The NFL’s political action committee donated $10,000 to Harry Reid this election cycle.
CNS News reported, via Free Republic:

The National Football League’s political action committee—Gridiron PAC—has weighed in on the hotly contested U.S. Senate election in Nevada that pits conservative Republican challenger Sharron Angle against Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid.

The PAC has given $10,000 to Reid—the maximum it can give in a single election cycle—and no money to Angle, according to Federal Election Commission data compiled by OpenSecrets.org.

The NFL’s PAC also contributed to other incumbent Democratic senators facing viable challengers this year, giving $5,000 to Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas; $5,000 to Russ Feingold of Wisconsin; $5,000 to Barbara Boxer of California; $5,000 to Michael Bennet of Colorado; and $5,000 to Patty Murray of Washington.

In none of these races did the NFL’s PAC contribute to the Republican challenger.

  1. What in the heck does the NFL need a PAC for? I have already stopped watching them since the players have been wearing pink shoes, now this is the final straw.

  2. Let them throw the money away, it will not make any difference whatsoever.

  3. I notice that when the NRA’s PAC pulled this they got slapped down hard due to widespread outrage from the membership.

Time for football fans to knock off the macho posturing and man up, methinks.

  4. I knew I stopped watching the NFL years ago for a reason. I’m sure you “conservative” tools will keep watching the NFL anyway even after they slap you in the face.

  5. Potential labor bru-ha-ha before next season. Trying to hedge their bets.

  6. Gridiron PAC appears to be another PAC (like VFW’s PAC) that supports a party that would seem to be in conflict with the actual self-interest of its members.

Why would pro football players, who prize the freedom to negotiate for which team to play in order to get the largest salary, want to support a party that wants to socialize everything?

Then again, some of these guys are willing to raise fan ire by possibly staging a strike in 2011.

  7. WTF?

  8. Most of the players have a long history of violence off the field and after they retire,OJ anyone. I have been boycotting them for twenty years.

  9. Speaking of Reid and the election, remember the reports of the “pre-marked for Reid” voting machine in Boulder City? There have been no findings of problems by the Clark County GOP or the Sec of State, and no other similar problems have been reported anywhere else in Clark Cty, or for that matter, anywhere in the State. I still contend this was operator error.

Far more chilling to me are the reports from Las Vegas of union thugs busing their members to polling places in Vegas, then positioning themselves around the polling place in order to make sure the members actually vote.

The Nevada Election Task Force has filed an extensive complaint.

I first saw this story late last night on Redstate, which includes a link to the complaint. See it here:

    http://tinyurl.com/2ffmeq7

Elizabeth Crum has picked up the story on National Review’s Battle 10 blog:

    http://tinyurl.com/2e6vkcg

Thankfully, I’ve seen nothing like this during my time at an early voting place in Reno, but I’ve heard there are a few locations in Reno where we Republican poll watchers have to be extra vigilant.

Doing another four hours of poll watching this afternoon on this last day of early voting, then will put in six hours on election day itself.

  10. Stopped watching anyway because of the pink crap everywhere…When the college players start the pink I will pass on that too.
    Is there nothing sacred anymore.
Do they have to chickify everything?

  11. I’m confused:
Isn’t the NFL owners made up of a bunch of rich people?

Aren’t we supposed to believe only Republican’s are rich?

  12. If they’re working for Reid, they’re working against me. Presumably, they’re like Obama and think of me as the enemy.

Hey, if I feel like being insulted I’ll watch the “news” on ABC-CBS-NBC.

Rush was willing to forgive football so he could watch the games every Sunday. Me, I can live without it. Easily.

  13. I honestly don’t know a single self-identified liberal that likes football. Quite the opposite, in fact. To them, football is symbolic of everything that’s wrong with our country, while Soccer embodies everything that’s right with the world.

The only Democrats I know that like football are the blue-collar union types who, at least among those I know, are not politically liberal in most regards.

  14. This article and the comments that follow don’t give a reason for the bias to Deocrap candidates. Doesn’t make sense to me.

  15. Pure Insanity!

  16. Please stop putting your nose into politics-don’t we have enough dirty politics without the NFL getting involved? Give your fans a break and stop promoting socialism for our country which would mean we would NOT have the freedom to even watch a game-or you affording to have the
teams. GET YOUR *&(&* OUT OF POLITICS

  17. Let’s see if I renew my season tickets next year. I’ll be danged if my money is going to fund my political ENEMIES – that’s precisely why I don’t buy newspapers anymore.

  18. No mystery to me. Could it be that Big Sports are such an effective distraction to politics? The more people watch, the less they know about politics (Rushbo notwithstanding). The less they know about politics, the more they vote for Dems.

I’ve known countless folks who know every player in their chosen distraction (baseball, hockey, football) and stats from every game dating back to before they were born….but they don’t know jack squat about politics besides what their TV-news personality feeds them. Mostly if you talk about politics with these people, you get the standard, “Shut Up.”

    They know what REALLY matters.

And isn’t it a fortuitous coincidence for any who wish to engage in vote fraud (Dems, natch) that the World Series is overlapping voting day?

The Roman Colusseum comes to mind. So does the fall of Rome.

  19. I have no clue why on earth the National Football League needs a political action committee, but it seems rather foolhardy to me. Why would they politicize the game and offend half their viewers that way?

  20. In related news, the President will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch for Sunday’s World Series game.

President G.W. Bush that is. Oh, and President G.H.W. Bush, too.

    I said President, not Usurper.

  21. At the risk of being called racist, remember that 70% of NFL players are black and voted 95% for Obama.

  22. I will be voting against any tax increase for a new stadium in STL. Let Harry get them the money, which will be hard after his butt is retired next week.

  23. Dumb idea anyway, so flag ‘em. “Unsportsmanlike Conduct”, and from the voter fraud we have already seen reported, Reid and the others will use that money to try to put “too many men on the field” at the voting booths.

  24. They want and expect “special exceptions” on their large salaries when Obama and the Democrats raise taxes on everyone else who did not support him.

It is all about “punishing his enemies” — as he said in a recent speech.

If enough conservatives stopped attending the games or watching the NFL for a while–these players and owners might get a wake-up call.

  25. Thank God for college football. At least the players are still in the pre-felony stage of their lives, for the most part.

SKAY-Go ahead and watch NFL games but boycott their advertisers.

    Hooray for Mizzou! Go Tigers!

  26. @ Gary H:

What percentage of NFL fans (i.e. the ones who fund the extravagant lifestyles of players, coaches, owners, etc) is conservative? I would bet a clear majority are white males and mostly center/right in their politics.

Wasn’t it about a year ago that Roger Goodell deemed Rush Limbaugh unsuitable as an NFL owner?

Perhaps Rasmussen should do a right direction/wrong direction poll focused on the NFL since Goodell took over.

  27. Roger Goodell is the worst commissioner in NFL/AFL history…He allowed dog killer Vick back into the league, put out the pink for breast cancer, and dissed Rush Limbaugh…Clueless oaf!!!!

  28. It’s the libturd owners. Most of the owners are Liberals. Remember the dust up about Rush being a percentage owner with Chafitts??? Non story politics as usual. powder is dry.

  29. Without tax payers, most of the stadiums NFL teams play in would not be built. Democrats are more than willing to use tax payer money to fund these projects as union labor will be used to build it.

  30. I can’t watch football anymore anyway. Really won’t now. I maybe catch the Bear game once a week.

But I can’t handle the NFL anymore, too much BS in the endzone type stuff.

Even the robot on the FOX acts like a corner gangbanger.

  31. i stopped watching pro football about 5-6 years ago. As a one time cardinal, and later ram season ticket holder i slowly began to realize the “eastern elitist” thought patterns of the NFL hierarchy such as the maras and the bidwills through commissioner like tagliavue (sic) and the moron commissioner that currently reigns. I now prefer to watch the kids play volleyball, and soccer. MLB under a series of incompetent commissioners including the inept bud selig is on that same path!

  32. That’s ok football sucks anyway. Maybe it’s close to collective bargaining again and the owner’s want to look sympathetic to the poor underpaid football players by giving to their union’s favorite charity.

  33. So the “chickification” of the NFL isn’t just Rush’s opinion, the NFL is being run by a bunch of chicks and liberals…

  34. This is my last year that I subscribe to the NFL Sunday Ticket on DirecTV. I know the NFL is run by a bunch of political correct Ivy League sissies, but I didn’t know it was this bad.

  35. Ya play a kids game, and think you know something! Bunch of meat heads!

    ………

Last week’s local public school high school game was pink-a-rama. Pathetic. On the other hand, that pink color is a fast way to identify the totalitarians – one big pink thread running thru – ya know what ideology makes the top decisions.

  37. The NFL, as well as the other pro sports, is complicit in engineering elaborate tax-increases, so of course upper management loves the Democrats and they love the NFL. BAN all the tax-payer-subsidization of stadiums and see how well the NFL owners can afford paying the huge salaries to over-glorified players.

Then there’s the Democrats pressuring the franchises to do corrosive idiocies like boycott Arizona …

  38. A sad day in America when the NFL supports communist crooks, not only that they are showing the scoreboards in espan’ol. Won’t find the games going in this house.

  39. Well, I got the local niners and raider games here. Not exactly much of a challenge to boycot the both of em!

    Good luck selling tickets Al!

  40. Face it: the NFL has gone faggot. Braids, pink shoes. The NFL is a time and money sink that supports a bunch of idiots on and off the field.

Stop watching. Stop wearing the shirts and crap. Make all the dickheads get real jobs for a living.

  41. Don’t watch NFL games. You’re just supporting ABC, CBS, NBC anyway! I’m waiting for Roller Derby on cable!

  42. This is all you need to know about Senator Harry Reid, Barbara Boxer, Gubernatorial Jerry Brown and the majority of Liberal Progressives, hiding in the Shadows of the Democrats. Sen. Harry Reid on return to Senate will force through an AMNESTY of epidemic proportions. REID doesn’t seem to acknowledge that 15 million American can’t find work? Harry Reid’s own State of Nevada is a good paradigm, of the highest jobless rate in the USA, that shows him completely out of touch. The non-partisan Pew Hispanic Center shows immigrant workers continue to gain jobs during the current jobs depression, even though U.S.-born workers are continuing to lose jobs. In Nevada the casino industry, entertainment and service workers are heavy with illegal labor, same with trade unions across the country, and low wages are the profit attraction to hire people without documentation. This is certainly a reality in Las Vegas and other gaming cities.

NOTHING MORE NEEDS TO BE SAID, OTHER THAN VOTE FOR THE TEA PARTY CANDIDATES. SAVE YOUR OWN STATE AS ARIZONA IS DOING FROM THE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT INVASION. THE TEA PARTY WILL CHANGE THE MISDIRECTED AGENDA ROUTES OF BOTH THE GOP AND THE DEMOCRATS. THE TEA PARTY HAS SWORN NO COLLUSION WITH THE ELITES, CORPORATE ENTITIES, THE FAR LEFT OR THE THE POWERFUL LOBBYIST GROUPS, NOR THE OPEN BORDER ZEALOTS. THERE WILL BE RENEGOTIATIONS OF FREE TRADE TREATIES AND MONEY FOR THE SMALL BUSINESS ENTREPRENEURS WHO SHAPE THE JOBS IN THE US. THE END OF TAX AND SPEND MENTALITY AND THAT AMERICA WILL BE RETURNED TO THE PEOPLE, THE LEGAL IMMIGRANTS AND AN OPEN SOCIETY THAT WAS BEING COMPROMISED BY THE FAR LEFT. THE MAJORITY OF LIBERAL PROGRESSIVES OR LEANING LEFT DEMOCRATS INCLUDING GOVERNORS, MAYORS AND ELECTED LOCAL GOVERNMENT ARE OF THE OPINION WE SHOULD PANDER TO ILLEGAL ALIENS.

Voted YES on continuing federal funds for declared “sanctuary cities”. (Mar 2008) Voted YES on comprehensive immigration reform (Jun 2007); (AMNESTY) Senator Barbara Boxer is Pro-Amnesty and even when there is 12 percent jobless in California, she has Joined with Senator Reid to pass this massive Amnesty, adding the Dream Act and even more agricultural farm workers. After the last 1986 Amnesty–once naturalized the farm workers deserted their jobs on the farms and headed for the mainstream in cities and communities. Voted NO on declaring English as the official language of the US government (Jun 2007); Self explanatory–but the US government had to spend billions of dollars for interpreters, judicial documents just to appease foreigners. No other country in the world spends this sort of money; either you learn the National language or you’re out-of-luck.

Voted NO on building a fence along the Mexican border (Sept 2006); The–DOUBLE–fence is not completed and the original design under the 2006 Secure Fence Act was dismantled. Voted YES on establishing a Guest Worker program (May 2006); Voted YES on allowing illegal aliens to participate in Social Security (May 2006); this would be an absolute tragedy to all Americans who will depend on this money in their old age. Voted NO on a limiting welfare for immigrants (Jun 1997); This has been happening for years, which has cost the unaware taxpayers billions upon billions of dollars, specially where Instant citizenship babies are concerned (The A-N-C-H-O-R baby syndrome.) This should be revised–that the parents must be deported, but the children can return at 18 as a authorized citizens. This law is a travesty and must be changed, as the illegal parents can establish a foundation and have the opportunity to access Welfare and government handouts.

During this time period the Mother may have even more children that allow them even more access to child entitlements. Voted YES on visas for skilled workers (May 1998); This has remained an open book for fraud, as the business owners are still collecting massive profits on medium skilled labor, not the scientists, engineers and computer innovators we expect. Voted YES in providing funding for social services for non-citizens (May 2006); No non-citizen or illegal alien should be able to take advantage of any welfare program. GOOGLE–the facts–NOT LIES such as Illegal alien costs; illegal alien and Social Security and other keywords. As loyal citizens we must be especially watchful of voter fraud in this election, as the consequences will have a disastrous effect on our nation. No Copyright on any Comments or Articles.
