In her inaugural address as speaker of the House in 2007, far left Speaker Nancy Pelosi promised “no new deficit spending.”
She lied.
The Obama-Pelosi-Reid Regime tripled the national deficit in one year.

The Pelosi House has increased th national debt by $5 Trillion since she promised “no new deficit spending.”
CNS News reported:
When Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) gave her inaugural address as speaker of the House in 2007, she vowed there would be “no new deficit spending.” Since that day, the national debt has increased by $5 trillion, according to the U.S. Treasury Department.
“After years of historic deficits, this 110th Congress will commit itself to a higher standard: Pay as you go, no new deficit spending,” Pelosi said in her speech from the speaker’s podium. “Our new America will provide unlimited opportunity for future generations, not burden them with mountains of debt.”
Pelosi has served as speaker in the 110th and 111th Congresses.

Have you considered also including in that graphic the contrast between the Republican controlled Congress vs. the Democrat controlled Congress? It would be quite illuminating. Kinda like in this video-

I suppose the thing that amazes me most is that people KNOW this and STILL vote Democrat. If not for the poor and the uneducated, the left would never win another election.
I HOPE it CHANGES.

Federal debt incurred from FY 2001 through FY 2006 is $2.8 Trillion.
Federal debt incurred from FY 2007 through FY 2010 is $5 Trillion.
In 2007, 2008 and 2009 the Pelosi-Reid congress left us with $3.4 Trillion in debt, more than the previous 6 years of Republican congresses in half the time.
Robert commented:
In FY 2000 the total outstanding debt was $5.7 Trillion.
In 6 years, the Republicans added $2.8 Trillion.
In 4 years, the Democrats added $5 Trillion.
The total outstanding debt is $13.56 Trillion.

Obama’s “car” is NOT in the ditch, with the Democrats struggling to get it out.
It is being driven toward a cliff by the Republicans, and the Democrats jumped in and floored the accelerator.

Robert,
No one in their right mind would argue that up until recently at least, the Republican party has been no staunch supporter of limited government. But the notion that the ‘rats were imploring the R’s not to spend money when the R’s were in power is comically incorrect. Unfortunately a vast number of Americans buy into this ridiculous notion.
Paul Revere commented:
As part of Nancy P’s “contribution” to the national debt, Obama’s share is 3.0 trillion dollars in only 21 months. Put another way, 3 trillion equals a stack of crisp new thousand dollar bills 204 miles high. This is the elevation of the Inrenational Space Station. Sound unreal? No, the 204 miles is absolutely factual, courtesy of the U.S. Mint and two minutes of calculations.

I don’t know how you got that “notion” from what I wrote (other than mistyping “is being driven by Republicans” as opposed to “was” being driven), I never inferred that the Democrats were not spendaholics.
Just to be clear, the Republicans were spending way too much, then the Democrats took it to obscene levels. And when the Republicans regain power, they will have to be watched closely to see that they don’t fall into the spending ways again.
As is stands, there already is no easy way to pay all that debt, and there should be MUCH more said about it. To continue even half this amount of deficit spending is far beyond unacceptable.

Robert,
During the Bush years the ‘rats never had less than 47% of the House and 45% of the Senate seats; and according to the NTU’s BillTally — which keeps track of how much spending each congress critter proposes based on the bills they sponsor or cosponsor — the average ‘rat proposed 13, 15, 36, and 23 times as much spending as the average R during the 107th, 108th, 109th, and 110th congresses repectively.
Wonky stuff, but this information has to get out there. We are clearly on the same side — the side that wants to avoid serfdom — but I think we need to steer well clear of giving support to the meme, promoted by those attempting to enslave us, that the Republicans under Bush did too much spending (as if the ‘rats were there trying their damndest to keep government from growing).
Spending skyrocketed when the ‘rats took control of the purse strings, because during the prior Bush years the ‘rats DIDN’T have control of the purse strings.

This election is critical. As Steyn says, a great power’s decline begins with the money:
