NPR website can’t take the heat…

The NPR website is no longer taking comments today. They blame it on user volume.
Really? They’re taxpayer funded but can’t keep a website running?

The Ombudsman also tweeted that she is working on a Juan Williams’ column.

  1. Nazi (National Socialist) Party Radio

  2. Can a taxpayer funded organization discriminate or fire an employee based upon the content of his or her non employment speech? Isn’t that a violation of the First Amendment? Interesting questions.

  3. Maybe Juan will reconsider some of the Liberal arguments and positions he has favored in the past…nothing like a reality check to get you thinking….

  4. I am not a techie but if there is too much traffic going to a website doesn’t it crash the whole website and not just a page? Just wondering…

  5. NPR stepped in their own excrement this time. I can’t understand how a taxpayer funded entity gets away with firing someone over a free speech issue.
NPR is what needs to go.

  6. Gotta luv it, gotta luv it.

Speaking of which, dontcha just feeeeeeel all the tolerant, Liberal luuuuuuv just oozing from the pores of NPR?

By their standards, Jessie Jackson wouldn’t been kicked to the curb by commenting on his own feelings when walking down a dark street, followed by unknown footsteps.

Would LOVE to see NPR offer their oh-so-sensitive anaylsis of Jessie’s statement.

Another inconvenient truth skitters out from underneath the NPR rockpile…

  7. DEFUND. DISBAND. DISSOLVE.
The GOP should put that on their list of campaign promises … not some lame,”voted for but didn’t actually pass, ” but SHUT ALL government media off, and DO IT. There is NO need for NPR except to promote the Liberal Left ideology, an illegal government politicking activity.

  8. Oop…..taypooo

    “Wouldn’t” ==> “would’ve”

    Stoopyd fengurrs diddunt fahlough instrukshins…

  9. Now that it’s being injected with 1.8 million of George Soros’ money, I don’t think we can legitimately call it “National Public Radio” any longer. And I don’t think our TAX dollars ought to be sent to them any more. Let all their lefty followers send them the $$$ to keep spewing their nonsense…they shouldn’t be allowed to accept funds from him and still claim to be non-partisan and for ALL the public!

  10. “Now that it’s being injected with 1.8 million of George Soros’ money, I don’t think we can legitimately call it “National Public Radio” any longer. ”

It should be called from now on, “NSR” – National Soros Radio.

  11. Hilarious! It’s a perfect day.

  12. As far as Juan Williams, he’s been a Liebral who was gettign disciplined. The Left already sneered he’s an “uncle Tom”

UNcle Tom was the CHristian which stood up against the evil slavers, at the cost of his life.
Instead of a noble sacrifice, with eternal rewards, the Nation of Islam calls that a “fail” and exhorts people to ‘victory’ thru violence and rejection of reconciliation instead.

There a lot of politics wrapped up in what is an accusation, not an honor. Juan Williams is just a regular Liberal Leftie, wondering what he’s doing wrong to offend the bosses, so who knows if he’ll find the internal fortitude to correctly tell these manipulative NPR elites to go to hell.

  13. When oh when will Satan finally come and take his best minion George Soros from our realm?

    The time has truly come…

  14. So NPR = the little kid with his fingers in his ears screaming “LALALALALALALALALALALA”

They don’t want to hear what you have to say, and have blocked you from saying it.

  15. I have a solution to their problem. If everyone will just redirect their complaint to their senators and congresspeople as well as the soon to be senators and congresspeople advocating that the taxpayer funds now directed at PBS and NPR be redirected toward deficit reduction, I believe that will solve the problem in more ways than one.

  16. Awe too damned bad Juan got canned… He will get more publicity and fox will probably hire the fool and give him a show or put him on with Hannity. Silly liberal got his after all of these years spewing his garbage on us. Defund NPR, PBS, NEA, etc etc etc. We have higher prioities than funding leftwing nutjobs

  17. Smokescreen.

Juan Williams should have been fired for better reasons…

But why aren’t we lighting up their lines over NPR taking Soros funding?

  18. I rarely agreed with Mr. Williams, but I respected his opinions and the manner in which he expressed the.

If I was running NPR, I would’ve seen him as a way of countering Fox/Faux News’ right-of-center message and carrying a leftish message to a bunch of “bitter-clingers” who otherwise wouldn’t be exposed to it. I would’ve seen Williams as a subversive presence at Fox who could challenge and undermine their message.

Oh well, guess that’s why I’ve been a Conservative since 1964 and the Goldwater Campaign. I quit listening to NPR back during the Reagan Administration when Joan Didon was so blantenly pro-Communist in her coverage of the Central American freedom fighters in Nicaragua and El Salvador.

Although, Mr. Williams is a liberal, I wish him the best in any future endeavors.

  19. NPR has joined the Islamophobe ranks. They have made their fear of Islam official with this move. As far as NPR is concerned, the terrorists have won.

Tune in next week when NPR requires only halal food be served at the NPR cafeteria. No bacon for you, infidel!

  20. First thing the new congress should do is cut their funding.

Beautifully stated, MAJ Mike. As another 1964 Goldwater conservative, I like and respect Williams, too, even when I disagree with him (which is most of the time), and wish him well.

  22. Maybe they should have taken some of the 1.8 million in dirty money from s0r0s and used it to buy new servers and bandwidth…

  23. ugh

    Smokescreen.
Juan Williams should have been fired for better reasons…
But why aren’t we lighting up their lines over NPR taking Soros funding
    …………………………..

    Agree 100%

  24. NPR’s legal affairs correspondent Nina Totenberg was once quoted that she hoped Jesse Helms or his grandchildren might someday be infected with the AIDS virus via blood transfusion or some other method – and she (the model of fairness and objectivity) is still gainfully employed by NPR – indeed, she probably got a promotion by virtue of having said that.

I believe there is still a YouTube video quoting her as saying this.

Let’s hope that the NPR ombudsman can resolve this seeming disparity in the treatment of their employees after uttering such statements. Juan Williams’ statement is much less inflammatory than that of Totenberg.

But I won’t hold my breath.

  25. Let’s be perfectly honest. Muslims can lie to non muslims to further Islam. There have been over 16,300 terrorists attacks since 9/11/01 committed by muslims. Muslims gather in the tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands to protest cartoons etc but not to condemn muslims killing people in the name of Islam. You wonder why no one trust muslims. I don’t buy Tyson food anymore because almost the entire factory is muslim workers. Sorry I just don’t trust them. I would if they would protest in mass against muslims killing in the name of Islam, but they haven’t, have they?

  26. Katy Perry Sesame Street Episode Pulled for Being Too HotONLY after tons of complaints from outraged parents….but they sure wanted to run it. Now Juan Williams saying something against their Liberal template on his own time on another network,….that’s just unacceptable for NPR and their “high standards”.

  27. It is ok to call tea partiers, tea baggers and extremists, racists, bigots etc with absolutely no proof. But saying muslims are worrisome with massive proof of what they do is not ok. Please!!!!

  28. Juan williams on Fox and Friends talking about the Tea Party signs that made him uncomfortable as a black man, Juan williams is trying to curry favor and get back in the lefty world.
Please defund NPR. It is a 5th column menace in dulcet tones and there are people I know who listen to all that twaddle on and off most of the day. The best thing is that the lefty weasels won’t fund it.Hahaha buh bye NPR.

  29. eaglewingz80 #2 has a point.

Is it legal for them to fire him for this?

Although, in light of George Soros’ recent “I’m absolutely taking my money out of the game…” and simultaneous (cognitive dissonance-inducing) unprecidented funding BINGE, are they really a majority taxpayer-funded institution any longer?

Re: laws today as they apply to dems

I can only analogize what is going on today vis a vis the U.S.A.’s current leadership by referring to Iraq during the period before the Second Gulf War. Iraq was in defiance of pretty much every single U.N. resolution and treaty term since the end of the First Gulf War in Quwait, and only because they KNEW that there would be no repercussions for their actions.

Today’s Progressive/Communists know that they can get away with just about ANYTHING, becuase anybody that COULD POSSIBLY DO ANYTHING about their unbridled lawbreaking IS ON THEIR SIDE.

We are in for a real Circus of Deception come 2012.

  30. Thought……Soros could be wanting to purge NPR of those not towing the company line totally. Thus NPR WILL become the first propaganda station totally owned by the Gubmt. I know they were already in the tank but I’m talking about “officially on board and openly so”.

  31. Should end all doubt about how NPR embraces the Socialist agenda. This is a group who have dreams of destroying this nation. Every one there should be viewed as spies and fifth column activists, and dealt with accordingly.

  32. the gutless bastards aren’t even answering their phones!!
NOW I know why KCET is happy to leave these PC jackbooters!!!

  33. If Alicia Shepard has not read the Hamas Covenant, she has no business writing a comment about Juan Williams’ firing, because she does not know about the Muslim Brotherhood and their explicit statements that every Muslim has a personal religious duty to murder their neighbors.

    http://avalon.law.yale.edu/20th_century/hamas.asp

  34. CAIR at it again. CAIR suppresses free speech. Can’t handle it then you shouldn’t live in America go to an Islamic state. http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=xprnw.20101020.DC85774&show_article=1

  35. They can’t keep up their website, and they can’t be bothered to listen to the full set of remarks before they fire somebody over a sound bite.

In a more responsible organization, heads would roll, and Williams would be re-hired.

  36. Same thing the Interior Dept and Parks and Wildlife did a few years ago over Public Reaction to the Muslim Terrorists Tribute to 9/11 at the Crash Site of Flight 93, with their plans of a giant red crescent, etc etc….

Shut down all their communications pages with the General Public, too!

  37. Defund: NPR (NATIONAL PROPAGANDA of the far left RADIO)
Defund: NEA (NATIONAL ENDOWMENT of the ATHEIST)
Defund: CONGRESS (NATIONAL COLLECTION OF GENOME FAILURES)

  38. While we’re at it, can we defund George Soros too?

  39. Used to be an advocate for NPR and donated funds. However, current firing fiasco forces me to believe NPR has grown into a bureaucracy versus a public service and it MUST be dismantled. Lifelong NPR management has become a dictatorship and needs to leave or be TERMINATED in the same unprofessional and disrespectful manner they used to fire Juan’s termination. Voting to remove NPR funding and forget about me supporting NPR moving forward!!
