Presidential father and son. Son tossing out the pitch for the first home game at the series for the team that he used to own, in his home state.

  36. You know, it was nice having a president who actually liked America.

“George Bush is one of the reasons why we have Barack Obama as president today. Let’s not forget that!”

NO! The reason we have B.O. in the whitehouse is because the American people voted for him thinking he was something that he was not…simple as that.

By your reasoning, we should have all voted for John F. Kerry (and his virtuous sidekick) in 2004. At least with GWB, we had a few years of 5% unemployment before Nancy, Barney, Reid, Dodd and the gang took over in 2007.

  38. “Karen

George Bush is one of the reasons why we have Barack Obama as president today. Let’s not forget that!”

It really is all Bush’s fault then.

Let me guess, you voted for “change”….

    lol

  39. Don’t forget the strike he threw in the 2001 World Series! Great video with interview at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evb489N11Q4 – Loved the line around 1:48 from GWB: “I didn’t want people to think that their President was incapable of finding the plate.” Heck, our current President can’t even find his… never mind.

  40. Poetic justice

    Obama to an empty stadium.

    GWB to thunderous applause.

And in only two short years.

  41. I must admit… that was an extraordinary moment.

  42. Anyone see Barbara keeping score?

  43. For me, watching the video was almost like reliving a happier time from my youth, yet it’s been only a short while since W left office. The Bush’s were far from perfect, but we knew they loved their country. How changed everything is now.

  44. How wonderful to see a real man throw the ball.

  45. Richard M,

    So true!

  46. That was a GREAT moment!
It is so beautiful to see that America has not forgotten what greatness and respect mean.

  47. I am sure proud of George W. Bush, I think he is fantastic.

  48. Laura and Barbara! Man I miss them too! Proud of their country!!!

  49. Aside from father and son, how about that gigantic American FLAG on the field? :) Nice touch, and fitting for the occasion. Now had it been BHO, he would have been surrounded by umpteen secret service guys, together with a chauffeur and someone to test-taste his hot dog.

  50. Can anyone imagine Michelle Antoinette attending a game and keeping score! Bwahahahah.

Never. At least not until they start serving lobster in the stands.

  51. Can we say together, Damn, We Miss You! All of you that say he is the reason for Obama, please, at least be silent, we have had to listen to your blaming of Bush ever since right after 9/11. Bush and his father were proud to be American and never apologized for it. Something the ONE can never say.

  52. No way is George the reason we have Obama today. It wasn’t like George could run again, McCain was a crappy candidate and no one liked him, not enough people could hold their nose and vote for him.

  53. That was awesome! It brought tears to my eyes. Have you ever noticed how much President Bush smiles? GW is a man of great character, God bless him.

LOL with the mom jeans comments & yes, I miss him too!

    oh…………… & GO RANGERS! :-)

  54. @KMarx — “No mom jeans. Can actually throw a baseball. Not a muslim.” LOL! No kidding.

And I’m right with you, those of you who teared up. Me, too. Dear God I miss having a real President.

@NanGee: “That Person”. I think that’s how I’ll refer to him from now on. And yes, somehow it’s comforting knowing W is still out there.

    God bless him.

  55. The moral of the story is never elect a president who throws like a girl.

  56. Rob #11,

It looked like he threw from the front edge of the mound, probably because that’s where they positioned him and his dad.

The ball had a little heat on it, and while I wouldn’t call it a “frozen rope”, it didn’t arc much, and Ryan only moved his arm a few inches to make the catch.

IMO, he wouldn’t have had any trouble throwing from the rubber and Ryan could have been behind the plate, rather than straddling it.

Maybe Obama should ask him for some lessons before next season’s Nationals’ opening game.

Really nice seeing the two men together, with the wives in the stands.

  57. #24, I am not joining you in a chorus of criticisms of Dubya. Not today, with the menace with have sitting in the WH. GWB made his share of mistakes, but I’m not going to dump on him the miscalculations of the American people who bought into the “Hope and Change” promulgated by Obama.

It was so touching to see both of them come in in the golf cart. No airs, no pretensions. It did move me.

  58. And when the libs loose Tuesday will THAT be Bush’s fault also? Grow a brain.

  59. It choked me up too. I recorded it and replayed it twice.

  60. That was a sweet scene. Americana.

  61. That’s how a MAN throws a baseball.

  62. Now, we’d see a teleprompter on the mound! these are 2 great men!

  63. the pitch he gave in the 2001 series, right after 9/11…

it was beautiful, and performed in a bullet proof vest.

  64. We have Barry because dead people voted for him and more then once! And…. foreign money bought the thugs to get him there.

  65. No one is perfect, not even the Presidents Bush, but I never once doubted their love for God, country and family. They are both class acts. Sadly for us, the imposter occupying the WH now has none of those qualities. Let’s send Obummer and his minions packing ASAP.

  66. Im a rare person who got to vote for bush 4 times. twice as govenor and twice as president. while not a conservative president, he was a class act and a patriot. He loves America, unlike the current occupant of the WH.
This one is evil and Malignant. Cannot wait till the current occupant is a piece of road kill.
Did I say that out loud?? powder is dry.
    God save America.

  67. I remember that while I was active duty Marine Corps, GW went to Camp Lejeune and ran a better PFT than I could as a 38 year old Major…He earned a lot of respect with Marines for being a physical stud…And later, around 9-11, we found out his backbone was made of steel.

  68. God bless both of these former presidents.

Made me cry. I miss GWB so much.

  69. GW as president did some awfully good things, and made some big mistakes, but not because he was trying to screw the country. Now Obama well thats a different story! I honestly think he hates this country and the people, and governs accordingly.

  70. Such a poignant moment. (sigh)

  71. Awesome post, Scott (#75). Semper Fi. (My dad was an Iwo vet. I love the Marines!)

  72. Ok, I get it. Obama’s so bad we love Bush, but don’t forget who helped destroy the GOP brand name to the point where a marxist could get elected in the United States.

A 400 Billion dollar deficit is better than a 1.5 Trillion dollar deficit, but that doesn’t make Bush a conservative.

  73. The World Series, the cheering crowd, the American flag, and two faithful sons of the greatest country on earth sharing a moment on a ball field. Yeah, I miss him…and I miss his father. On Tuesday we’ll start to straighten the course of our country. November, 2012 we’ll finish the job.

  74. #66 Mama Winger, nice to read you again! Those LGF days were fun until some one went crazy. We need commentary from great Americans

  75. …and, just to pile on, did anyone notice that W was driving the cart? In a similar situation, what do you think the chances would be that O would be driving, or, if he were to drive, that he’d look silly doing so?

  76. Karen

George Bush is one of the reasons why we have Barack Obama as president today. Let’s not forget that.

No Karen, but I suspect you are.

  77. Barry would just drive it in the ditch!

  78. GHWB and GWB = class acts

    BHO = class punk

Can’t wait to read Dubya’s book next month. GHW Bush’s book, “All the Best” is a really good read.

  79. Biff—- Obama can’t drive he doesn’t have a drivers license. Hey for that matter where’s the damn birth certificate. How do we know who this schlemiel actually is?

  80. On, January 2nd Sarah Palin will be elected our next president and will be a president that will go down in history for being our finest ever.

  81. Sarah Palin proves that conservative women are not only bright and beautiful, but have the guts it takes to make a difference. This country couldn’t do better in my opinion. I’m just curious what is January the 2nd?

  82. God blessed us with these two men. And my thanks to the citizens of the US who overrode my judgment twice (but not the third time).

  83. I felt safe with him. It makes you long for yesterday.

  84. Whoops! Forgot to add 2012

    01/02/2012

  85. The impression I get from watching George W. Bush throw that pitch is how much he’s honored to be part of the ceremony of the World Series, that he’s happy to share it with his father, and he knows it’s not about him, so he doesn’t make a production out of it in an attempt to draw attention to himself. He just does what he was asked to do, does it as well as he can (which is pretty good), and then steps aside so everyone can get on with doing what they came for, playing or watching a baseball game.

It’s that approach that has made him a President with class. It was never about him, he just did what he was elected to do as well as he could and then got out of the way so the people themselves could do what they need to do. I wish more politicians approached governance like that.

  86. Don’t be absurd people. Obama loves his country too.
It’s just that his country isn’t our country.

  87. Never thought a baseball pitch would make me cry.

  88. Did it again…. :(

    November 2nd 2012

Sorry… i am tired and i am going to bed

  89. I only hope that when ex-president Obama appears to throw out a first pitch in the 2013 World Series, we can all give him a nice friendly greeting like this.

  90. Best Halloween Salute EVAH!!!

  91. Brian

Only in his dreams. I will act a little childish and give him my middle finger and boooooooo at the same time! Can’t stand the Kenyan fraud.

  92. I look at ’41 and realize that he has essentially spent his entire life in service FOR our country … and I have to wonder what possessed we d’uh people to replace him with Bill Clinton. God help us all.

George H.W. Bush was more of a man at 17 than the current occupant of the Oval Office will ever be.

  93. Brian October 31st, 2010 | 8:14 pm | #100

Respect has to be earned. Tell me what Obummer has done to deserve my respect.

  94. I am in NYC and caught game 3 at a bar known to be an SF Giants and 49ers fans establishment. As I hail from SF myself and am a fan of those teams, it is fun to watch the games while traveling with fellow fans. Sadly, when Dubya was shown on the screen, almost the entire bar booed. I was one of the only people to cheer and not boo. I was disappointed by the lack of class and graciousness of my fellow SF fans, though I was not surprised by it.

  95. Yea!!! Good news for a change.

What an amazing pair of presidents. They have both given honor to the office. Makes me proud to be a Texan and American. They both fought for what we believe in.

May God continue to bless them and God Bless America!

  96. Yeah, I got choked up too. I really miss the genuineness of both of these presidents. I didn’t always agree with their policies, but there was never any doubt they loved their country and were doing what they felt was best for her citizens.

  97. O-Poseur throws like a geek.

God, we miss BOTH Presidents Bush.

    Smart Men, Great Americans.

    We are stuck with pendejObama

    Vote Conservative on Tuesday!!

  98. They should have put a TARP over the mound for George to stand on.

  99. I love and respect George W Bush and I am not an American living in America. When I hear him speak on TV, I would give him a big applause. THANK YOU BUSH.

You showed concern not just for America but you showed concern for the poor, the sick, the oppressed.

  100. Imagine how wonderful this moment was, especially, for George HW and Barbara. Richly deserved.

Thank you, Lord, for what you’ve given them this day and for the hope it gives us — we’re not a nation totally lost and, with your help, we’ll be a nation restored before long.

Thank you to the Bush family for your years of service. We might not have agreed on everything, but on this we stood together: our unwavering love for America.

  101. “If I could turn back time, if I could find a way”

  102. The juxtaposition of this baseball scene next to Obama’s half empty arena just says it all.

  103. “George Bush is one of the reasons why we have Barack Obama as president today. Let’s not forget that!” by Karen #24

What, you are blaming Bush for Barack Obama? People put their faith in a man who promised Hope and Change, but they didn’t even bother to look into Obama’s socialist/marxist/black liberation/muslim background. America has Obama because idiots voted for him.

  104. I’ve watched in 6 times. I can’t stop bursting into tears. It’s been so long since we have had a real President who loves our country. Tuesday can’t come soon enough, and then 2012. What a miserable mistake for America Obama was.

To the person in San Francisco who said people booed…I live in California and have seen what those people have done to this TOILET of a state. Who gives a damn what bat crap crazy psycho Pelosi loons think? Good lord.

  105. Really nice to see a real American President throwing the first pitch. And, getting a great American roar of approval.

While the fraud speaks to a half empty audience somewhere on the campaign trail.

  106. Bush was and is a good man and we the people know it.

‘The audience applauds George W. Bush, 43rd president of the United States, at the Joseph and Louise H. Ornelas Distinguished Lecture Series at The University of Texas at Tyler’s Cowan Center on Tuesday night. — Staff Photo By Herb Nygren Jr.

Bush spoke Tuesday before a sold-out crowd of 2,000 people during the 76th lecture as part of The University of Texas at Tyler’s Distinguished Lecture Series.

He walked on the stage to a standing ovation. People in the audience were pumping their fists and whistling. One audience member shouted, “Bring back Bush,” at one point during the presentation.

He would receive at least two more standing ovations before the end of his speech.

He talked about how his relationship with his father, former President George H.W. Bush, is one of love and respect. He said his father never criticized him during his presidency. In fact, he said, he often had to encourage his father who grew frustrated with what he saw as mass media critical of his son.

Bush shared about the principles that formed the foundation for much of his foreign and domestic policies.

He said he believes there is a God and one of the gifts of that God is for everyone to know freedom.

It is in part because of this belief that he stayed the course in Iraq and believes that country is a better place because of the fall of Saddam Hussein. But the battle continues, he said.

“I believe this country is engaged in an ideological struggle of a kind we have never seen before,” he said.’

    http://www.tylerpaper.com/article/20101020/NEWS08/101029998

  107. I love president Bush because even though he is president,he is humble to God and tried to live according to the values of freedom inspired by Christianity without fear of the leftist. Or the jihad hist.
Not perfect but his efforts were sincere otherwise he would have wavered when persecuted and hated by the leftist media and the jihad hist. good to see that kind of qualities in an American president. Even though his enemies hate him but I believe some of them secretly admire him for fearing God more than fear men.

  108. Obama has created more jobs in the first ten months of this year than Bush created in 8 years. When Bush left office, the Dow was at 6000. Now it’s at 11,000.

    Go Obama!

  109. Obama doesn’t know first base from a goat’s anus.

After, Tuesday, they will force Obama show what he got for the $3,000,000,000,000.00 he borrowed from China. And, the 10% unemployed, and the bankrupt hospitals and clinics, and the MD’s quitting, and the 4,000,000 foreclosures, and . . .

  110. Oh my..this makes me so nostalgic for the days when Presidents actually loved their country.

God Bless both Presidents named Bush!

  111. Yes, I miss him, too. Even when I disagreed with him on an issue, I never lost respect for him as my president. A real man for God, country and family. Real class.

  112. THANK YOU for posting!

I used the code, along with a Hat Tip, on this evening’s CC post…

    http://www.commoncts.blogspot.com

  113. i’m still proud

  114. There was something so moving in the relationship between 41 and 43. As if both were loving being together but 43 understood that these times could end and he was savoring it. I’m constantly amazed by how 43 seems to disprove all his critics by just living his life. Folks thought him shallow, yet he seems the antithesis of that at events like tonight’s. He was vilified for 8 years yet he never rose to the bait and showed a grace under pressure and a certainty in his own skin, traits that the current President, sadly, seems to lack.

  115. The rabble-rousing midget Obama makes George W look like a giant. For all of the issues that I disagreed with W on, I’d give anything to have him back now.

  116. I’ll never forget when the “Hate Bush Syndrome” was in full swing. I was at a comedy show in Laughlin, NV and the comedian asked if anyone in the audience liked George Bush. The guy in front of me and myself were the only ones to raise our hand. Maybe it’s now becoming fashionable again. But President Bush, 911 showed me your colors. I’m very proud of you and you made me proud to be an American.

  117. Remember, it was Bush that lobbied for and signed TARP. It was Bush who commanded his Treasury Secretary to use TARP money for the bridge loan of the auto industry in late 2008 when the congress said NO.

Don’t EVER vote for another ruling class Republican again, because we all know what is going to happen:

Government is going to grow, the economy will tank, and the Democrats will be right back from the grave we are about to put them in Tuesday.

Did George Bush love his country, YES. Did George Bush have class, YES. But he did something horrible, he expanded the power of the federal government. His successor is not benevolent, and now we all pay the price.

Big govt in the right hands is just as dangerous as big government in the wrong hands, because no one can guarantee who will be in power 4 or 8 years from now. No one can guarantee the electorate will be given an honest assessment of future candidates.

Bush is a looser. Should he be booed, NO. Just clap politely.

  118. OMG WHAT A WONDERFUL MOMENT! OMG!

  119. I have two words to describe them:

    Dignity & Class!

I had forgotten about “girly pants” episode until I started reading the comments! LMAO!

  120. Yes, George, I do miss you yet.

  121. And always good to see Laura Bush. She also comes across as someone who stands up for choose what is right instead of seeking popularity. She must be the inspiration and the reason behind the courageous quality that is so good to see in an American president!

  122. Two great Americans. Yes, I missed W as he ended by being my favorite president, and I have seen several.

But what about his mistakes, you say? Is he God? But what about Reagan? He was moved from 1st place into 2nd with me. Psst, on the ground, he managed to open the illegal gates. Wide open. Oh my, he made a mistake too? I loved Reagan. A very practical man, a wonderful president, and yes, he also made mistakes.

#95 has W’s number. He always understood it was not about him. God bless these great men.

  123. The Bush Presidents were Americans and loved this country. The usurper ani& non-American and his cabal of commies who seized the White House on January 20, 2009 hates and laothes this nation and is working 24 7 in overdrive to destroy it.

  124. God bless you President George W. Bush, the greatest president in american history. obama couldn’t carry your jock strap. Boy, do we miss you now.

  125. Betty Suela,

As a 61 year resident of California I have watched the ever accelerating destruction of a wondeful state with all the gifts God could possibly have granted a spot on earth and one lured men and women of genius and imagination decimated and now left a smoldering ash heap by leftist idiots who over the last 52 have wrought total destruction.
As I will leave my home state of 61 years on April 1 next year forever like someone far greater than I will weep for it.

  126. Glad I watched it before YouTube blocked it.

  127. Opus #6 said:

That was a sweet scene. Americana.

    — Americana – it’s a wonderful, blessed thing.

And the leftists want us to mock and despise it, while simultaneously demanding we respect and celebrate all other cultures.

Respect other cultures and yet reject everything of our own.

I was discussing the oval office redecoration (which I happened to like) with someone, and I mentioned that though I liked it, some people think it’s too bland.

That person responded that it should be bland, in order to “not offend any visitors.”

    And several others agreed

As if ours is the only culture that has no right to exist. As if we have to erase ourselves while celebrating all others.

But we have a culture, too, I pointed out. And got response from anyone in the conversation.

Americana – it’s a beautiful thing. A thing to be immensely proud of.

  128. “Even though his enemies hate him but I believe some of them secretly admire him for fearing God more than fear men.”

You know, that’s interesting, cp, because just the other day I was thinking to myself that maybe they hate Bush, but I can’t help but think they really respect him. And can’t help secretly respecting him, for a number of reasons. Including that he never lowered himself to do battle with him.

Whereas they may “love” Obama, but they really don’t respect him much (or care about him much.)

Sounds odd, I know; it’s hard to articulate.

  129. *got NO response from anyone in the conversation, that should read

  130. You can still catch the video (as of this moment) here:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37NmJjSMZ-E

  131. This is another reason that will make November 2nd so important. And if you think Tuesday is going to be fun, 2012 will be a blast when we get our country back.

  132. Just to keep the record straight, in case there are others like Rob at #11, “the truth must be told, he threw from where he was standing next to his father.”

  133. It is a strength of America that former Presidents do not immediately flee the country for fear of political prosecution. (and don’t start about criminal prosecution re: Bush – I dare say every president “could” be charged with something if the prosecutors are bitter political enemies) My point is that we can enjoy former presidents after their service, whether we agreed with them in their term or not. It is a tough job and seems to beat the hell outta whoever has the office. Though I do NOT like him politically, I offer a prayer for discernment for President Obama. (remember the line from “Band of Brothers” – ‘we salute the rank, not the man…’) P.S. yeehaw former President BUSH!! Enjoy retirement – I liked you as Pres.

  134. This thread gives me hope. The vid is down, courtesy MLB and copyright law.

The thread brought a tear to my eye. Someone will repost the vid, but thanks to all of you, I have already seen it.

GOD BLESS AMERICA, AND PROTECT AND KEEP HER.

  135. Seeing father and son made me think how important having a father is for boys. Who doesn’t have a suspicion that Clinton’s creepiness had something to do with his mother’s serial marriages. Ditto for Obama? It’s clear that Dubya isn’t the arrogant, self-seeking, etc. blabbermouth Obama is.
I so miss the Bush class. His verbal awkwardness bothered people? Compare it to Obama’s nastiness? Wasn’t the change anyone wanted!

  136. Unfortunate that Major League Baseball ordered the video taken down in the United States. Unwise and impolitic of them. Management needs to control the lawyers. They are dogs and not Masters.

  137. gus #97 – That one should become a classic.

  138. “This video contains content from MLB Advanced Media, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds.”

    So much for that.

But a short note on the pitch. It’s common in Japan that famous idols throw the first pitch in some games. AKB48 have done so, Ueto Aya (Japan’s “super idol”) has done so, etc. Mind you, those are small Japanese girls, and they throw a better pitch than Obama.

  139. Bush was better!

  140. It brought tears to my eyes to see 2 such wonderful patriots together. I do miss having a competent president in office.

Would you believe that mlb.com blocked this in Israel?

    Grrrr….

  143. Boy, if that wasn’t symbolic of GDub’s presidency, I don’t know what is. Think about it. He makes a great show, and America loses 4-0 to go down three games to zero. And as we see here, regardless of the actual results, THE CROWD ROARED! Brilliant.

  146. Enjoyed reading the comments.

It’s heartwrenching when you realize what we lost 2 years ago. I have to tell myself that America has stepped aside to let the ‘little guy’ do his thing. But, America is about to knock the little guy off of the podium, and take this country back to the greatness it is.

ObiONEcanhopey is a mistake of epic proportions that will never happen in this country ever again. The people are now vigilant and protective.

    I miss President Bush.

We know who Bush’s daddy is can we say the same for Obama? We know Bush loves America, Obama does not, nor his wifey.
Patriotism and parental lineage are important.

  152. This blogpost is a great example of the problem with today’s rightwing. The announcer said “fire a strike” and so you say he did. It doesn’t matter that the video itself shows the pitch was not close to a strike, you ignore reality and say it was. Sure it was far better than the average person could do, but it was far from a strike.

  153. Militant Conservative,

Yes, we know who Obama’s father is. It is well documented.

That’s not a question. It’s you being ignorant.

Parental lineage is an important factor in leading the United States of America? My friend, you are looking for a monarchy. Try England or Denmark.

Besides securing Health Care reform and Wall Street Reform, keeping the country out of bankruptcy, creating jobs for the first time since Clinton and saving the American auto industry from ruination, I can’t think of any Obama successes. Can you give me a hint maybe?

Look, all I did was point out that Dubya threw out a great pitch the same as he looked like a great president. And I noted that the results of both his pitch and his presidency were a catastrophe that has the Rangers on the verge of elimination and had the USA on the brink of collapse. Only one of those was his fault though (see if you can figure out which). I didn’t mean to upset you. Hoft served up a meatball and I hit it out of the park.

  154. Remarkulus,

You forgot to mention your towering humility. Something you share with The Wonce, no doubt.

  155. From the U.K.:

There was a general sense that his personality was over-controlled and repressed, and that this was perhaps a function of his self-invention: the effect of having made a conscious choice to adopt an identity and a history (the Chicago black activist) which was unconnected to his real past. It occurred to me that, in an odd way, he was a Gatsby-like figure who had reinvented himself but whose new persona could be sustained only with a tremendous act of will. This psychological analysis seemed not unconnected to the political one, which revolved around his peculiar inability to sense what most Americans would regard as alienating and contrary to their own values and culture.

  156. Comment #174 is a great example of what’s wrong with people who, when they encounter something contrary to their own predetermined ideas, decide the best thing to do is try to discredit it by making things up. The really pathetic part is how they go away feeling satisfied as if they’ve made some sort of point.

  157. *This blogpost is a great example of the problem with today’s rightwing. The announcer said “fire a strike” and so you say he did. It doesn’t matter that the video itself shows the pitch was not close to a strike, you ignore reality and say it was.*

Plus he was standing in front of the mound, not even on the dirt. He couldn’t even throw a strike by cheating. Too funny.

My 12 year old throws better than that.

  158. All you leftist Obama lovers can keep on bashing the Bushes. Tomorrow will tell the story. OK, so GW didn’t burn a fast ball in there .. .the important point was that he was THERE because he loves America. He doesn’t throw like a pansy, and he certainly isn’t a Muslim sympathizer. Barbara was in the stands SCORING The game. Where were Hussein and Michelle last night? I’m guessing neither has a clue how to score a game, or even figure out how to read the score board for that matter. They’re an embarrassment to America.

  159. Guy, so you think the Bushes were at the game because they are more manly than Obama and because they are far greater patriots than the Obamas and not because of Dubya’s former relationship with the franchise, and the fact that they are residents of Texas and both former presidents? Stop eating the fish from that “creek” behind your house.

  160. It wasn’t a MLB strike since Ryan didn’t crouch behind the plate – other than that, GWB threw it right to the glove – Ryan barely moved it. Go watch it again. Even better, go watch Obammy throw his pitch – it bounces in front of the plate – but it does eventually get there on the second hop. Be sure to notice his “girly slacks” hitched up to his armpits. You got a pair too, you say??

And don’t worry about your 12-year old Alex, I’m sure he’s still in the T-Ball league – pretty soon he’ll be moving up to “coach pitch” league and maybe even kid pitch if he keeps it up – meanwhile, I’m sure no one keeps score (don’t want to damage anyone’s self-esteem, you know), everyone gets a trophy, and they all sing Kum-bye-yah after the game.

  161. Been living in Texas all my life, 70 plus years. Was cheering for the Rangers until this exhibition reminded me where W got his start with 14 million in payola. After that, it was a pleasure to see the Giants from Gayville kick their ass.

  162. Dave O:

Pretty pathetic of you to diss a 12 year old kid, but pretty funny in that he still throws better than the Bush you’re fluffing. But, come to think of it, I have seen kids in T-Ball throw better than W.

You’re a tool. You’re actually going to judge this as if he was pitching for the Rangers in that night’s game? You know he’s not a professional baseball player, right? Unbelievable. Here’s to hoping your 12 year old has more commonsense and common decency than you do.

George W. has thrown out many first pitches, including the one at the World Series in 2001 after 9/11, and unlike many politicians and celebrities that take part in these ceremonial first pitches, he’s never embarrassed himself when doing it. Too bad the same can’t be said of Obama and John Kerry, among others. If anything, Bush has looked at ease, whether it was his soft toss last night or the perfect strike he threw from the mound at the 2001 World Series. He’s also a 64-year-old man now. Considering the embarrassing first pitch efforts of Obama, who is only in his 40s, and Kerry, you would think you would simply shut up and not overanlyze a ceremonial first pitch. But like much of the child-like Left, you couldn’t help yourself, could you? It’s nice to know that the power of Bush Derangement Syndrome among many on the Left, including you, is still so strong. I guess that’s easier than defending the limp-wristed clown that now sits in the Oval Office.

Wow, what a retort? This is actually the type of remark I would expect from a 12 year old. Seriously. I mean, you actually wrote, “You obviously have gotten lightheaded from sniffing Dumbyah’s jockstrap.” It was real “genius” how in that sentence you referenced a piece of sports equipment and intentionally misspelled Bush’s nickname. What a “knee-slapper.” I hope you realize that you’re not anywhere near as funny as you think you are. If anything, the level of childish idiocy you’ve displayed here is astounding and laughably pathetic.

Despite your attempts to convince everyone that Bush’s first pitch last night was horribly bad, no unbiased observer is buying it. One only has to look at the myriad of bad ceremonial first pitches over the years, with various celebrities and politicians (e.g., Obama, Kerry) badly embarrassing themselves. Bush didn’t embarrass himelf last night nor did he in previous first-pitch efforts. Nonetheless, you continue to try to falsely convince us that there you’ve “seen kids in T-Ball throw better than W”. Perhaps you mean better than limp-wristed Obama, who actually looked like a right-hander trying to throw left-handed when he threw out a first pitch. Yes, his attempt was that bad and awkward. But what do I know, right Alex? I only played baseball for over a decade and later covered major league baseball as a newspaper reporter for years. But that’s nothing compared to you watching your young son toss the ball around, is it?

As for your complaint about the dissing of your 12-year-old son, who is the one that injected him into the debate here in an attempt to insult Bush? Perhaps you should not try to use and hide behind your young son in an argument. It’s not his fault he’s stuck with an obnoxious, immature simpleton like you as a father. Then again, your behavior and anger at Bush and Republicans is not surprising, considering what’s about to happen on Election Day tomorrow. You can just feel the anger and frustration on the Left right now, which is why you and your Leftist brethren resort to taking potshots at Bush, your favorite target over the past decade.

  166. If only he could have brought some skills to the White House.

  167. **You’re a tool. You’re actually going to judge this as if he was pitching for the Rangers in that night’s game? **

Too funny. You are the asshats comparing Obama’s throw from the pitching rubber to Bush’s throw from four steps onto the grass in front of the mound, and claiming that Bush threw a “strike.”

I’m not judging anything except the foolishness of this exercise in Bush idolatry, and I adjudge to be pretty damn funny. Neither throw was very impressive to tell the truth, but I’m not the one claiming someone is throwing “strikes.”

    **Wow, what a retort? **

Not quite on the level of ripping on someone’s twelve year old kid, but then again I’m not nearly as hypocritical and doltish as the throngs of W-lovers here.

**Then again, your behavior and anger at Bush and Republicans is not surprising**

ROFL. What anger? I just wasn’t impressed by his walking halfway to home plate to make a throw. You guys are really frothing. Thanks for the comic relief.

  168. Slappy is right, consarnit. Just because 8 years of the second Bush Administration nearly collapsed our entire economy is no reason to dislike the man. He can throw a baseball, fercryinoutloud.

Besides, even though we say we opposed Dubya’s policies of expanding the government, destroying our economy, and creating the “Unitary Executive” at the time doesnt mean we don’t think he was the greatest president ever. Or something.

And so what if we loved 41 so much we ran him out of town on a rail and elected Bill Clinton. It doesn’t mean we don’t love and honor and respect the man. 20 years later, I mean.
